PROFILE
Aural Vampire are a Gothic band from Tokyo. Their music combines a surprisingly upbeat sound that stems from Techno and New Wave influences, and lyrics that mix a dark, horror-like view of the world with popular interests. When written in Japanese, Aural Vampire can also be read as Oral Vampire, giving the band name a sexual twist. Apart from his work with Aural Vampire, composer Raveman also works as a DJ.
BIOGRAPHY
EXO-CHIKA and Raveman met in high school where they were classmates, united by a love for Western horror movies and bizzare art. After leaving school they participated in various music projects until they decided to "become heroes of the Japanese Dark Scene", with EXO-CHIKA in the role of a vampire woman and Raveman as the butcher out of a B-movie. Thus, Aural Vampire was born.
In 2004, their debut album Vampire Ecstasy was released, followed in 2005 by the online only release Death Folder, which contains three songs and the Flash animation Economical Animal Superstars. In order to reach fans of dark music all over the world, it is available as free download on their website.
In February 2007, Aural Vampire embarked on their first International tour through The Netherlands and Germany, where they performed together with Sins of the Flesh and The Pussybats and also played three one-man shows.
