                                                        ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

While she stood in line waiting, Lizzy stared around the large hall, taking in the gargoyles and the magnificent ceiling with wide eyes. She'd first seen Hogwarts during the boat ride and had been transfixed and now seeing the interior, Lizzy almost forgot about her worries. Of course, they were still there, buzzing from the back of her mind, but she could ignore them for the time being; seeing Hogwarts in person also helped ease her worries somewhat. For now, she had Gi and Drew and the castle seemed big enough that she was sure she could avoid Peter most of the time. Up ahead, Lizzy could see the hat sorting the students before her and couldn't help but smirk; so she was right, back at the clothing store. The idea of a talking hat would have been a bit ridiculous if she wasn't in a magic school at the moment so she didn't care too much about it beyond thinking that it was funny and clever.

Then her name was called, and Lizzy's mind went back for a moment, then her anxiety increased tenfold. What was it that she was glad about again? Yes, friends. Friends, big castle, less Peter, can't be that bad. All the eyes in the hall had turned to her and Lizzy tried to ignore their judgemental weight as she tried to reassure herself enough to walk up to the stool without tripping, having lost any confidence she'd previously gained. She didn't have much of a success: she stumbled and nearly tripped twice and by the time she sat down, her hands were visibly shaking. She looked everywhere but the blue-clad table where she knew her brother was glaring at her before opting to close her eyes to avoid it all instead. Please, just don't me with my brother, she pleaded mentally. Lizzy would take anything other than sharing the same house and dorm with him since it would be nearly impossible to avoid him then.

                                                                Creative:
Lizzy is very creative and enjoys drawing and sketching anything that catches her eye or imagination. She'd spent a lot of time on her own with nothing but her imagination so she's had to come up with interesting new ideas to think about or draw.

                                                                Insecure:
For almost all her life, Lizzy's been insulted and put down by her brother, being told that she was useless and worthless, and having most of her things taken and hidden, and being isolated at school. Because of all this, Lizzy has an extremely low self-esteem, to the point where she worries that she is too worthless for anyone to bother befriending her (except for her the rest of her family, but that was their duty anyway).

                                                                Meek:
Lizzy very quiet when she's around people she isn't freinds with, which is most people. She's also rather weak-willed and gives up easily as she'd rather go with the flow than be stubborn and obsitinate, then there's a smaller chance that she'd be left behind or that she'd drive them away.

                                                                Passionate:
However weak-willed Lizzy is normally, when it comes to things that she loves, like animals and drawing, she is very passionate and can spend hours on them with no problem, often forgetting about everyone and everything else.

                                                                Passive-Agressive:
Since actively going arguing with Peter only seemed to make him act worse, Lizzy's learned to avoid him whenever she can and to be passive-aggressive and snarky. Because she was usually quiet, Peter doesn't usually hear her and sometimes even misinterprets Lizzy's reaction, which is just fine by her.

                                                                Perceptive:
As an artist (as she considers herself to be), Lizzy has a good eye for detail and picks up on things that many people tend to miss. While this is a good thing, she frequently misinterpretes them, usually into something negative

                                                                Quick-Tempered:
Lizzy had always been a little temperamental, especially when she was younger, and got irritated quickly. While that hasn't really changed, she's learned to swallow her anger down and keep quiet about it, but rather than ignoring what annoys her, she stews silently.

                                                                Shy:
Lizzy is too shy to approach anyone on her own and is too scared to start a conversation. This mostly stems from her insecurity and self-esteem issues as even if she does try, Lizzy doubts that they'd want to continue tlaking to her.

Faina Patrovna-Harcroft
UnsortedFirst YearEleven Years OldSingle

With its many bright lights, a ceiling full of stars, and row upon row of black-robed students, the Great Hall was an impressive sight for the young Faina. Not lost on her was the dais where the teachers sat over the students, a not so subtle reminder of whom was in charge, and they seemed to watch the proceedings as keenly as their charges. Faina was nervous at this point, as she was about to learn where she'd be placed, and despite Rhett's statement to the contrary, she still wasn't convinced there was a place for her. Having a sentient hat making the decision was not something she'd counted on, but Faina decided it was as good as any other method, and probably more interesting for the participants than drawing lots.

