Gently #2 shook for the first time, this motion was outshone however when the egg in front of it exploded. #6 shattered, leaving a tiny red-eyed blue in it's place. The blue looked at those surrounding him and snorted in disgust. The blue turned his nose up at those around him. He'd have stalked off, but they were in every direction so it wasn't like he cold go anywhere to get away from them. Sitting down the blue made a point to start cleaning his claws, purposefully ignoring those that had gathered around to witness his hatching.

#25 gave an insulted peep, ignoring the now determined shakes of #8 and #10 nearby. Why, nobody was paying attention to her at all. That was just rude! She was supposed to be admired. The green sat up even straighter, mantling her wings. See how pretty she was? Why wouldn't anyone tell her how pretty she was. Ugh, this was so irritating.

Nearby another green seemed to have heard what she wanted. For the most part #4 had been content to nose at the eggs around her, check they were all okay. The newborn tried to ignore the thoughts around her, mental calls to tie herself to others. That wasn't really what she wanted. To be some laplizard who was always made to sit on someone's shoulder like a decoration. A whisp of thought then caught her attention and had the green shifting away from her siblings. Could she? Would they not mind? The green jumped from the basket and walked without hesitation towards a candidate. Could #4 really fly free and Saris wouldn't mind? For that #4 would love her immensely. To have a friend, not a captor. That was what this green truly desired.

Lycaste Green - Wilful, Nurturing, Bossy

Seemingly spurred on by all the activity #40 twitched, bumping the nearby #39. For a moment the two stayed still, before both in unison jumped and bumped once more. A third time and cracks were spreading across their shells. A forth and two firelizards found themselves lying together in the pink and purple shards. The two greens chittered happily at each other. Their plan had worked and they were free. Slowly the two managed to untangle themselves without injury, revealing that they were, in fact, different shades.

User ImageUser Image

#39, the paler of the two greens, chittered excitedly at her sister. The green practically vibrated with excitement, her eyes turning away to look up at all the people around them. Wasn't this exciting? #40 seemed more composed. Pleasant greens and blues whirled slowly in the darker green's eyes as she looked at her enthusiastic sister. She hummed softly and nudged at her sister. Well? Go on then. Needing no further encouragement #39 leapt from the basket, leaving #40 behind to sit carefully in the basket.

The lightly striped green zipped and darted back and forth. It was all so exciting, how could she pick just one? There were so many bright and colourful minds for her to choose from and she was supposed to pick just one? How had all her clutchsiblings managed? The green saw plenty of them around, being fed and loved. She wanted that. Oh, but which one to choose? The answer was seemingly made for her when the racing green collided head-first with an ankle. Bouncong off she landed with a thunk in the sand. Sitting up and shaking her head she looked up, her eyes finding K'kaw immediately. You! You would love and feed her! That was perfect!

Oregano's Fair

Oregano was, frankly, less than impressed. Firelizards going off in every direction and none had even looked over at her fair. This needed attending to. Looking about she started to nudge her fair into a more presentable set-up. Strawberry, your foul mood could go in the back. Acerola and Durian up front, be sweet and approachable. Goose, yes, good, keep puffing up like that and showing how strong you are. Gren, Gally, put down the spiderclaw. Letting out a little huff the green pulled the spiderclaw away from the squabbling brothers. It wasn't for them it was for the little ones. They could have whatever was left.

Sweeping at the sand she made a little flat area, placing the spiderclaw down and using her strong jaws to break through the shell so the meat was exposed. A newly hatched firelizard might not even know how to get into a spiderclaw, but now there was an accessible hole for them. Next to it she placed her fish. Arranging the scraps of meat the others had brought and placing Blackcurrant's meatroll in the front where he would no doubt insist it go anyway. Looking back at her group she peeped to get their attention. Loving thoughts, everyone. They wanted to present the idea of safety and love for the little ones so that they would want to stay with them.

Saris
Hatchlings were crawling out of the basket, either finding their people or being lured out by food or something else. A dark shaded green seemed to be going somewhere, good for her to be so independent. Oh... oh! The green wanted her!

