Nope.

Solution:

If the boats starting point is the vessel and it takes 9 minutes to get to the island and back you can make three trips because you have twenty minutes.

There are 15 people in need of saving. And the boat can hold 5.

On man has to stay on the boat because it can't steer itself. On one revolution he saves four people and then goes back for more, again he saves another four and then goes back for more, with two minutes left upon arrival he can save another four people and himself this time.

Sadly two people won't make it, the answer is 13.

4 on the second.

And then the whole 5 get off on the third.

I dont understand

The ship is sinking in twenty minutes.

Assuming it takes them no time to get the raft out and prepared, that only allows for 2 9minute round trips

1 person has to stay on the raft to row, so only four can get on at a time.

In 18 minutes, 8 are saved, and with the addition of the rower, makes 9.

By the time the raft gets back to where the ship WAS, it wil lhave sunk, Resulting in the death of 6 people, either by drowning or shark attacks.

That makes perfect sense.

No you see, it takes them 9 minutes to get to the island and back to the ship.

The entire trip takes 9 minutes so once that period of time is up you'll be back at the ship.

So when your down to you last two minutes you'll be at the ship, giving you enough time to gather a few more people.
