"Please take a seat, Vence, i'llbe sure to pass you on my teaching notes for this class at the end so that you can catch up." Inana said.
When Faust asked his question she smiled and nodded. "Good question. well, for the most part they reside in secrecy, that is to say that they live in remote areas. One must remember that until recently vampire society was very private - they operate, as it were, like a whole different world. they had their own laws, customs, beliefs. Only after the vampiric war with the humans have we experienced any integration." she turned and wlaked over to a map of Gaia pinned upto a notoice board and began to point at various areas in it. "For the most part the vampiric houses are not seperated by too much distance, and there is genrally one on teh outsirts of each major city. Most reside in the forests and mountains. The Von Helsons, for example, genrally lived around Gambino. But like I siad, they are a private people and tend to avoid any places highly populated with humans. But, naturally, being close to a human population of some sort is essential for their survival sinc ethey need them to feed from."

Lamia looked over at the new guy, knowing how awkward he was probably feeling. When she turned her attention back to Inana she tentatively raised a hand. Inana looked at her and raised an eyebrow, a slight hint of alarm hidden under the veil of being a normal teacher. She had disliked talking much about vampires in front of Lamia, and had rather hope dthat lamia woudl ignore the lesson.
"um...miss?" Lamia asked a little nervously, knowing she was touching at taboo by discussing vampires around her mum "What happens to a vampire if it stops drinking blood? And if it sires someone?" As a 3/4 vampire Lamia had occasionally drunk blood all her life, often only once every couple of months, and always froma vial or glass. Inana gave an entirley false smile. "Well that's hardly historical, is it?" "I just wondered why they were so near the cities. so what happens?" inana took a deep breath and then sat on her desk, giving in to Lamia with a small note fo pride. she was glad that her daughter was so like her when it came to personality. always questioning, rarely intimidated by rules. Didn't make her life any easier, though.
"Well...a vampire's immortality is bound to the consumption of blood. If a vampire goes without blood for too long then the process of immortality is hindered. The vampire begins to age. This is usually quite dramatic because it attacks the internal organs first, withering them away with time. That is why often a starved vampire is dead before any outward signs of age appear, sicne the internal organs have been obliterated before the flesh catches up. Attempts for a vampire to lomit their blood intake are followed by bad symptoms for this reason - chronic stomach ache, weakness, shaking..you name it. Animal blood is a temporary substitute, but a vampire who survives on animal blood will age more or less like a normal human. Therefore it is essential for any upstanding vampires ot be near a human source of sustinence." She flicked her tail. "And human contact is essential for the continuation of the bloodline. a generation of very odl vampires grows stale and politically conservative. so new members are required to keep it vibrant and powerful. thus vampires will often sire a human to join the ranks. Also vampire reproduction is a notoriously difficult affair, and the easiest results are achieved when they use a mortal or part-vampire female. Often a vampire house will impregnante a mortal female first, wait for that half vampire chidl to grow up, and only then decide to bring the halfling into it's ranks. Halflings have more prestiege than full mortals-the idea of a full mortal being brought into a vampire house is unthinkable."
she felt liek she had siad too much, and it certianly stirred memories she wish she had long forgotten, but Inana felt that honesty was essential with the young adults. "Does that answer your question."
"uh..y'yes m'am. thanks."