Shocked she offered the scraps in her hands, not attempting to pick the hatchling up but offering a free arm as a perch if she wanted to get off the sands and not be underfoot of the people. How much of a tragedy it would be if someone stepped on her accidentally! Now a small fear started to well in her that with all the crowding someone, human or firelizard, might get hurt. No words came out as her throat tightened at the thought of speaking up, of telling everyone to step back. All she could do was feed her new green friend and worry.

Dartani
Her little queen was starting to slow down, but the scraps she had picked up were also nearly all gone. There might be some left with Ostarath, but that meant she would need to push through the crowd to get more. Awkwardly she tried to cradle the gold in one arm and feed while trying to shield with the other should someone knock into them. Worse, someone might get it in their mind to try and physically take her away seeing her colour.

Dartani carefully circled from outside the crowd until she could get closer to the green dragon and her bag of scraps. "Sorry Ostarath, just trying to get through." She apologized to the weyrling and she gingerly stepped around for the meat sack, taking another handful to offer for the gold's inspection and approval. Would be a pain to try and get back out again, might be safer to just stay and watch from here. Certainly was closer.

M'tha and Green Glafateth
M'tha leaned against her young green. What do you think? There are a number of adorable greens hatching, Glafateth commented, her eyes whirling a happy blue. There are! Green is such a good color. She smiled and focused on trying to attract a pretty green to her. A green would make a nice addition to their duo.

Candidate Verria
Several of the firelizards waddled off and picked their people. Verria kept watch on the rest. It made her smile there was a wild fair also there with offerings. Well why not? They should have a chance too. She was surprised they were so brave to approach.

V'lla and Brown Ardnamuth
V'lla could only shrug when the candidate asked why Ardna did what he did. He had his reason and he wasn't one to usually explain them. "Just follow his advice, he'll try to help." And you should focus too V'lla mine! We won't get one of our own if you don't focus on them. The brown chided gently with love. V'lla laughed softly and nodded. She thought how handsome the dusky blue cleaning his claws was.

L'yan and Bronze Washawath
L'yan smiled at the young green. "Nothing wrong with that. It'll give her one that won't fly the coop. They are pretty cute," he nodded. It'd be nice to get another firelizard. His own little green came down to land on his shoulder and cheeped at Seistreth and Cypress.

F'ked and Blue Lerenth
With his new green gently secured on his arm, the rider moved back to give others more room. He crooned softly to the new firelizard. In the back of his mind he felt the amusement of Lerenth, his blue dragon. What? She's adorable. Lerenth only laughed at his rider in his mind. You're a big softie

Robin and Blue Glory

Robin watched the ewggs carefully, still holding stew meat chunks out as Glory pranced about her shoulders, cheeping enthusiastically at each Impression. It was so lovely to see others safe! So beautiful! Robin, for her part, was watching, finally looking to the flit dancing.

"You are just happy to see them happy, huh?" She cooed.

Amila and greens Seistrewth and Cypress

"It does. She wanted to mother everyone while with her clutch. And I know she misses them all. She's very maternal, I think. And lovey."

Seisytreth, for her part, crooned again bewfore turning a sublime gaze to the basket, and creeled encouragingly. ome along babies, there were bonds to make!

Ostarath nodded slowly at Dratani, her eyes whirling a happy blue. She didn't mind if people needed to climb over her to get at the meat that they had brought. So long as all the firelizard's were fed she was happy. Meanwhile in the basket #6 gave another disgruntled huff. This was boring, he wanted something more exciting, but they were all being so boring. Looking around he spotted #27, the green stomping through the basket without much grace. He peeped once, a dull tone, that had the green trotting over to warmly nuzzle at the blue. She nipped playfully, nudging and darting around the blue. #6 tried to ignore her call to play, but couldn't resist for long, poncing after the green.

It would have all been in good fun, had #27 showed some control. Her running around bumped several eggs. #24, which had yet to move of their own accord, was sent rolling along against the side of the basket, while #8 and #18 were left with cracks from their sibling's game. The worst affected though was #13. The pair ran by and the green stepped on the egg, putting a hole clean through the shell. Giving a delighted squeal she ran off, still trying to avoid her blue brother. #13 was however less than impressed. A blue head emerged from the hole and managed to look as offended as a small firelizard could. That was just rude! The blue slunk out of the egg and gave himself an irritable shake. He was a very striking firelizard, and certainly seemed to know it. Seeming to pose even as his eyes watched his siblings run around.

