Generally when somone makes parallels in their work, they do it by accident. Kishimoto likes Dragonball Z, so it's not surprising that his story would be similar.

meh...all I see in Naruto that looks like DB is that Naruto looks like Gokou and Sasuke like Vegita (yes, vague similarities, but still).

...The fight sequences are very similar, as is the aspect of the story where everyone has to keep getting stronger and stronger until we question why the sannin are so supposedly famous.

Just on the topic that you guys were talking about Kishi and DBZ, if I recall correctly I remember (I think Shonen Jump) intervewing Kishi and him tlaking about how he REALLY likes the dragonball series and how it has influenced Naruto. Though how it influenced it, if he even said, I dont remember.

It's all true. It's influenced it A LOT through humor, "coincidences", irony, and the general feel of the manga. Most people haven't read the Dragonball manga, so that's why they can't see it. It's very similar in those respects as far as I can tell...
