She tried to explain that she couldn't change the way she was, but they only laughed at her. It came to the point where they would ignore her, laughing if she tried to talk. The sadness was so great, it sealed her voice.

Sari slowly woke up from the bed she had made the last night. It wasn't a bed, really, just a large cardboard box she had found on top of one of the trash cans. If it was trash, she figured, they would have no problems if she used it, it wasn't like they were going to use it again. She closed her eyes again, and thought of home, all the painful memories of being taunted and put down by all the other kids, and, even though they had to stop the kids and set an example as parents, the adults. For this reason, she prefered to stay in her fox form for most of her time, as she was now. She opened her eyes and slowly climbed out. Perhaps, she thought, today would be the day I finally find someone who cares for me...

It was the same assurance she had given herself every day for the past year and a half.

sasuke walked around and saw her. he walked up to her. "hello there" he said and knelt down looking at her. "you're cute" he said smiling.

Sari looked up in suprise at Sasuke, before looking down, embarrassed someone had actually taken notice of her. She was suprised he wasn't taunting her yet, as so many people would have done by now. What was more, he looked happy to have seen her. That was something she didn't have happen every day.

sasuke held his hand out to her with some food in it. "are you hungry?" he asked.

Sari nodded, she hadn't eaten for the past 20 hours. She carefully took the food out, and ate it, keeping her eyes on him warily, as she studied him closely. No one in her village had been this nice to her, only really allowing her shelter, and nothing else. She had, however, learned to get along on her own, so she at least knew how to defend herself, either as a fox or human.

She had, however, learned to get along on her own, so she at least knew how to defend herself, either as a fox or human.

sasuke smiled as she ate and patted her head. "is this where you live?" he asked.

Sari whimpered, nodding her head. She had been banished for a year and a half to this day, and she had had to live off of whatever she could find. Places to sleep weren't that bad, just a cardboard box would do, but sometimes she missed the idea of living with someone who cared for you.

sasuke gently picked her up. "would you like a home to live in?" he asked kindly.

Sari looked up at Sasuke, suprised. He really did care for her, not just trying to taunt her, as so many other people have done. Feeling a bit happier, she nodded and gave a light bark.

Sari turned her head away, glad she was in her fox form. If she had been human right then and there, she would have been red. Looking up at him and measuring him, she jumped onto his shoulder and gave a light yip.