User Image

Several eggs were yet trying to hatch. #37 was making decent progress, chipping away at their shell and making a steadily bigger hole. Tiny claws pushed and pulled steadily at the shell, making the gap ever wider, but still the firelizard didn't reveal themselves. Strangely, once the gap was surely wide enough for a firelizard to get through the egg stopped moving all together. One heartbeat, two, three. Was the hatchling alright? Was the firelizard inside alright? They had been doing so well just a short while ago. All of a sudden a form sprung out. A blue leapt from the shell, landing neatly in the sand. How was that for an entrance?

User Image

Things were getting far too crowded for #1 tastes. All this running around. It was irritating. The green aimed a snap at #27 as she darted by. Don't think that #1 had forgotten about you. Getting her out of her egg like that. The dimglow hadn't even bothered to learn her lesson afterwards and that was even worse. The green stalked away from the basket and looked up at her choices. Ugh. Too chipper. Too timid. #1 stalked more, and got ever more irritated. They were all so nosy and needy. Her mind cast wide and found a space of calm she liked the feel of. Marching forward #1 stopped in front of S'var, tiny angry eyes looking up at him. Well? Was he going to pick her up and feed her or not?

Cherry Blossom Green - Angry, Careful, Confident

Eleven eggs were still left to hatch, and firelizards already seemed to be everywhere. #10 bounced, two cracks meeting on the blue shell with a snap. #29 was going to be the next one out though. A green back foot suddenly kicking a large shard of egg away. Hauling herself out of the egg the green immediately set her eyes on those around her. She. Was. Starving. Absolutely ravenous. Bounding forward she looked up at the first person to hold food out for her. Ugh, what was that? The newborn green recoiled from the meat held out to her. That looked awful. She was starving, yes, but she wasn't desperate. #29 would rather die than eat... that. Surely someone had some decent food to offer her?

User Image

#27 and #6's game had lead them all around the basket, including out of it and back in several times. The pair went darting out among feet, over boots and between claws. It was then that #27 found her self on a very unique pair of feet. They were white. She'd never seen white claws before. Forgetting her game the green scampered up the also white leg, snuffling at the peculiar hide, all the way up to Asparagoth's head. Leaning over she looked into his eyes, much larger than she was. You are very odd you know? Despite this the little firelizard radiated warmth. She liked this odd one very much.

Primrose Green - Observant, Warm, Disruptive

Back on the ground #6 gave a cheep of displeasure. She had left him! Tail flopping into the sand he sulked off. It had been such a fun game, why did she have to go and ruin it? It would have been different if he had ended the game, but it wasn't fair if she did. Back in the basket another blue was also unhappy about what was going on. He wanted someone to come and feed him, but they all just stood there. #32 gave a sad creel. Why would nobody come and feed him? Nearby #2 rocked, a crack moving down the dull purple shell. Across the basket #36 jerked, a fresh line splitting across the shell.

The bright coloured shell of #30 jolted. It seemed that whoever was inside was done with being inside. They wanted out and they wanted out now. With a sudden burst of energy the egg began to jump, roll, twist, and rock as the firelizard inside thrashed about. The egg was no match for their determination and a moment later all that remained was a pale blue firelizard surrounded by shards. His chest heaved from the effort, but he was victorious. Who among them was brave enough to approach him?

S'var

"Well hello there little one, fiery aren't you?" S'var reached down with his empty hand, allowing the green to crawl onto his palm before lifting her out of the throng to offer her a little cube of fish. The hatchling devoured it instantly and chattered at her new human for more, which he was only too happy to provide. "What shall I call you?" he wondered aloud as the tiny thing busily stuffed herself. There was no rush to think of one particularly but he did prefer things to be in order and done properly, which definitely meant having something to call her sooner rather than later.

S’yn with Lacey (again)
No sooner had S’yn gotten back to the weyrling barracks with his precious cargo to show Contrarath when Ostarath’s voice cut through his thoughts again, and a smirk spread across his face. “Anyone, hm? Sounds like she has more eggs to give away.”

And you already got one, Contrarath pointed out, his eyes awhirl with his amusement.

