old Green Day = not that bad
recent Green Day = total suck.
It's kinda like Gerard Way going on about how My Chemical Romance isn't Emo and all Emo bands suck a**. Incredibly cliche.

Old punk is more raw and energetic.
New punk... for the most part... just. sucks. :[ Not to mention the fact that the "in" type of voices for the genre are starting to get annoying.

i've never even listened to an MCR song, honestly.
so, i can't say that they're bad. the reason i've never heard one, though, is because i try to stay away from them. not because of the emo or the eyeliner or whatever, but because their fanbase is so cliche.

-Isel- John Lydon goes on to say about Green Day, "So there we are fending off all that and it pisses me off that years later a wank outfit like Green Day hop in and nick all that and attach it to themselves. They didn't earn their wings to do that and if they were true punk they wouldn't look anything like they do." Isn't he in a fuggin reality show?

For some odd reason, I'm thinking of the one single time I watched that Reality TV show on VH1 where the house was filled was actors/musicians/etc trying to jumpstart their careers by being on the show. It was a day where they had sushi for a meal....that was carefully arranged on a girl's naked body. The rest of them were freaking...but the rockstar in the group just picked up his chopsticks and plucked the sushi right off her like this was something of the ordinary. I found it amusing.
Then I changed the channel.
