"Let's try a different tactic this time around. Try using Calm Mind, Ralts," I said.
Keiko had a different idea. "Try using Shock Wave again, Deadra!" she replied, apparently going with what works.
Electric-type energy once again flooded the arena, and once again was unsuccessful in striking the real Ralts, who had teleported to a random spot in the clone horde, focusing his mind. After a few moments of this, he finds that he's able to tap into his psychic power and improve his special strength, as well as shore up his mental defenses.

"Good job. Now, go on the offensive with Magical Leaf," I ordered Ralts. He obeyed, generating two Grass-type energy leaves and lunging at Daedra, using them as weapons to strike at Deadra multiple times.
"Use his proximity to your advantage! Body slam!" Keiko shouted, getting excited already. Daedra leapt up, dodging one of Ralts's swings, and lunged downward at him. Ralts, in a last minute effort, decided to use Deadra's inertia against her and stabbed upward at her, scoring a critical hit. He didn't avoid getting hit by her attack, however.

"Hang on. Stop the fight for a sec," Keiko spoke up, which caught me off guard. I looked down at Ralts and saw what she meant. Ralts had been paralyzed by that attack.
Keiko let Audrey out of her ball, and the small pink Pokemon cheered at her. "Can you use Heal Bell on Ralts, Audrey?" Keiko asked. I thought it was nice of her to do this for Ralts at first, then I remembered that this was training. Training while paralyzed wouldn't do Ralts any good.
"Thanks, Audrey," Keiko said when Ralts was back on his feet. "You can stay out of your ball and watch if you want."
Audrey cheered again and stood against a wall beside Rala, who I didn't realize was here until just then. Keiko didn't give me a chance to react to that, though. "Alright! Dragon Breath the rest of those clones, Deadra!" she shouted.
I smirked, watching Ralts teleport out of the way of Dragon Breath. "Give her a blast of your Psychic, Ralts," I said calmly. Ralts lifted an arm up, his hand over his head, and summoned a large amount of Psychic-type energy, coalescing into an orb above him. When the orb was larger than he was, he flung it at Deadra, not giving the dragon much of a chance to dodge.

'Thanks for helping Ralts like that," I said to Keiko with a smile. "Don't think I'll take it easy on you in return, though."
"I'd be mad if you did," Keiko smirked, winking at me before focusing back on the fight. "Alright! Give Dragon Pulse a try, Deadra! Give it all you've got!"
Time to try a different energy type, Ralts. Try using Shadow Ball,' I responded, not giving up my calm facade despite how brightly my trainer's blood was burning.
It took a minute, but Ralts soon had a Shadow Ball roughly two-thirds his height in circumference. Deadra attacked first, her Dragon Pulse racing toward Ralts, though he managed to fire his Shadow Ball in time, the two moves deflecting each other. After a moment of grinding against each other, the two moves exploded, leaving neither Pokemon damaged.
I started issuing another command, but it wasn't until now that I noticed that Ralts and Deadra were starting to get worn down. They have been putting out some impressively strong moves, and took a good deal of damage - Ralts tanking Deandra's Body Slam while taking a critical Magical Leaf for her trouble.
"I think they've had it for now," I said just as Keiko was starting to speak. "They've been putting out a lot of energy today."
Keiko looked down at the two pokemon, and after a minute, nodded. "Yeah, this is as far as we need to go for a training session. Meet me in the lobby?"
"Sure," I smiled, recalling Ralts and walking out of the room with Rala beside me.

With some free time to myself, I snuck into the Super Training Room. I didn't want to make a big deal of it after all that Keiko and I had been through. Once I had the room set up, I let Brunor out of his ball and handed him the Lucky Egg Keiko and I made together. "I"m only letting you borrow this for now," I explained. "Keiko and I made this together, so we're sharing it among all of our Pokemon that can still evolve."
"You and Mistress got back together?" Rala asked, teleporting into the room. I looked at her and nodded, knowing I'd have to tell her eventually. When she sensed how numb I'd gotten after Keiko left, Rala hadn't stopped worrying about me, so it was a good idea to set the record straight for her sake.
"Alright, let's get you Kirlia. I got another item for you once you evolve," I said to Brunor, showing him the Dawn Stone I obtained recently - another gift from Sub.
Brunor couldn't hold back his enthusiasm. He was ready to train.

Sub would enter the Super Training Room shortly after Terashi, three different Pokemon with him; Bohdan floating beside him, Hop-Frog the Froakie hopping up behind him, and Hemlock planted in its pot as Sub carries it with him. "Yo, Terashi, Keiko. Fancy seeing you both here." He said with a smile. "Who am I kidding? I knew I would find one of you here, why do you think I got these guys with me?

I smirked when I saw Sub enter. Indeed, it was obvious what he wanted from the start. It had been a bit since I'd fought Sub, and I intended to repay the 'kindness' he'd shown me last time.. though that wouldn't happen right away, considering Brunor still needed training.
"Hope you don't mind," I said, not dropping my smirk despite my thoughts. "Brunor, here, is close to evolving. I'll swap him out when he's done and let somebody who can give you a real challenge take a shot at your team."
I took a step back from Brunor, watching to see which Pokemon Sub would let step forward first.