When her name was called, Faina was determined not to let her misgivings show on her face, certainly not with the whole school watching her. Drawing a deep breath, mustering as much dignity and courage as an eleven year old could, she strode toward the stool where the Deputy Headmistress awaited with silent determination. She sat down and waited silently as the rim of the hat settled upon the bridge of her nose. 'A talking hat,' she mused silently. 'I'm sure there's a grand tale to be told there. Mine is a simple one: my father was a Hufflepuff, my mother was a Punainen, which makes me a cross between a Badger and a blinded griffin, I suppose. Don't know if it'll help your decision, but there it is. More than anything, I don't wish to be all alone, but I will understand if you cannot find a place for me here.'

Personality:

■ Secretive: Faina doesn’t like giving up any kind of personal information to anyone, especially to those she doesn’t know or trust, not even to venture an opinion or express a like or dislike. Better to stay silent, and let others assume what they will, than open one's mouth and erase all doubts. Unfortunately, it isn’t easy getting her to trust anyone, not early on, and she never accepts anyone at face value.
■ Loyal: Once one gets past her guard, she holds her friendships as sacrosanct. Her word, once given will not be broken; and a trust invoked will not be given up short of a Cruciatus or an Imperious. Her baby sister is the only family she truly has now, and Faina would willingly die to protect her.
■ Cynical: Faina would argue her attitude is one of typical Russian pessimism and practicality, but she is quite prepared to believe the worse of anyone or any given situation, and is given to comment with a sharp tongue as a result. It is better to prepare for a bad outcome and be glad if it turns out better than hope for the best and get dumped on instead. As it is, Faina finds it hard to hang onto any sort of hope that things will get better for her and her little sister.
■ Perceptive: Little gets past Faina’s notice when she’s paying attention to what’s going on around her. Small clues will be seen, and the feelings of others she will file away for future reference. Her attention to detail has aided her in her studies.
■ Hardworking: Nothing comes without a price, this Faina understands well, and shortcuts will get one burned in the end. While she is actually rather book-smart, and could get away with sluffing off, Faina works hard at her schoolwork, as she knows it’s the only way she’ll ever get anywhere in her life.
■ Brave: With her father missing, and likely dead, her mother as good as same, her father’s family doing nothing to aid her and Katya, and her mother’s folk so far away, Faina has learned to face difficulties with a façade of stolid indifference to pain and hardship. If nothing else, she has her little sister she needs to be strong for. Life is tough, be equal to it or drown, is her attitude.

Likes:

■ Favourite Food: Soup and sandwiches
■ Her collection of books
■ Nice clothes
■ Favourite class: History of Magic
■ Learning new spells

Dislikes:

■ Hates broccoli and Brussel sprouts; they’re clearly the products of sick minds.
■ Girl drama
■ Computers, doesn’t trust them
■ Being teased about her appearance
■ Loud groups

Strengths:
■ Her intelligence and ability to cope
■ Her magic

Weaknesses:

■ Difficulty trusting anyone, especially early on.
■ Her reduced sense of empathy toward others. While she may be aware of the feelings of others around her, she may not bother to take such in consideration. Things are what they are, there’s little point in crying about it.

