Looks like I get ot go pick up the 1911 today, after I go to the dentist.
Who knew that WHEATIES, of all things, could break a tooth?

I got it back! It's good as new. Now, I just need the time to take it out to the range! I think I'll show my grandfather first, he might be a bit fond of it, because it's a 1911 (what he was issued)

This has had to have been the SMOOTHEST shooting pistol I've ever used. FAR more accurate than I am, and it leaves big holes.

Damn, I need to slow down here!
I just dropped $65 on a Hungarian FEG PA-63, not too much more left to go. I will hopefully get it tomorrow. It's actually mom's, as an intermediary until the dealer can get more XD6-SCs in, but I'm paying a good chunk of it out of kindness. It needs a GOOD cleaning, though, because it's unfired, factory new. It's still got all the factory cosmoline, making the DA trigger pull damn near 15 pounds!

Got the PA 63. Not mine, it's Mom's. After reevaluation, the DA trigger pull is about 50 or so pounds. IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL with the pad of the finger, and still damn near impossible to pull at the knuckle or further back. SA is about 4 pounds, tops. Good ergonomics, and points naturally. My finger is still sore from trying that damn DA trigger. It's easiest to use the finger on the opposite hand to assist.
And she's tried it. Coudln't pull it either. STILL wants to keep it with the hammer down and safety off. Hell, it's bad enough I might as well just hand it to the robber. "Here, play with this while I go get my bigger gun." He'll give up and run off.

Yeah, my mother bought some copy of a S&W Model 59 or some such thing, Hungarian make.
DA trigger pull is extremely hard, single action it's pretty nice. Very short grip on that thing.

I don't mind the grip on the PA-63, it's actually pretty comfortable. I don't like the thumb rest when trying to use a two-handed grip or left-handed grip.
I'm figuring out how much it would be to order a pack of hammer springs (the three different reduced weights), and an increased recoil spring. It's a bit over $16 before shipping, but Wolff doesn't show the shipping until after you've put in all the info.
EDIT: Ordered 'em. $22, had just enough. Only USPS Priority shipping, though. UPS has a fuel surcharge now, and not like they aren't five times as expensive regardless.

Fuel surcharge? wtf? I could see something like that earlier on when gas was almost $5 a gallon but now still?
... did they like the extra money they made or something?

Perhaps send a present with a card through FedEx, UPS or DHL? I heard some good things about USPS about how they handle packages. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I got the spring kit, AND the power adapter today.
Spring kit works perfectly. Mom's as weak as ever and can't rack the slide, though. I'll take the old spring with me when I test it, to compare full function with it, since she can rack it, if with a little trouble (and it's a two pound difference...), and see if there is a MAJOR improvement with the enhanced spring or not. Either way, it sits with a round in the chamber, full mag, and the hammer down, with it's now 9# DA trigger pull. Which I DID do a rudimentary "1911" hammer-power test. I put a pencil down the barrel eraser first, and launched it. 5 feet, so it SHOULD work. WOn't know until I get the chance to go out ot my grandparents to try it.
