The edges of the clearing didn't seem to reveal any small hidden cub within - which Maua had somewhat expected, surely other had come and trampled through this area well before now and any cubs that might have been here would have been found or fled for sure.

She nearly neglected looking within the log for the same reason, it seemed just..too obvious, but on a whim she sauntered over to take a peek inside anyways. One couldn't be too careful when lookinf for such things right? And really what did she have to loose? Not much more then her time in the long run and Raziela still seemed to be thinking over where they should go next. Maua didn't mind the wait - her streambed idea hand't panned out so well so she was willing to let her daughter think up the next one.

Hinekrir sat the little drity cub down having reched the outskirts of the forest there was a number of lions all over the place. Some waitign for love ones to come back out of the mysterious forest others who had found cubs. "Are you doing alright little one?" Hinekiri ask as she licked the top of the green cubs head. She wasn't going to be able to clean the whole club off in the traditional way she would have to take her to bathe her in water after everything settled down.

The young cub looked around she was confused, tired and hungry. She hadn't done anything wrong yet she had ended up in the forest with no adults around. She had been lucky that she had a friend to hide with. She had known there as quite a few other cubs who had also been left in forest she wondered if all the cubs would be found, even she didn't know how many of them all together there was.

"I'm okay?" she answered it was more of a question then statement but it was all that she could manage right now

Hinekiri pulled the young green cub into her, she was sitting up and the cub fit nicely between her back paws against her stomach. "Here stay warm. Hopefully we wont have to stay long. I just have to see the outcome and let a few of the others know that I am safe." she told the little one smiling down at her. "Don't worry though you are going to stay with me the whole time you don't need to be alone ever again."

"Well...I suppose we could walk you out of the forest. We may be new, but we've already spent some time in here." Kunstig decided, glancing at his sister for confirmation. It would not do to lose one of the adults in these woods. Especially not one who had adopted a little one already. Or been adopted by her. Either way.

He smiled faintly at Parisette, then nudged his sister affectionately on a whim. Moilik he loved. Family was treasured and seeing another little one adopted into a family that would, in theory, love her... it was nice.

"Shall we go miss...I don't think we ever traded names," the runty lion realized suddenly. "I'm Kunstig. This is my sister Moilik. And you are...?"

"Slow down," Hamu suggested when Kayode turned to look back at him. "There's no rush if no one is hurt. Is someone hurt?" There was that possibility, but Kayode hadn't seemed to be more than hungry when he had run in to them. Subira's offering of berries would probably help a bit, but the cub would need meat before too long. Perhaps it would be best to get him back to the pride; the king wouldn't thank them if something befell the cub while he was in their care.

"Did you want to head back?" He offered to Subira, keeping his voice low so that Kayode wouldn't eavesdrop on them.

Gali inclined her head once before she cast a look around for her mother. Wherever she and Raziela had gone, Gali couldn't see them.

"All good points. I imagine that when the last of the cubs has been found we will be told anyway." She calmly settled down beside him and turned an interested gaze to him. "I've never spent more than a few days outside of the pride." She knew the stuggles a lion could face in the rogue lands. Nyota had her mate to help her, but not everyone had that option. Gali met his eyes curiously. "You're a more social creature than many rogues." He'd engaged Maua and Gali in conversation, after all. Also, it hadn't just been a coincidence that he was coming to their pride.

Subira thought for a moment before looking around at the other lions. Maybe they would be okay? Besides, something told her that Kayode would either get lost or get them lost if she let him run wild. With a nod of her head, Subira agreed. Putting down the branch of berries, Subira called to the cub, "Come back little one. We need to get you some food and rest."

Kayode wasn't far ahead of them but when he heard them calling him, he turned and trotted back. It was true that his stomach was giving him the worst pains. "Okay." Spying the branch, the cub started to snack on the berries with great enthusiasm as Subira started walking again.

As they spoke, a small cub wormed his way over, keeping himself as flat against the dirt as possible until he was just behind Gali. Without making a sound, he perched himself in her shadow, waiting silently for her to notice him. All this conversing made him feel like these weren't bad creatures and, even though they didn't look like him, he wanted to give them a chance.

