I work my crochet mostly on the go - on the train, buses, that sort of thing. The problem is that I am currently making an afghan for my mom that is 200 small sqs put together, and I don't like the idea of trying to use a needle on a train. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to weave in the ends just using the crochet hook? please let me know if you do! Also, a link to a beginner tutorial on joining pieces would be awesome.

Try inserting a smaller hook between the strands of yarn in a stitch, grabbing the end, and pulling the yarn through the stitch that way. (I'd recommend at least 2 sizes smaller so the stitches don't stretch and get all ugly-looking...)

Yeah, the smaller the better (provided it can still hook the yarn).
