Seriously, why is is so amazing that people find a twelve year old with proper grammar? Is it because today's generation is hooked on texting or IMs? Discuss please.

I'm 11. If I chat to somebody on the internet they usually think I'm around 17.

MadnessFreak I'm 11. If I chat to somebody on the internet they usually think I'm around 17. I would have never guessed that you're eleven. o.o
But wow.. This proves that there are still literate pre-teens out there. It makes me smile. X3

I believe in Jesus Christ, my Savior. If you do too, and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this into your signature. It's a relief to see that a few young people care about the integrity of our language. Still though, I shudder to think of what things will be like 20-30 years from now. Will I even recognize the language?

I am also 11. I'm the top of my grade, and I've been called genius, superbrain, and many other things. But this isn't about me.
Yay for being YOUNG and ALIIIIVE. And PROPER!
Edit: On the subject of IM/texting, I actually spell out my words while talking online. Like on here. Sometimes, after a long day of testing my physical abilities, I don't capitalize. Shocking, really.

Awesome. Whenever people ask me how old I am after talking to me, I tell them I'm 12 and they do things like:
Wow! You're really 12?!!!
-pats me with some level of literacy-
Yup. ^^

I'm thirteen now. So I'm not that much of a prodigy. Then again, 2 years ago, people really thought I was smart for my age.
It's good to know people are using correct grammar at eleven. We've lost a lot of hope, but there's still hope yet.

I guess it's because of the massive amount of young people that don't know how to spell longer words or haven't learned proper grammar that makes it a sort of internet stereotype against you guys. Sorry. sweatdrop
That's not to say that all twelve-year-olds use bad grammar, because apparently you don't. I think it also has to do with the massive amounts of older people that choose not to use correct grammar that make themselves sound less intelligent/younger. The only reason younger would be associated with less intelligent would be because the older you get, the more you learn.

Ah ever since I was little I've always had good grammar (that's not to say I didn't go through the text talk phase when I was 13). I have always loved to spell correctly and use good grammar and this even though I learned English at school since my mom spoke nothing but Spanish at home.

But seriously, I get soo annoyed when books, even, have bad grammar. I mean, I get it when someone's talking (really, though, why not have them be intelligent?), but it's just obnoxious when throughout the whole book, incorrect grammar is used.

Huh, when I was younger it was the same thing: I learned to read at a REALLY young age: before I was seven years old, and I became good at it really quickly after that. It caused a lot of annoying situations...
Ms. Morse: No! You need to do phonics!
But... I can read, ma'am! *holds up 'The Hobbit'* I finished this yesterday!
Ms. Morse: No! You can't read! Phonics! *shoves 'The Cat in the Hat'*
I read that when I was like 5, ma'am! crying
Ms. Morse: C-A-T!
B-I-L-B-O!
Ms. Morse: C-A-T!
B-A-G-G-I-N-S!
sweatdrop My 1st grade teacher seriously thought I had ADD because I wouldn't pay attention to her... She was teaching Learn-By-Phonics when I had already read The Hobbit... sweatdrop
Now I'm 16. It hasn't gotten any better; I get into these long drawn-out conversations about symbolism and stuff with my English teacher and he always looks a little disturbed. Along with the rest of the class, that is.
Have you ever noticed how in ....
Class: *GROAN* There she goes again...
scream SHADDUP I'M SPEAKING ABOUT INTELLIGENT THINGS! scream