Fears:

■ The secret about her mother will get out.
■ Being truly alone in the world

spaceNath had been pretty impressed by the boat ride. Not by the boats, really, but by the giant squid. As he followed along with the other first years behind Professor Harlowe, he wondered if she was some sort of giant, or if she only seemed so large because they were all so short. He'd read about giants, of course, and he knew sometimes the bred with wizards... but he didn't think half-giants looked that normal, and thought they might typically be much larger. Maybe she was diluted enough to be weirdly tall, but not enough to be impossibly so, and had skipped out on the other genetic quirks. In any case, she seemed like some sort of vaguely inhuman thing to him. But, that might just be because, at this point, he was expecting there to be more than meets the eye to everything he saw.

spaceThat didn't quite stop his skeptical side from taking over when he saw the hat, though. Seriously? The thing looked like the prop from an old fantasy flick. He watched it with faint interest, and as the sorting began, observed the handful of classmates whose names came before his in the alphabet get 'sorted'. It was a neat trick, sure, but how was it done?

spaceWhen his own name was called, he stepped forward, weirdly eager to have the hat on his own head, for a firsthand experience. He had no preference for any one house, not really knowing enough about them to make a judgement. He would like to be sorted into the same house as one of the three kids he already knew, since he would at least have the benefit of, if not a friend, then at least a friendly face. But, apparently Theo, Galen, and Gabby all had surnames that came after his, so he'd have to hope for one or more of them to follow him, rather than wondering if he was suitable for the same house they'd been sorted into.

spaceAs soon as the hat was lowered over his head, he started directing thoughts at it, questioning how it worked and what sort of magic had been used to create it. It had to read minds, he reasoned. The song it'd sang implied as much, and how else would it be deciding where they went? Did it just acquire data like a computer, and spit out a response, or did it interact with the child? He'd seen it's... lips? moving faintly, when a couple of others had sat on the stool, and some of the students had taken longer than others. Talking to them? To itself? Assessing the data it collected? Asking preferences and opinions? Or a trick of the light? No, he'd seen it, he was sure.
'You can talk, right?' he asked, waiting curiously. Of course, it was doubtful he'd get much in the way of answers, since he imagined this was supposed to be a short interaction. Perhaps he could ask the professor about the hat, and study it more later? That would be pretty cool.

Unless he's faced with some grave injustice, he's unlikely to lose his temper. He feels deeply, but keeps his emotions in check. He likes to play mediator when people argue, only because he knows that for the most part, he can keep a level head, and hopefully help calm down whoever is involved. He's not particular about much of anything, be it movies or games or food. If friends want to do something, he's usually up for it, no matter what it is. He has his own preferences, but for the most part he's just as happy to do what someone else wants to do.

xxx»» Nath prides himself on keeping a level head at all times; he likes to think about things from a logical perspective, rather than letting his emotions or biases get in the way. He's somewhat prone to playing the Devil's Advocate, not so much to change another person's mind, but to try and help them understand the other side. Rarely, if ever, is any one person absolutely in the right or wrong of any given situation, and that understanding helps him navigate through his life. He's more than willing to hear an argument against him, and will consider what is being said before making judgements. Of course, his rationality fails at times, and he's often blind to it, because from his perspective, he always considers logic before making decisions, so therefore he can't be wrong.

                                                          GEEKY
xxx»» For the most part, Nathaniel is a very quiet person. He prefers to listen in, and only speak when he has a point to make. But, once you get him on the topic of something he's interested in, his entire persona changes. He becomes exceptionally enthusiastic, and will prattle on and on about his interests. He consumes fandom content like a vacuum, delighting at arts of his favorite characters, song parodies, fan theories, you name it. He's easy to sway into liking most things, even if he plays the part of the critic at times, and once he's in, he's in for the long haul. Trends come and go, but he refuses to let go of anything he loves. He can be distracted by something new, but he will always hold onto his old interests, even if they're not at the forefront of his mind.

