If we were reading text talk, would our IQ rise? We're reading a foreign language!

Hmm... I suppose it's kind of like solving riddles so maybe it can. It's a good practice for problem solving! xp

'Txt-tlk' (aslo known as n00bspeak, ch@t-sp33k, etc. ) isn't a foreign language. It's a diversion of English. We don't see german people saying 'G|_|73|| 7@G' do we? It's not a language. Also, deciphering it is a good challenge (I've mastered it, think MR and UAQ forums), but it has no values because nothing anyone who uses it is worth listening to.

Well, no, but for a second there, I felt pretty proud of myself for deciphering that German. xp

Your IQ wouldn't rise, but you'd be damn good at deciphering codes and understanding other languages.

I'm illiterate in txt tlk, unfortunately.
I can only understand the bare minimum if you give me a couple of hours to decipher one word.
It is, however, a good way of learning how to solve code, I suppose.

I suppose it's a valuable thing to learn in a world where an increasing number of people use it.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2007 12:53 pm
It can be used to solve code, as a lot of people in the thread have pointed out. And maybe it could create another code, so that the text talk inadept can't understand it.

The fact I can read that peice of German perfectly fine unnerves me.

(For some reason, I can't use backward spaces, so the actual word is Wahnsinnexzentriker, guess it)
