What does fallout mean? I've never really wondered this, but at my school we have a fallout shelter. What's that mean?

It has something to do with radiation from a bomb. Remember the Cold War? That why you have a shelter.

It's a shelter to protect people from radiation from the atomic bombs

Didn't they get their name from a crowd shouting out random names for them? (Isn't Fall Out Boy the sidekick from the Simpsons.) This is just what I've heard.

No, they've given that answer to a lot of magazines, etc.
Apparently they didn't realize it was from The Simpsons for a long time

Their name was picked from some random guy in an audience according to Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump. The man screamed it out, and they liked it.