                                                          RESERVED
xxx»» Nath likes to keep his thoughts to himself, unless he has something he thinks needs to be said. He can come across to a stranger as being aloof, because he doesn't open up with others until he's comfortable with them. He thinks most people are generally decent enough, but that doesn't mean he's willing to run the risk of being hurt if someone has an exceptionally bad day and lashes out against him. He knows that being a good person doesn't mean you're perfect, and wants to know he can trust people and that they're like-minded before he lets them get to know him. He sometimes has difficulty in this regard, since not many people are willing to open up to someone who never shares about themselves. He's never been particularly popular as a result. For the most part, he doesn't mind, though sometimes he does get lonely.

xxx»» Nath doesn't let go of things, he doesn't waffle, he doesn't waver. Part of the benefit of holding himself back initially is that by the time he commits, he knows he can commit fully and safely without much fear of the consequences. He doesn't give his trust or loyalty without it being earned, and so he feels confident that he's made a good investment. Once he's made that investment, be it in a person, a project, an event, whatever, he's not going to back out. He believes in seeing things through to the end. Getting him to drop an obviously doomed commitment is all but impossible. He can be swayed with facts and figures, but you'd better be prepared to present them, possibly in a power point. If the issue is one of emotions, appealing to his logical side can be either helpful, or make him dig his heels in deeper, depending on how it's framed.

He was raised that your life should be about making the lives of everyone around you better (though not to your own detriment). He smiles at strangers when they seem down, he compliments people as much as he can, any little thing he can do to make another person's day even a little better. When it comes to his friends and families, he loves nothing more than turning a bad day good, except maybe making a good day better (because he'd never wish for his loved ones to have a bad day).

Of course I can talk,
Though it is pretty obvious that you have other questions about my existence,
With such an inquisitive mind,
I have no doubt you'll find the answers you seek,
I am confident that you shall be a good fit here...

spaceCeleste was not prone to anxiety, not really. She was afraid of one thing, and that was her father. He wasn't here, so there should have been no reason for her to be afraid. And yet, she could feel the fear bubbling up, skin paling slightly, eyes going wide. As she stood in the line waiting for her name to be called, she felt herself getting sick. A hand reached out to take hers, Sorin's, of course. Her brother frowned, eyes asking her what was wrong. She didn't know, she told him without words. She had no clue what was wrong. Not until her name was finally called, and she had to face her judgement.

space'Judgement,' she thought faintly, distantly. Her legs were too slow as she approached the stool. She was awaiting judgement. Awaiting her fate. Because she had no doubt that if this didn't go the way it was supposed to, she would be in a very dangerous situation. Her father already didn't care for her, and he thought she was everything she was supposed to be. If he should be proven wrong, if she were defective... She stumbled just before getting to the stool, to the hat. What if she was too much like what her brother was supposed to be? What if sitting in his lessons, doing the work so that he wouldn't have to, taking his place because he would be happier elsewhere, had undone her?

spaceCould she beg, she wondered as the hat was lowered. If she told the hat that failure was not an option, that it could have dire consequences, would it listen? Did it have morals, values, a sense of right and wrong? Could it make choices to protect the children whose fates it decided? Or would it place her where it thought she ought to go, regardless of if that fate it handed her would be her end?
'I'm not being dramatic,' she thought to it, desperate. Pleading. 'You can see that, can't you? You know I have reasons to be afraid.' She would be such a good Hufflepuff. She would! She was everything they were supposed to be! The other things about her, the things that were... less Hufflepuff-like, they weren't all-encompassing, right? 'Please, let me be safe.'

xxx»» As horrible as it sounds, Celeste was raised to serve. Her family's old-fashioned sensibilities insist that a woman's lot in life is to support the men in their lives. While she at times questions the wisdom of this, she knows that, being only a child, it's not going to do her any good to argue. She also finds that it's quite useful to be loyal to people, because it often inspires loyalty in return. She would do anything for her brother, for her mother, for anyone she deems as worthy of her attention, even to her own detriment. She's generally able to get herself out of a tight spot, so she doesn't fear the repercussions if an attempt to help someone else goes south. She would hesitate at nothing that was asked of her, so long as the right person was doing the asking.