“Why stop at one?” S’yn asked with a cheeky grin as he turned right back around to head down to the Hatching Caverns, Lacey still eagerly perched on his shoulder and his new firelizard egg held carefully in his hands. It, too, would hatch soon; already he could feel the firelizard inside it wiggling and trying to peck at the shell encasing it.

A quick walk later found him entering the Caverns, and he made a beeline right for Ostarath and her following of firelizards. There were other people around already, of course there were, but he didn’t pay any of them any mind, opting to head right to the young green dragon. “Hullo again Ostarath, I hope you don’t mind that we’re back!” With that said he grabbed a couple small pieces of meat both for his egg that seemed quite determined to hatch now and to potentially lure in a second that had already hatched. It’d be lovely to have a pair to raise together. Would they stick to each other all the time, or would they squabble constantly, or somewhere in between?

His first egg chose that moment to hatch, the little brown shoving his nose and then his entire head through the shell to let out a particularly loud peep. Lacey trilled happily, practically prancing about on her bonded’s shoulder. S’yn chuckled at them both and offered the newly hatched brown a small piece of meat once he rid himself of the rest of his shell, and then kept an eye on the others to see if he could coax a second over perhaps. Two were twice as fun!

And twice the work, Contrarath reminded him, a laugh evident in his silken mindvoice.

Oh hush, you’re just jealous they’re getting my attention right now instead of you.

I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Vasilir with Grace and Honor
The first time he’d heard her, Vasilir had dismissed the thought of an egg hunt as a silly game for others to play. He had much more important things to do than run all around the Weyr, looking for a dragon that could be practically anywhere, especially given the fact she’d not stay in one place too long. No thank you, he’d pass on that, thanks very much -- however much Grace wanted him to go. Honor seemed keen on going too, but he suspected the blue firelizard had a much different reason for it. He did love to play, after all.

He firmly ignored her sad expressions and mournful, slightly over-dramatic cheeps in favor of reading a scroll for his next lesson (that absolutely did not have a romance story lain over top of it), one he managed to get a good portion of the way through before Ostarath’s voice slipped into his head again.

Vas made the mistake of glancing over at Grace and Honor over his definitely academic scrolls, then heaved a slightly heavier-than-normal sigh as he rolled them back up. “Alright, fine, we can go.”

Eggs and babies and babies and eggs assaulted his mind the instant Grace jumped up and launched herself into the air, bugling her joy, and Vas held an arm out to signal both firelizards to land on his shoulders. “One firelizard. We can go and see if maybe we can get one. I know you’d like to have all of them, but you can’t. I’m sure lots of other people want to have one, and they can’t if you try to keep them all for yourself.”

Grace peeped as she alighted on his left shoulder - Honor landed on his right - and radiated a reluctant feeling of begrudging acceptance that she couldn’t have all the babies for herself.

It didn’t take long at all to reach the Hatching Caverns, and once he did he gave Ostarath a polite bow - even if she wasn’t mother of the clutch, she still had all of the eggs and it was only polite - and a quiet “thank you for this” before he, like some of the others around, took a piece or two of meat for the babies. Grace and Honor both leapt off his shoulders to get closer to the basket of hatching eggs, eager to see them all, and Vas was pleasantly surprised that (so far) he only had to swat Honor away from the meat just three times before he stopped trying to steal some for himself.

K'lir

Finding your own dragon when they insisted on hiding where they were from you, was a surprisingly difficult task. K'lir was sure he had turned the entire Weyr upside-down looking for Ostarath, but he hadn't caught even a glimpse of her. Did it make him a bad rider, not being able to find his dragon? He didn't think so. If it was important then Ostarath wouldn't hide from him. The green was just having fun, so K'lir didn't think that letting her made him a bad rider. Although let was an interesting way to describe what he was currently doing. The young man was concerned, but he wasn't actively upset with his dragon. She was a good dragon, he just wished she was easier to pin down sometimes.

Word eventually reached him, in the form of overheard conversation, that the egg bearing green had come to a stop in the hatching cavern. It seemed the eggs were hatching now. Turning about the greenrider headed for the hatching caverns. At least Ostarath wouldn't be able to run off for a while. She was flighty, but not irresponsible enough to abandon the eggs she had gathered together.

