The Clearing

Almirrah saw the figure of a wolf just before her, and she continued to walk, watching him as she circled him. She was unable to see much of his face, for he looked like a mere silhouette to her in the darkness. She saw that he stood over a freshly killed animal, and she stopped then, looking from his kill to the wolf himself.
'I am sorry.. if I had disturbed you..' she began, knowing that it was a bit rude of her to appear while he had been eating
She paused, for a long moment, but then realized that he did not wish to introduce himself just yet.
'I am Almirrah' she stated. She sat down upon the grass, hoping that perhaps this would allow the wolf to feel less cautious about her being here.

As his abnormally keen eyes pierced through the darkness as he studied the femme even further. She was quite lovely, and unique in appearance. A horrid feeling rose in the pit of his stomach as he realized something. The brute, normally a self-proclaimed superior, saw something rather unsettling in this femme that made him feel her equal. Perhaps it was their similar fur coloration. Perhaps it was the look in her eyes. But whatever it was, he leveled with it, though he didn't quite know how he felt about it.
Unnaturally, he put aside his efforts to intimidate and unnerve. Instead, he politely, calmly, dipped his head low in greeting.
"Almirrah. A lovely name."
Instead of flashing his sinister, bloodied grin that he often used to unsettle his inferiors, he greeted his equal with an oddly charming, oddly soft smile.
His eyes, typically churning with blood-red hate and malice, glimmered with ruby tranquility.
"I am called Hellahi. I, ah..." He paused. He felt the need to explain himself, though he was unsure of what he should say.
"I stumbled upon this land not too long ago. I apologize if I've... intruded..."

Almirrah grinned at Hellahi's comment, and her two vampiric fangs gleamed in the moon's pale light. She quickly lowered her head to hide them from the male, and then cleared her throat.
She then shook her head.
'No.. you have not. I am sure this land allows outsiders to wander through, and.. perhaps join the pack' she replied. She was unsure of what to say to this new wolf, and she did not want to disrupt him from his meal. Instead, she lay her head down on her paws, allowing him to continue eating. She wondered how long it will be before the sun would rise from behind the mountains. For some reason, she did not wish for the sun to come, for she wanted to spend more time with Hellahi and not have to hide in the darkness until the next night.

Hellahi's smile widened slightly at her reaction to his comment, but the corners of his mouth twitched as he caught a glimpse of her fangs glimmering briefly in the moonlight.
He paused, but thought very little of it.
Blood dribbled down his muzzle, and he absent-mindedly licked at it. His smile had faded as he'd listened to her words.
His eyes fell, and he stared at the ground as he spoke. "Join the pack, hmm?" Repressing the urge to sigh, he simply shook his head. He smiled again, but briefly and cheerlessly.
He said no more and, eyes distant, he lowered his head back to his kill. He gave the flesh a violent tear, taking out whatever emotion he battled on the doe's corpse. He was a very troubled wolf. Very bitter. And such an action gave away a tiny glimpse of his true nature.

Almirrah felt she had disappointed Hellahi somehow. Normally she would have apologized for troubling him and would walk away.. but she did not want to part with him. The feeling was strange, and she yearned to be rid of it for it made her feel weaker.. somehow.. in her mind.
She listened to Hellahi as he ate, though she chose not to look-for the mere sight of blood would make her thirst for it unbearable.

Many long moments passed. The squelching of blood, the tearing of meat, and the occasional gunt from the brute were the only noises that broke the unsettling silence. He gave Almirrah the occasional glance, and gave himself a mental kick each time. His words, his actions, his entire demeanour... It was all completely unlike him. He had found his equal, and this both unnerved and fascinated him. His sudden longing for the femme's company, however, puzzled him beyond rationality. He had forgotten the urge to repel, and had found the urge to attract.
He hated himself for that.
He glanced at her once more, only to find himself gazing at her profile. Something about her seemed... almost ageless. Perhaps it was the way the moonlight graced her features.
Yes, surely this, and nothing more.
Eventually he found it useless to ponder such enigmas, and shifted his eyes back to the bloodied mess before him. He stared at it emptily.
So he stood, in a strange self-absorbed silence.

((ahh! you're leaving on the 12th?? sad ))

Almirrah lay in silence, staring off into space, resting her eyes. Then suddenly, her attention drew itself to the quick movements of a rabbit making its way across the barren field, leaping once.. and then stopping continuously as if it sensed nearby danger. She quietly moved into a leaping position, her body low to the ground, never losing sight of her prey. She waited until it stopped again to simply listen to its surroundings, and then she made her move.
Perhaps she was looking to impress Hellahi.. though there is not much to be impressed about in catching a mere rabbit. Anyway, she leaped towards it with great silent grace, and nearly blended into the night. To the rabbits eye, it seemed as if she had leaped from the moon itself-and in a moment, her shadow fell upon it. She grinned greedily at the feeling of warm blood as her claws pierced its flesh. When she landed, her weight crushed its fragile bones, and sent the animal to its death.
Removing her claws from its flesh, she picked it up in her mouth-the method she uses for feeding on most of her 'meals'-and threw her head back, allowing the warm blood to trickle into her mouth and satisfy her hunger. She remained in that pose for quite a long time, until the flow of blood seized. She then lowered her meal to the ground and drained what was left of its blood, her paws clutching at it greedily.

Readies his hind legs and launches forward missing the rabbit in his jaws by a hair and chases after it* "Let's go"
