Aden couldn't hide his relief when he saw Mareep trying to hang on. She didn't look like she could take much more. He was going to have to try something a little different. With Riolu still somewhat slowed down, he thought it'd be worth a shot.
"Come on, Mareep, we're not stopping that easily. Keep yourself out of the way and charge up!" She was quick to keep her distance as much as possible, building up what electricity she could. Her wool expanded a little as she kept moving, though she was gradually slowing down as well.

As much as he wanted to oblige, the paralysis gripped him tight for the moment. "Ohhhh boy..."

"Now, Thundershock!"
It was now or never, Aden figured. He had to try and make this count, and Mareep obliged by letting off the strengthened attack Riolu's way.

While it by no means was out, continuing the attack was seemingly impossible at this point. You may as well deemed Riolu was done for this fight. "Alright Riolu, you tried. Call it a day, alright? Nice work. Return." I said, recalling Riolu. "Well Aden, I have to hand it to you, you've improved to say the least. Now let's see you handle the next one. Golduck, get going!" I called out, tossing out the second Pokemon I had for battle.

To think otherwise would be suicidal. So was keeping something out that was pretty weakened too. "Mareep, you return too. I don't think you're going to be taking much more as you are."
Recalling her to let her recover, he withdrew a second ball. Geodude was out of the question, but he knew something that'd be just fine. "Nidoran, you're up!"
Little did he know that, as Nidoran came out to meet Golduck, he was probably just as ill suited as Geodude would've been.

Part of me wondered if I should have sent something that would had coaxed Aden to pull out Geodude. Then again, he is also getting to be dependant on Nidoran quite a bit. For that matter, he may need Nidoran here in the gym battle to come. I remembered that he had Nidoran learn Shockwave for that matter, though I was left to wonder if he remembered something about Golduck. First thing's first, however. "Golduck! Screech!" I shouted. "Gol...DUUUCK!" The Golduck shrilled, unleashing a ear-splitting screech towards the Nidoran.

Aden and Nidoran both found theirselves trying to deter the screeching, and learned that being in close quarters wasn't going to be so easy at first. "Wasted no time... was hoping not to resort to this so fast. Nidoran, try to shut Golduck up a bit! Shock Wave!"
Though Nidoran found it hard to concentrate, the screeching was enough of coaxing to get him to build up and let off a jolt speeding for Golduck.

There was going to be no dodging that one by any means. Golduck got zapped hard from the Shockwave attack, which I expected sooner or later. Unfortunately, Aden would soon find out I too had a trick or two on my own. "Golduck! Zen Headbutt!" I shouted. Golduck shook off the jolt, though it was a bit hard to do, but as soon as he came around, he rushed for the Nidoran, focusing a grand amount of Celestial chi upon the top of his head, going on a collision course with the Nidoran.

Wake up call in three... two... one...
"Nido!" And Nidoran found himself being hit before he knew it, the chi throwing him for more of a loop than the impact itself. He stumbled and skidded a bit upon landing, obviously hurt, but nothing too bad yet.
It still served as a threat to Aden, though. One that told him he was going to have to think a bit. "Guess we both have an edge here... Nidoran, shake it off and strike back! Fury Attack!"
Not wanting to give up so easily, Nidoran managed to get himself back together and rushed at Golduck. Being in a slight frenzy, he tried to land a hit on him.

The Golduck leaped out of the way of the Nidoran then once again unleashed a full on charge, this time with a speedy water attack.

Nidoran was going for another strike as the Aqua Jet hit its mark. But even if Aden could've gotten him to stop, it was too speedy to react in time. He could see the Pokemon struggling a bit, trying to get up. Though the feat was accomplished, it wasn't without raising concerns.
He needed to buy a few seconds. If Nidoran was going to have to take a dive, the least he could do was give Mareep a little more time to recover. "Gotta take a chance... Nidoran, now! Flatter!" It was a bit of a crazy scheme, but he's done crazier lately.
Though, Nidoran's flattery amounted to complimenting on the execution of Golduck's attack, and despite this, he'd still sooner show him where he'd like to put that horn of his.

"If you honestly think I am going to allow you to put my last Pokemon in a bind like you did Riolu again so easily, you got another thing coming! Golduck! Magic Coat!" I shouted. Golduck veered his eyes away and raised up its Magic Coat. Riolu wasn't the only one I taught a trick or two to.

Nidoran is probably going to not be confused whenever he comes back out. Bad news for Aden. He sent back out a already exhausted Mareep. As the Thundershock went off, Golduck cried out and staggered back. "Golduck! Take that Mareep out! Confusion!" I shouted. "Golllllduck!" It shouted, unleashing the mental shock towards the Mareep.

This would be the point where Aden started to realize what he had done. In trying to keep Nidoran safe and remain on the assault, he had effectively sent Mareep for little more than taking a hit. Silently recalling her, he didn't feel too good about what he had done.
"Sorry, Mareep... Nidoran, let's finish this! Focus Energy!" Letting Nidoran back out, he had him get ready.