Reaching the cavern K'lir found several people already there, and plenty of firelizards around. Picking his way through the crowd wasn't too difficult, mainly because he was heading for Ostarath and not the basket. Reaching the dragon's side he tried to look disapproving. If only it had held up for even a moment once those swirling blue eyes looked his way. Lying down the green was about eye level with him, leaning forward she nuzzled his face until the young man laughed, hugging her around the neck. He couldn't even pretend to be unhappy with her.

#25's protests turn from peeps to a single determined shriek. She jumped up onto the side of the basket and flared her wings. Not one! Not one had told her how lovely she was! None of them deserved her. Not a single one among them. The tiny green's eyes whirled an angry red. She was livid, this was unacceptable. Outrageous! Any of them would be lucky if she even spared them a glance. Behind the green, completely unnoticed by her, #24 finally gave a lurch. The egg hadn't moved once so far and was the last to do so. The lurch was sluggish and the egg quickly settled back down.

Despite their sister's distress, #18 had been methodically rocking for since they had been jostled by their sibling's earlier game. Back and forth they rocked, thin cracks formed across their shell with each motion. Finally, after a great deal of effort, the side of the egg collapsed. A pale blue flopped out onto the sand. Quickly he scrambled to his feet, looking around brightly. Without even a moment of hesitation, the newly hatched blue jumped from the basket and darted into the crowd. He was going to find the best person out there, and he didn't plan to wait for them to come find him.

User Image

Huh, none? That was disappointing. #30 had so hoped someone would be brave enough to step forward. The blue wanted someone bold. Looked like he would have to find them himself. No worry, it wasn't the worst situation, at least he had plenty of choices. Hoping down onto the warm sands the tiny blue began his search. A peep caught his attention and the blue looked up, spotting a brown hatching in a young riders hands, while an adult green trilling happily. They looked like a fun group. Trotting over the blue came to a stop at the groups feet, adding a trill of his own. Room for one more?

Geranium Blue - Cooperative, Courageous, Determined

The purple-pink shell of #12 had been steadily gaining cracks. There was more room for the eggs to shift and roll around now as eggs broke and firelizards left the basket. There was plenty of space for #36 to move around without hitting their siblings, but with how spirited their movements were it wasn't surprising that they eventually collided with someone. That unfortunate someone was #12. The already heavily cracked egg crumbled when it was bumped by the blueish egg. A mottled bronze was left blinking in the wreckage of his egg. That wasn't what he had been intending, but he was happy to be out nonetheless.

#12 turned his head to look at the still bucking #36. There was a large crack down the side, but it didn't seem to be widening at all. Carefully #12 stepped forward and sniffed at the crack, a gentle trill in his throat. The dark egg bucked wildly, #12 barely jumping back in time to avoid being struck again. Quietly the bronze crooned, soothing the egg enough for it to pause. Stepping forward the newly hatched firelizard worked his claws into the crack, digging and pulling at the gap. It gradually widened until another head suddenly shoot out, looking at #12 with narrowed eyes. The grey-toned #36 looked at his brother with suspicion. He might still be in the egg, but he already knew people didn't do things for nothing. #12 sighed bumping his head against his bronze brother with a gentle croon. He was helping, because helping was what he should do. The mottled firelizard waited as the other hauled himself out of the egg, #36 taking the time to jump on his egg and completely destroy the shell.

K'kaw was watching his brother's amusing antics trying to entice any flits around with some bits of meatroll, not sure if pastry was a good thing for newly hatched firelizards to eat. Judging from the fact none seemed interested, he guessed not and was about to tell K'kar as such when something bumped his ankle, he looked down and immediately melted at the little green, "Well aren't you just lovely" he smiled, scooping her up gently and placing her in his lap to feed her small strips of raw wherry meat.

K'kar glanced over from his attempts at his twin and ... his new green flit "nice one bro" he said quietly, more than happy for him, he still felt guilty he'd impressed first and left K'kaw standing alone until he'd finally impressed Leucorth, and they were a team again.... kind of... maybe.... He still felt that distance between them and it hurt a little. Only thing he could do was try and mend it, but it did take two, bet K'kaw was glad he'd been dragged along now he thought, chuckling to himself before switching to a bit of cold bubbly pie to try and entice a flit to himself.

