After coming across these, I can't help but be worried that the world has gone Leet! Maybe, this is a stupid worry, but I have a six year old daughter and I don't want her to have to learn 'leet' just to be able to understand people. Now, I understand that there is a probability that this 'fad' will fade before she gets old enough to really worry over it. Yet, what bothers me as a parent is the number of people, old and young, who think this is socially acceptable. Why are we allowing people and the younger generations to relax in grammar and spelling? Shouldn't grammar and spelling be enforced; not forgotten?

What is leet? I am not familiar with the term... confused

As I understand it, it's much more complicated than that. What you just wrote was a combination of text - or "txt" - speak and leet - or 1337 - speak. Leet uses numbers and symbols instead of letters. I don't use it but a lot of my friends do. It's used mainly on the Internet, with gamers and/or geeks.
