Personality blurp: Zarafshan is a prissy old girl who is very set in her ways. As the leader of the group, she tends to fuss at individuals when something needs to be done instead of commanding like she ought to, and the others so far have respected her wisdom because of her age and her past in the colony they are returning to. But once they return and Zarafshan realizes that she’s taken them back to the sickness… well, she’ll feel just awful. She’ll probably temporarily give up her haughty ways and tend the sick out of guilt.
Plot ideas? When Zarafshan returns with the others and they start getting sick, it will be a major crisis for her. She’ll be extremely depressed, self-doubting, and probably start trying to help others and martyr herself to the Gods she believes in to get them to help her friends. Eventually, something should snap her out of it, though. Maybe she meets a God, or one of the leaders talks to her, or maybe the sickness gets better and the colony recovers. Either way, it will be a major life-changing event for her, and something will have to snap her out of it before she gets back to her old self.
I was also kind of thinking a plot where a younger male develops a crush on her. I’d like to play her as old but maybe not ancient, with the possibility of still having a litter or two if she had a male in her life. But after her depression, she would have probably given up on such things. Maybe the young guy can teach her to love again! (sappy much?
