Hello all, I just changed the subforum a bit so it includes The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! It's a really good show, and you can watch it on youtube. The correct order of the episodes is 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7,6,8,1,12, 11, 9. Please, post here about the show!

I think the episode order is simply because the series is so crazy to begin with that mixing up the episodes wouldn't seem too weird. You can watch it in chronological order (the normal DVDs, when they come out, will have this order) but you'll still have The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina as the first episode (technically it's episode 11, but it's a very unique introduction to the show). However, if you watch it in chronological order, it'll build up tension for the first half of the series, have a huge climax at The Maleancholy 6 (episode 7), and... it'll just kind of taper off. If one watches it in that order, then the last episode in Someday in the Rain, which is basically the SOS Brigade without Kyon. And as interesting as that is, it's not all that great of an ending for a show, especially since you have three minutes of Yuki reading in that episode.

If you watch it in broadcast order however, you're more likely to get confused. It'll be something like:
Episode 3: *Yuki starts explaining something but the episode ends in the middle of it*
Episode 4: Let's play baseball!
Episode 5: *Yuki finishes explaining it*

You'll get a climax in the last episode, though.

Personally, I prefer it in broadcast order. It's kind of interesting, when watching episodes after Melancholy 6, since the characters hint at what happened, but never actually tell you.

Sorry, I'm a bit slow and hard understanding confusing things.
So on the DVD's are they in order so that it makes sense?

There are two versions of the DVDs. If you buy the standard editions, the episodes are in chronological order.

If you buy the first special edition DVD (the one with the super huge box), it will have the first four episodes in chronological only. Special edition DVDs 2-4 will have two discs. One will have the next three episodes in chronological order, and the other will have 4-5 episodes in broadcast order. The broadcast order DVD is subtitled-only. So if you wanted to watch the show in broadcast order and subtitled, you could skip buying the first DVD (but you miss out on the giant box).

Does that make sense or am I confusing you more?

The order of the episodes confuse me... But the anime is totally awesome. Realy random and funny. My fave character is Haruhi and Kyon... Ah... Kyon... So funny... And wow... Haruhi can sing...

I sure hope they come out with it soon. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is to good a series to end after just one season. Not to mention the fact that it has actual potential to have a good next season.

On a different note, has anyone here ever attempted to learn the end dance?
