Psycho Lee A while back, I saw an article about people who grope mascots at amusement parks and other places. The writer of the article assumed these people must be furries. I wrote a letter to her, acting as a non-representative of furries. I mentioned that furries are people who like anthromorphic characters and sometimes dress up as them. I also said that people who grope people in costume do not represent the furry fandom, and aren't furries, they're perverts and people who don't know boundaries, like sex offenders. She replied and said that she had retracted her article with another one and apologized about her misunderstanding of the furry fandom after several furries had written angry letters to her (probably about fursecution and crap). The point is, rather than scream predjudice and go on a stupid rant, I acted maturely and gave her an intellectual response, and pretended to be non-furry but just an observer of furry culture. It works wonders. Congratulations, I have extreme respect for you now. Thank you for being a mature person and handling the situation correctly. One responsible furry makes me a happy fur.

You do realize that several of those "cartoons" the Dutch newspaper was accused of publishing were actually created by anti-Western muslims extremists who wanted to stir up hatred, such as a photo of a man with a pig mask on relabeled as being a photo of Mohammad.

You've accomplished nothing to be proud of other than liking anthropomorphic animals. who says there is no pride in self expression? if you truely do then i laugh. thats not even the point though. the point is that furry fandom is a culture all of its own.. perhapse not quite as immense as with cultures of gypsies, or arabs or americans. but it is a culture none the less. Why then, should one not be proud of that, why can one not be proud of the culture in which they exist? If anything being a furry should warrant more legitimacy to cultural pride than being an irishman. furryfandom is something chosen, something one is unofficially self-inducted into. I am proud of my furryness not because i am proud of the fact i like anthropomophic animals. but because i have a culture that i belong to, due to my likeing of anthro animals. if we, as furries, had no pride in our culture would we have forums, art, our own vocabulary, or conventions? we do have these things, because we are proud of our selves. proud of our comradare as fellow furs. do not tell me it does not exist. pride exists in any group of people with similarity.