Jioni hurried across the lands, his paws leading him confidently through some of the more treacherous places. He knew the land well, but he wasn't exactly sure what he was looking for. Obviously he was seeking out the lost cubs, but what would he do then? He wasn't used to cubs or any young creatures, other than those among the groundlings and they tended to have families to take care of them.

Well, he would worry about that later. Now, he was trying to find some cubs.

He felt a little ridiculous as he called out to the empty trees, but maybe someone would answer.

"Hello! Is anyone there? Don't be scared, little ones. We're here to help."

There was no answer.

With a prayer to the Goddess of the Lost, Jioni continued his search.

There was nothing in the log so far as she could see- which didn't particularly surprise Maua, she could only imagine how many other lions might have already stuck their heads in to the opening to see. Sighing slighty she pulled her head back and padded away from the disappointing piece of wood.

A glimmer though the trees caught her eye and quite without really thinking about it Maua altered her path to check it out, pushing through the tress in order to investigate that enticing sparkle. The sparkle turned out to be a rock -a couple of rocks really all balanced precariously together in a somewhat interesting fashion. Maua had seen other glittery rocks before, the sun hat to hit them just right and when you got up nice and close you could pick out the little specks within the rocks that were responsible for the glitter. It was rather beautiful really and she padded around the odd configuration head tipped up to admire the natural wonder.

"Yes I'm sure they will. I doubt the King would allow his pride to continue to search the forest once they have all been found." Especially since the forest was deemed a dangerous place. Kamau let out a chuckle. "Well not all rogues are anti-social beasts, I have always enjoyed conversing with others." Kamau continued to look out across the stream at the trees on the opposite bank, quite oblivious to the little cub that had walked up behind Gali at the moment.

"I also like to interact with other members of the pride. I'm not as distant from others as my sister is. She has her own good points, though." She felt like she was being watched, and it took all she had in her not to tense in case it was Kijembe again. He made her uneasy, or at least wary.

Not wanting to alarm Kamau, Gali turned her head slowly, until she had a clear view of who was behind her. It didn't take a genius to see the cub wasn't a lion, but it took Gali a moment to recognize the cub for a leopard. He was so quiet and so much smaller than most of the lion cubs she had seen. Had the king known there were more than just lions out here?

Her eyes skimmed his black-rimmed ears and a small smile came to her face. She didn't want to scare the cub, so she just flicked her tail so it landed near his paws and watched his eyes immediately become riveted to it. All cubs loved that trick.

"You look lost. Do you want my help?"

She bobbed her tail back and forth a few times, and she watched his eyes dart from the moving tail to her face, clearly unsure where his attention should be. Gali let her tail lie still to make his decision easier. Hopefully, that wouldn't mean her tail was sacrificed.

"I'm Gali." Her eyes flicked to the larger male. He'd been good so far about following the right instincts, so Gali could hope this time would not be any different. "This is Kamau." She flicked her tail again so it passed over his paws and saw him go for it with full claws. She quickly jerked it out of the way. The leopard tensed with the desire to chase it before he exerted control over himself. Gali smiled at his reaction and turned further, laying out so she could bring herself down to the cub's level. She flicked an ear at the cub with their eyes locked-- hesitantly on his end-- and watched him instinctively flick in ear in mimicry. The abrupt widening of her smile made the leopard uncurl slightly from his tense stance.

"What's your name?"

"Etana." The cub tilted his head. She seemed nice, especially now that her tail wasn't distracting him. "I lost everyone else when they got in to the forest. I tried to follow when the older ones started running, but I couldn't keep up."

It was no wonder. To him, the ferns might as well have been trees. He fit cleanly under most of them. After he had seen the bigger cubs careen off in to the forest for protection, Etana had easily gotten lost among the maze of plants and become separated from the other small cubs. The two chatting lions were an oasis in the chaos of the forest. Etana had been lurking by the stream when they had gone by the first time, but they seemed a lot scarier towering above him. He'd almost gone out to them when Gali had laid down by the stream, but then there had been a shout and the two of them had gone running off. This time they had stayed put, and that was what encouraged him to creep out of the dense foliage he'd been hiding under and approach Gali.

