Guess what? Three-Fourths of the entire gaian community uses "txt-tlk." How can we possibly stop this madness? I know, they only use things like "lol", "lmao", "rofl" , etc., but it's still "txt-tlk." Any suggestions?

Wouldn't text talk be 'lyk dis'?

I consider lol, lmao, etc. to be more like...internet-wide abbreviations, rather than 'txt-tlk'.

I agree with those being abbreviations, but there does seem to be rampant "txt talk" without including the abbreviations. And for the most part, run away if you see it. It's about all one can do anyways, unfortunately.

The only one I agree with is 'lol'; but most of the time you have smilies for that, anyways. Like so: lol

Suggestions? Don't use bright green text.

I have, on occasion in RPs, pointed out errors in creative in-character ways. For example, I was once role playing with someone who decided not to use any punctuation in his character's dialogue. In response, I had my character say that his sounded like a little kid yelling non-stop.

Ha! Yes, we use punctuation in dialogue. That's rather funny...

Three fourths? Do you have any statistics or an article to back up your claim?

I say lol and rofl. o_o I don't see anything wrong with that. It's an expression rather than a lazy version of shortening a bunch of words. I see txt tlk as 2nite, u r, and such things.

The fact that they use txt tlk doesn't make them bad. They have different levels of words that they are willing to type out. I vote to let them be themselves and that we can still be friends with them even if we disagree on appropriate grammar. AND THAT IS THE WORD! xd

Yeah, i'm with you. I never had any objections to people using "txt tlk." As long as I can understand what they're saying, it's ok. I just prefer not to, personally. That's why I joined this guild.
