This is piggybacking "Gray or grey?"
To me, the "dying" spelling seems right to me, but I'm pretty sure that "dieing" is right, too. And it's not underlined for spell check, either.

When spelling a word ending in -ing, you never have 'e' before 'i'...but maybe in some cases. It's 'dying'.

The present participle of "die" (as in death) is "dying". I don't think I've seen anyone use "dieing" for this meaning.
However, according to dictionary.com, "dieing" is the present participle of the transitive verb "die" which means cutting with a die. ("Die" can also be a noun meaning "a device for cutting or stamping material".) That might be why your spell-checking software didn't underline it, because there is such a word.

I probably would've spelled it "dying," because I didn't think there was such a word as "dieing," but I guess there is! xd