((Thank you, Caj! He's very cute. He'll be a good, quiet little cub for Gali to raise.))

Kamau had meant to say something else, but when he glanced over at Gali he noticed that her attention was turned to something behind her. Instantly he thought about that strange lion that had been staring at her earlier, and his head swiveled around. Though instead of that lion his eyes caught a hint of brown near the ground and heard Gali ask if the creature wanted her help. As he lowered his gaze Kamau looked upon the leopard cub. Slowly Kamau turned around, careful to not frighten the leopard with his large frame and laid down much like Gali had done. He allowed her to introduce him to the cub as he seemed to have his attentions fully on her for the moment.

A smile crossed his maw as he watched the two play, Gali flicking her tail and the cub nearly going after it. When the cub finally spoke Kamau's smile grew a bit wider, it was good to see him opening up to them. "It is good that we found you Etana." His eyes flicked over to Gali. "We should take him to safety soon, let the others know he has been found." And then he returned his attention to Etana with a smile. "Are you hungry?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:38 am

"Yes!" Etana didn't know how long he had been in the forest. At least a day, definitely. "We didn't eat before we came in here, whenever that was."

Gali looked over at Kamau. "I think we can manage a meal after we see the king," she agreed. Her gaze returned to Etana. "I don't think you have to worry about being safe here. The pride takes care of all its members, and that means you too.

"Are you ready to go and see if your friends have been found?"

He stood and stumbled back as Gali rose, but there was enough trust in his face to show he wasn't about to run back in to the forest. He waited for her to emit a soft order of "come" and move past him before he trotted to follow, casting several glances back at Kamau to see if the male was following her too.

One cub remained lost. A male, older than the others, with a clearly rough past. He didn't approached those looking for them, sitting himself down on a rock in the middle of a very small clearing. He would see how came to see him, and if any could be trusted.

((Just post spotting him if you want him, and I'll post who he decides on. xD ))

Maua had nearly decided that he would simply have to make do with the cub Kivuli had found when a flash of brown caught her eye, pausing for a few moments she gave the cub a warm look before sitting down, she could see what she though to be scars on the creatures hide and even if he wasn't purple..he was still a baby and even lesser babies deserved better treatment then that.

Maua might think less of a non-purple cub but she certainly wouldn't abuse one. "It is going to become hot up on that rock before long" She mentioned in a quiet voice "But I can take you to the stream for a drink..."

Parisette groomed the cub next to her, who was leaning close and seemingly quite afraid of all of the movements of the forest around her, though the cub continued to watch Kunstig with a curious expression upon her face. “Really? That is very sweet of you,” Parisette said, surprised when he offered to walk them out. She was quite honestly afraid of getting lost, and that seemed to happen often in the forest. What use would she be if she saved the cub and then got the both of them lost. “Thank you,” she said, smiling warmly at the pair of them, before gently nudging the cub to a stand, and to follow her.

Her ears twitched down in embarrassment as she realised they hadn't traded names. “Oh, I'm sorry! A pleasure to meet you, Kunstig,” she bowed her head to them, respectfully in a greeting, before doing the same to Moilik, “and you too Moilik!”

She raised her head and motioned to herself. “I am Parisette, and I'm afraid I cannot introduce the little one until she gives me her name.” Glancing a the cub, and receiving only a wide eyed stare in return, she feared she would not get a response for a while. “But first, let's get out of this forest,” she said with a firm nod, and began to walk back the way she had come, confident that Moilik and Kunstig would steer her back if she was travelling the wrong way.

While walking, she too had spotted the elder male lost cub, but had not approached him. Instead, she peered at him from a distant, silent in watch to see what he was doing. The young green lioness at her side watched him too, with an equally curious expression. He was an older male, but he seemed to be both scarred and scared. How terrible, Parisette thought inwardly. She hoped he found someone who would take him in.
