The gate shut. Monsters were still loose, but their numbers would not increase for awhile yet.

Inside his body, surrounded by his heart, a red Materia stopped glowing.

"Thank whatever god there is. " she sat back and sighed. "can you hear me?" She asked, trying to see if he could.

He didn't move, aside from shallow breathing. However, he was an enemy; if they were smart, they'd make precautions for when he woke up...

As his eyes started to open, his vision was blurry. All he could see was white light and the outline of a woman. "Mother? Is that you?"

"Guess again, wannabe. " She smiled warmly. "Welcome back." She giggled slightly, at the look on his face.