Kindra had been having no luck with the fish and had switched to raw meat when a green had come towards her, she'd sent out welcoming thoughts but was taken aback by the recoil.... was it her the green recoiled from? ... Oh... she got a distinct feeling it was the meat that had offended her. "I'll have you know this is good meat, if it's good enough for my dragon, it's good enough for you" she muttered at the disgusted green.

Speaking of a certain white dragon, Asparagoth stayed perfectly still when the most adorable little green came towards him, then began climbing him, not even twitching when sharp claws scratched at his hide as she reached his head to look into his eye. "Yes little one, that's because i am much bigger than you, i have been told i'm odd before, but i like being odd" he said, ever so carefully, ever so gently as he just issued out warm feelings to her, as well as extreme happiness at her presence. "MINE...." he mentally whispered loudly, "mine, come quick, bring me your basket of meat" he demanded, he NEVER demanded anything of her like this, so she obeyed quickly, dumping half of the contents of her food basket between his claws, stunned, "She is mine, my precious little baby green... Baby, how does that sound for a name little cousin?" he said to the green, barely able to contain his happiness and excitement that she had chosen HIM... out of all the humans... she chose HIM... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Kindra just stared at her dragon as she went back to her cushion on the sands... did...that green just impress to her Asparagoth? She could feel the contained glee from him though and couldn't help but be happy for him.

S’yn with Lacey (again)
When the tiny blue stopped before them and trilled his hello, Lacey trilled right back and eagerly hopped down into S’yn’s lap to get a closer look at the two new hatchlings. The brown craned his neck to look up at the older green and returned the trill, then down to the other blue, and trilled a second time before scrambling out of S’yn’s hands and down to the hot sands.

S’yn chuckled and offered a piece of meat to the both of them. “Well, don’t you two make a handsome pair?” He cooed at them both, watching as they eagerly scarfed down the bits of meat. It was getting just a tad crowded with so many people - and dragons, and other firelizards - around hoping to impress one of the little creatures, so S’yn reached forward to scoop up his new pair. “Come on, let’s go somewhere a little quieter so neither of you gets trampled, yeah? Then you can meet Contrarath.” Even if the blue wouldn’t admit it, he could feel how interested he was in meeting the two little firelizards.

Both of them cheeped at him - the brown much more than the blue - and he chuckled as he tucked them carefully against his chest as he stood, thanked Ostaroth once more, then began heading back to the barracks. Now, what to name them…

Vasilir with Grace and Honor
None of the babies seemed interested in her right away, but Grace was not deterred. If they wouldn’t come to her, she would go to them! Sensing her determination, Vasilir wordlessly passed her the tiny piece of meat - and swatted away Honor’s grasping paws again - which Grace took daintily in her mouth. She trotted over to the basket before rearing up on her hind legs, grasping the edge in her forepaws, and craning her neck to see over the edge.

There were so many of them left! Grace crooned at them all around the bit of meat in her mouth to give to one of them - sadly just one, despite the fact she wanted the whole basket of them - and peered around for one to give it to. Did any of them want to come with her, so she could dote on them and take care of them? At least one of them had seemed sad, or so she thought; would they come with her so she could feed them and snuggle them all better?

Robin and blue Glory

Glory was still cheering his compatriots on. They all could leave the baskeyt! Be free! Find yummy things, and Robin was acutely aware of the number of Girelizards beginning to watch them all, and looked around, offering some stew meat to onlookers whom seemed meatless. Why hoard the meat when it could help others?... It went into flits regardless!

Lifa and green Naysath

Naysath wormed in with herr rider, the green all eyes at the firelizards. While not a new sight, she adored all of the little ones she witnessed, the green all but prancing the edges of the Hatching Cavern's edges as Lifa stretched. They'd missed the game itself, but the greenrider had been doing drills. The woman finally moved, advancing towards the commotion with Naysath slipping after, all eyes peering at the firelizards as Lifa groaned.

Love, please stop oogling the newborns. Lifa asked, and Maysath creeled.

But they're so precious! Sop darling, Lifa! Can't I get close? Please?![/color[[ rthe green begged. Lifa stared.

Naysath... Come on. No.

The freen sulked, flattening herself as Lifa sighed, looking to the hatchings and to Osterath.