                                                          ASTUTE
xxx»» Being raised that Children Should Be Seen And Not Heard, Celeste didn't do much in the way of talking as a small child. Instead, she did a lot of watching. She observed people, observed events, observed the world in general. While she was rather sheltered as a child and her experiences are therefore limited, she's rather quick to assess a situation from a distance. She's clever, and generally speaking has good judgement. She can make snap decisions and generally trust that her instincts and previous experiences haven't let her down. Overall, she's rather clever, though she likes to keep this to herself.

                                                          CLEVER
xxx»» She is quick to think of inventive solutions to problems. When presented with the fact that her brother was doing poorly in his lessons, and didn't like attending them anyway, she offered to attend them in his stead, using her powers to take on his appearance. She can generally think and talk her way out of trouble, feigning innocence and ignorance until whoever has caught her ushers her away with a promise not to make the same mistake twice. She is adept at figuring out just what to say or do in any given situation, solving puzzles easily and recalling the oddest of seemingly innocuous bits of information in a conversation.

                                                          TIMID
xxx»» Celeste harbors a great fear of being in trouble, at least with one person. Her father, who can generally be expected to ignore her entirely, will at times very suddenly recall her existence simply to scold her over something small. Of all the people in her life, he is the only one who is never easy on her, and the punishments for trouble-making are severe. She would argue, in her mind, that most of the time the punishment greatly outweighs the crime. As such, she is hesitant to do anything that would attract his attention. If asked by her brother, she'll misbehave, but she is always quite careful about how she goes about it. She's rather quiet and unassuming, preferring to blend into the background. She's uncomfortable with attention being focused on her, and is quite content to stand behind her much more boisterous brother and let him do the talking for her.

                                                          COMPASSIONATE
xxx»» While there are few people in the world Celeste truly cares about, she has never been known to be cruel or unkind to anyone she meets. While she was raised in a family that believes itself to be superior to others, she personally sees that their superiority is simply a cosmic gift, not something that was earned. As such, she tries not to look down on those who are inferior to her. She believes in being kind to everyone, even if they don't necessarily deserve it. To earn even an unkind word from her requires quite a feat of cruelty on the part of another, and while she may harbor anger for some, she will never let it affect her own actions towards them.

                                                          DILIGENT
xxx»» Celeste believes in the value of perseverance and hard work. Once she commits to something, she is committed to see it through, no matter the outcome. Promises are sacred to her, and no matter how much trouble she has fulfilling them, she will stop at nothing to be sure she does. Nothing short of literal impossibility can prevent her from completing a task she has set for herself, and even then, it takes quite a bit of convincing to make her give in. She doesn't believe in leaving work unfinished, and finds laziness (in anyone but her brother) to be unacceptable. While she's not one who would generally take on hard work out of choice, she believes in doing what needs to be done. If that means helping with a task that should be beneath her, so be it.

                                                          u s e r n a m e

I do believe that you could be a good choice elsewhere,
But, if you are that sure,
Better be...

spaceSorin realized too late what his sister was afraid of. He'd never considered it, but the slight trip was enough to make him realize. Of course she was afraid of the sorting. Unlike him, she had never been particularly favored by any of their elders. The eldest being female had been a tragedy to them all, and it was only by the grace of God that he'd been her twin, and not a much younger sibling. It was easy to lie, to say he was older, that he was the rightful heir in all ways. But they knew better, and it'd always showed in how Celeste was treated. His father had only wanted one child, a son, and instead he had two, and one was a girl. He couldn't be bothered with girls, or children at all really, but at least Sorin's existence was a necessity. Hers, on the other hand, inconsequential at best, a nuisance at worst. Their father almost always treated her like the latter.

spaceHe found he couldn't watch his sister's sorting. Eyes squeezed shut, he let his ears be distracted by any and everything. The inane chatter of his classmates and the roar of the older students below in the hall proper wouldn't have been enough, had he not refused to hear the hat. He almost didn't even hear his own name called moments later, and it took him a second to process that it was his turn.

