I bit my bottom lip. Hesitantly, I leaned my head down and gently nestled my ear against his chest. It was a empty sound...no heart beat, no racing pulse. Zim, zilch, nada. "...I thought...you were pulling my leg earlier." I went to sit back up again.

He smiled weakly. "Don't worry, there's still a heart there." He looked around. "I suppose we should get out of here." He got up with a "GRAGHAGHUGHAAAAAAAAAAGH!" then took steps forward, making other sounds of pain as he moved.

"Wait a sec!! You're going to die...again..." I blinked, shaking my head, but jumping up and running to his side, looking up at him with my large, bright eyes. Like a puppy. "Lean on me, ok?" I gently drapped his arm around my shoulders.

"Okay." He made sounds of pain with every step, not even bothering to hide it. Burnt flesh peeled as he walked, and his feet felt like someone had taken a potato peeler to them... 7 times... and it was rusty...

I wrinkled my nose a bit and asked conversationally as we walked. "Do vampires take baths? You smell like something dead and burnt...then again, you are dead and burnt."

He smiled. "Indeed, we bathe. However, don't trust us to do our own make-up or hair. We aren't exactly mirror-compatible..."

I giggled madly as I gently sat him under a tree, my cheek ever so slightly brushing his as I made sure his hair wouldn't get stuck in any sap or other whatnot.

He hissed slightly as he was put down. "Don't you have a gig? You should get going. Never mind me."

My eyes met his and I teased softly. "Awww...the man who's in love with me so willing to let me go? Tsk tsk." I gave him a slight pout but stood up all the same. "I guess I will..you sure you'll be ok?"