"Everything going well then?" She asked politely. "Naysath kind of begged her way in."

Bereck

Bereck absolutely did not need another firelizard, he and his four firelizards were definitely only here to observe and perhaps to assist if any of the hatchlings got injured. Definitely. Even so there was no harm in getting a bit closer to have a look, and so the healer and his faire approached the edge of the gathering and then sort of melded into it and drifted further towards the chaos...

Most of his faire did anyway, where was Sanguine? A moment later his question was answered as the brown reappeared with a tiny struggling fish, bit it on the back of the head to finish it off, and then dropped it into Bereck's hand which for some reason he had extended expectantly. Well then.

With fish in hand he turned his attention back the the mass of hatching flitts, there was a blue who seemed to be very particular about his cleanliness - a trait Bereck approved of - another one posing, and another making a rather showy entrance for a hatchling. A green caught his eye too, apparently she wasn't thrilled with the meat that had been waved under her nose - perhaps fish was more to her taste?

And then suddenly there was a- was that a blue? Yes a blue, taking to the sky and matters into his own wings as he set out in search of whatever it was he wanted - good for him. The pair of bronzes got a smile too, it looked like the brighter fellow was quite the responsible one (another trait Bereck approved of strongly) and his handsome, unusual greyish brother who seemed to be a bit of a born cynic - now that he understood.

As Bereck scanned the clutch his own four firelizards swooped and hovered around him humming welcome to the new little lives, save for Vena who remained perched on her human's shoulder to make her song - would another one join their group today?

A disgusted snort came from #29 as someone insinuated she was wrong. No, the meat looked terrible. Just because a dragon would settle didn't mean she was going to. Turning her back on the rider the green flicked her tail dismissively. Definitely not going over there then. A much larger firelizard appeared over the side of the basket and #29 paused, regarding the meat in her jaws. Nope, that was just as bad as the last offering. Grace's efforts were not in vain however as a sad hatchling called out to her. #32 lay in the sand of the basket and flopped his head dramatically to look at the gold. Would she really feed him? #32 would really appreciate it. And snuggle him? That was even better. The blue would love her forever for that.

Well, he had sat around here for quite long enough. #22 had been mostly keeping to himself, waiting for the goop on his hide to dry and getting used to this whole space thing, sat by the side of the basket by himself. Most people seemed content to overlook him and he was fine with that. More of his siblings were shooting off in all directions, and he supposed it was time to get a move on. Picking himself the brown walked away with heavy steps. Did there have to be this much of a fuss? So many people and so many thoughts. Spotting meat being held out the brown trotted up to L'yan and crouched. The brown eyed the human for a moment, before launching himself up and catching hold of the rider's wrist. He scrambled up and took hold of the meat, looking up at the young man.

There were five eggs left that hadn't managed to hatch yet, rolling and shifting somewhat sluggishly around in the basket. They were all moving at least, but some more enthusiastically than others. #2 slowly rolled over before going still again, while #24 jolted and a shard of egg popped off. It was the quite #34 however that was next to join the gathering. The shell just seemed to unfold, leaving a dainty blue curled up in the remains. Blinking slowly the little firelizard took it all in. Well, this was all rather overwhelming. Would he even be able to find someone to feed him with so much going on?

Well that was a different smell. The posing blue seemed to get distracted and #13 left the basket. He could smell meats of various types all over the place. He didn't have anything against meat, he was sure it was quite tasty, but this strange smell had caught his interest. He planned to seek out that peculiar smell and make whatever it was his. The blue wandered the crowd, so many scents mixing together and making the search quite difficult. He passed plenty of tempting offers, but he was on a trail now and had no plans to give up on it. The sweet smell beckoned. His quest finally led him to K'kar. His keen eyes honed in on the chunk of cold pie. That! That was what he wanted. Give it to him!

Yummy things? Where? A stray thought caught #23's attention if he left the basket he got yummy things? That seemed like a good deal to him. The brown jumped down off the side of the basket and into the sand. Now what? Where were his yummy things? He waited for a few heartbeats, before trailing after the thought. It led him right to the feet of Robin. The firelizard looked up at the meat being offered about. Was that the yummy thing? Shouldn't she be offering it to him instead of other people? The brown gave a peep to get her attention. Down here please, he liked yummy things.
