There was a time when I wanted to ranch sheep.

Preferably in rural England.

I think it was about the time that I was reading The Elves of Lilly Hill Farm by Penny Kelly.

Did you know that it's illegal for a foreigner to own land in England?

So much for that idea.^_^'

But I've always been fascinated by those sheep-herding dogs.  

[WebenBanu]

I don't think I'd want to go into large animal medicine, though.  

[WebenBanu]

Even just lifting the dogs, after a while, hurts my back.  

[WebenBanu]

Fortunately the Great Danes are big enough to climb up on the exam table themselves, most of the time.

At my last hospital, we had a Great Dane who'd come in regularly for nail trims- that was always a challenge.^_^

He was a great dog- but you hardly ever meet one who'll just hold out a paw and let you trim.  

[WebenBanu]

We'd have two people laying on top of this dog while the third trims.  

[WebenBanu]

It wasn't enough.  

[WebenBanu]

He'd just stand up, dragging the two of us where ever. The table had a faucet, too, and it was activated by one of those levers- not the knob that turns. He'd flip that lever up on his way and bump the faucet over the edge of the table and drag us through the spray.
