I don't think it's weird when people wear head scarves or hijab or whatever you wanna call it. But I don't wear them. I'm eighteen, I have never worn that type of head covering, I'm a virgin, I haven't been raped-- the most I've done at all is kiss someone. I'm bothered that this thread is basically saying nothing except "women who don't wear hijab are immoral sluts," because it isn't true.
I doubt I'll post here again, so don't bother replying to me.
I just want you to think your logic over.

My mom and my sisters dossen't wear hijab...
I don't know about You guys, but I just have my own way of thinking... And I think hijab is a important thing if You are a good muslim. But it is your own choise!

aww i love the hajab!!! its soo easy...heh... plus in away it give me more confidence... and im representing islam...so whats greater then that...heh but i wouldn't say your a bad muslim if you dont wear a hajab b/c thats not for me or anyone else to judge only Allah knows whose a good muslim and a bad one...so yeah... 3nodding

Mini_Angel_1994 Al salamu alaykom; The best thing that I've ever done in my life, is that I wore Hijab, I'm very proud of it. But the one thing I can't understand, why do girls delay it when they're like in university! I mean Hijab is really important!! Every girl should try putting Hijab on, and it's not as bad as it seems. It protects us. I can't really seem to understand what is wrong with Hijab? The only reason I wore it at my age ( I'm going to be 14 on 25th of October ) Is because my parents said it was too early for you, and wear it when you feel most ready. So I did it! I know every human is a sinner, but shouldn't you just stop your sins and do whatever Allah tells you? Try it, just try it, and the thawab will be yours, and remember, it is an order from Allah, you're disobeying Allah!! Isn't he the only worthy to be worshiped? Then why don't you worship him in the way he wants? I can't seem to understand; so those who doesn't wear hijab, why don't you wear it? Is something wrong with it? Just let us imagine, that if the whole girls in the world, wore hijab, wouldn't it just be the greatest thing?
Hey that's my birthday too! But I have to say you're as old as my younger brother. Well I've been wearing Hijab since I was 11, and to me it was never a big deal, it was a choice. Just as religion is a choice, wearing modest clothes or observing parda is the same way.
I have many Muslim friends who don't wear the veil, and some of them are saying that they will start up because of me, not that I ever inforced it upon them.
Another thing is that most people here have the mentality that either Hijab is forced upon the girl by her parents or religion, or that because we are "western" now no one will accept us if we wear the Hijab.
So yeah, it's just a matter of mentality, all I can say is, sure express your happiness towards your Hijab and religion, express your happiness towards "western" culture and overall be a postive thinker, that way people will naturally be geared towards you. Thus, perhaps causing your thinking to rub off on them. smile
Now about this every human is a sinner comment. Yes, we are born pure and we tend to pollute ourselves, but even if one wears a veil and prances around skipping Salat or backbiting about one's fellow human, you can hardly call them rightous. I would much rather call a pious non hijabi who never misses Salat and is very moral Religious then a Hijabi who is rude and has a tounge of a snake.
And, of course we must not forget the "Hijabi" girls who walk around with a tube scarf and bootie shorts, I will never forget those, I have a very embarrasing feeling around them, people actually stare at us to see that I am standing around in a coat and the girl a few feet away has bootie shorts higher then normal. But then again it is funny, but utterly disrgraceful.
Well, I must say happy birthday to us both in October on the 25th! I will finally be legal! biggrin And I plan to start wearing long gowns/coats instead of my skirt and midsized coat style now.

It's a stupid piece of cloth in my opinion. Whether or not you wear it shouldn't be a determination of how "modest" or "chaste" a woman is.
I say this because I'm not Muslim, and I don't see the point. But since it is commanded by God in the Qu'ran, I suppose there's a reason for it for Muslim women.
From what? Lustful thoughts? From rape? Rape is a matter of dominance, not lust. You could be walking in a burqa and it wouldn't matter to the guy who wanted to rape you.

Maybe for you, but not for me. I'll explain my friend, 1. Hijab is a choice, just as becoming a Nun or Monk is a choice, or even choosing which college you want to go to is a choice. I chose Hijab, my friend didn't. So in this case I disagree with both of you. Though, since I chose wearing Hijab at early age it must be easier then other girls. 2. Look, if you wear Hijab everyone knows your Muslim, so you have to Represent, you can't just go off and do stupid things like get drunk in a bar and wake up in someone elses bed, people will be like WTF? WHATTHISCRAZYMUSLIMGIRLDOING?! It should keep you from doing things your not suppose to. 3. Just as you wear your beanie, I wear my Hijab, and man was I giving some serious thought into joining the Army, but then I just thought I'd try my luck and Surgery. The point is that one wears Hijab for God. Now, no joke, hair is one of the most beautiful parts of a woman, and almost all women go to great lengths to get their hair as they like it, so Hijab is there as a sacrifice almost, it's really personal, therefore it's kind of hard for me to explain to you mainly because you are not Muslim and that would mean I would have to find out what you do and don't know about Islam and tell you from there. 4. Read my other post and what I've said, it a personal thing with God. I feel closer to God when I wear my Hijab, like how one pulls off his hat when showing respect to a higher authority, I wear my scarf to show respect to God. I don't know how much I helped, but I tried. biggrin
