Bitter. Barafu hates the world for making him weak, and then ripping him from his family and throwing him into the harsh wilderness, alone as a child. He avoids other predators like the plague and whenever he speaks, it's in short, few-word sentences, generally snapped in annoyance.
However, there are some cases where he speaks more, mostly when ranting, though he can have a very cruel sense of humor at times.
He is extremely intelligent and could be a superb tactician, as his father before him, if he so chose.

After being introduced to the usage of pelts by his mate, Shai, he became curious over it. After a little while he wondered how else they could use the pelts instead of just to cover their cave's floor. One evening, he killed a jackal and admired the quality of the pelt. With a bit of work, he fashioned it into something he could wear.