Sub would look down at Brunor and nod to himself, motioning for his Koffing to come forward and for his Froakie to step back, the man still holding the pot containing Hemlock. "This should be a fair match up, both vulnerable to each other." He commented, alluding to Koffing's Poison type which Ralts was weak to as well as the opposite; the Psychic type being powerful against the Poison. This would be a quick bout. "Let's delay no longer, Bohdan, use Toxic Spikes." He ordered, the Koffing laughing cheerfully as it squeezed its body into a compact shape before expanding back to its normal size, sending poisonous spikes all over the field. This wasn't for Brunor, but for its allies. (1 Total Evo Point earned.)

That was kind of a d**k move. Sub knew I was swapping Brunor out. Guess I shouldn't have said that. But then, given where we were, I wasn't taking this as seriously as I probably should have been.
"Fine. You want to go all out, I'm okay with that." I shrugged. "Just know that this Ralts had the potential to beat down a Pokemon trained by a Gym Leader when he was freshly hatched. Brunor, start us out with Imprison!"
Brunor focused on Bohdan, covering him in Psychic energy. This wouldn't stop Bohdan much, but at the very least, it would prevent Toxic and Memento, if Bohdan even knew the latter.

Sub pouted as the strange energy surrounded Bohdan, sealing up some of the Koffing's moves. This kind of ruined some of his fun but alas he had plenty of other tricks to pull out. "Oh poo, you're such a party pooper. There goes my next scheme." He said, folding his arms and huffing, exaggerating his pretend discontent. "Man, looks like we have to go with plan B instead, Bohdan." He said to the Koffing who was too busy rolling around in the air, laughing and smiling joyfully. "...sometimes I wonder if you're even fit for battles...oh well. Bohdan, time to step up and hit it with a Sludge attack! Gym hardened or not we're coming!"
The Koffing would obey the attack, still not really taking the battle seriously as it spun around lazily but with enough speed to fling from its large pores various goops of poisonous sludge all around it, most of it concentrated in the vicinity of its target; Brunor. Bohdan was trained enough for a proper Sludge Bomb but a good old fashioned Sludge should be enough to sting the Fairy type Pokemon, and some.

"The most effective way to avoid something is to prevent it from happening," I smirked, allowing myself to fall into my old habit of fighting defensively for now. "I don't think there's enough pink in this room, Brunor. Let's fix that. Misty Terrain!"
Brunor had to jump a bit to get out of the way of Sludge, but it's not easy to do while one one's knees, so Brunor ended up getting hit by Sludge anyway, taking a good amount of damage from the weak move due to his weakness to Poison. He was still plenty strong enough to push outward with Fairy-type energy, filling the Super Training Room with Misty Terrain. It was risky to pull this move out now, but I didn't want Brunor fainting before he evolved.

Sub asked Terashi, folding his arms once again for emphasis. With a scowl he looked around the room and took note of the flowing pink mist-like energy which was quickly consuming it. Disgusting. "Ugh...you just had to do this, didn't you? You did this one purpose." He insisted, shaking his head a little bit as if to clear his head. "No matter, we still got this. Bohdan, another Sludge while our friend keeps putting on shows for us." Sub ordered. With another happy and naive laugh the Koffing would spin around, almost like it was dancing, once again flinging nasty globs of Sludge. This one was a little better than the last, the globs of Sludge thicker as Bohdan seemed to be getting a better hang of it. (3 Total Evo Points earned.)

While Brunor was failing to dodge again, I thought about the next move to use. Torment came to mind, but Sub was taking it easy on my by using Sludge repeatedly. Using Torment would just give him a reason to use Sludge Bomb or something similarly powerful. Then I thought about using Will-O-Wisp, but decided against it. The next Pokemon I brought out had plenty of that to go around.
When I decided on what to do next, Brunor was on his feet. Standing up was something Ralts didn't do, but it could easily be a sign of how close he is to evolving as a sign of his strength. "Alright. Use Confuse Ray!" I ordered.
Brunor gathered Ghost-type energy in one hand, using the rest of his body to keep from falling. He had to struggle a bit from the pain of taking two super-effective hits. Once the attack was ready, he launched it at the happy-go-lucky Koffing that served as his opponent for now.

Bohdan was not prepared for the dazzling and confusing flash of light that seemed to hit him out of nowhere. The happy go lucky Pokemon was now spinning and swaying all over the place erratically as the Confuse Ray befuddled its sight and other senses, its mental awareness scrambled. The poor Koffing didn't know what was going on as this was a first for it.
"Tch, so now you get to be the one that does all the tricky underhanded things, huh?" He commented to Terashi. "Don't worry about it, Bohdan, you'll get through this. Fight through it and see if you can't show me a Sludge Bomb. It's time to step our game up a little bit." He ordered his Pokemon.
The Koffing would try his best to right himself and point himself in the right direction, fighting through the confusion the best he could as he inflated his body briefly, concentrating as much sludge as he could in his body. With one last inhalation he would attempt to spit the glob of concentrated sludge out from its mouth with as much force as it could muster, its target Brunor. If the confusion kicked in however it would not get the sludge out in time, causing it to explode inside him and hurt its self in confusion.