spaceHe wasn't worried about his own sorting. Why should he be? If he was missorted, his family had no choice but to deal with it. He would be a disappointment, sure, but it wasn't as though his parents would go through the effort of having another child. No matter where he ended up, he was safe. He was the heir. Not getting Slytherin would be unpleasant, but he'd live. As he approached the stool, he found he couldn't look out into the crowd, to search for his sister. He was too afraid to see her in the wrong place. To furious at the thought of what might happen to her. Would she be safe in Ravenclaw? They could chalk it up to her brains, her cleverness. Say she was too smart for her own good. Perhaps that would be enough.

spaceHe was faintly aware of the hat being lowered onto his head. He didn't care what it had to say, really, though Slytherin was expected. He knew what he was like, he knew he fit the mold, more or less. Work smarter, not harder, that was his motto, that was the motto of his forefathers. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs was another popular idiom around the household. Celeste was uncomfortable with those sorts of things. Sorin saw them for the necessary unpleasantness that they were. More to the point, he didn't care about hurting anyone, as long as his sister was safe. She was all he had, and all that really mattered. His parents and grandmother only appreciated what he was, not who he was. An heir, a boy to birth more heirs, to carry on the name and the blood and the legacy. He only cared about those things for the value of what they granted him, power. Power was nice. Power provided him protection for Celeste, the ability to give her anything she wanted. It also meant that, should he desire, he would never have to lift a finger of his own to do those things... Hmph. If he didn't get sorted into Slytherin, he might be concerned for the hat's sanity.

xxx»» Sorin was groomed from birth to be somebody important. The who, specifically, never much mattered, just as long as they were someone possessing power that his name demanded. As such, he has rather high expectations for himself, at least regarding where he'll end up. He assumes that his lack of specific goals won't hinder him, as he'll discover the answer once he gets to school, and discovers which areas he is already predisposed to. Choosing a field in which he has a natural talent, he assumes, will set him ahead of the curve, and make furthering his future career that much easier.

                                                          APATHETIC
xxx»» Generally speaking, he doesn't care about much of anything. He has his goals, of course, but the how and why in attaining them aren't important to him. Similarly, save his sister, he has almost no emotional reaction to people. His family inspires little in him, except a vague curiosity. Unlike his sister, a deeply caring person, he doesn't think he'd so much as bat an eye at the news that some horrible fate had befallen their mother or grandmother. His father, meanwhile, he might manage some emotional reaction to... but it would be one of glee, since his father's death would mean he inherited control of the estate. More importantly, it would save his sister all her worrying about what the man thinks of her or will do to her. Strangers are simply tools, once he will evaluate, and makes use of if he can. If not, he has no time for them.

                                                          MANIPULATIVE
xxx»» Sorin can be quite lazy; he dislikes making an effort towards anything that hasn't drawn his specific interest, and being that those things are few and far between, he rarely wants to indulge in much of anything. As such, he's become a master of manipulating his way out of almost any situation. He often takes advantage of his sister's giving nature, even getting her to use her metamorphamagus abilities to sit in on his lessons with their father for him, so that he doesn't have to. This, he insists, is only fair, because she actually enjoys the lessons. He's also adept at faking illness or injury to get his mother and grandmother to dote on him and leave tasks they would have requested of him to the family's house-elf. Even his father isn't immune to his machinations, having a soft spot for his only son that blinds him to the fact that he's being conned.

                                                          POLITE
xxx»» Sorin was raised to be a gentleman. Offending another person is the gravest sin he could ever commit, in spite of his apathy and manipulative nature. He doesn't care much for people, but he knows how he's supposed to treat them. He's quick with a kind word, and always acts with chivalry. He can be charming when it suits him, and he finds that it often does, as his apparent courteous nature makes him rather popular. It's easier to get his way when he is well-liked, and so he aspires to be as well-liked as possible. While he does harbor beliefs that he is superior to most everyone he meets, you would never know it from talking to him; he keeps all harsh judgements between himself, and his sister.

                                                          SPOILED
xxx»» Being the heir of an exceptionally old family, Sorin was doted on. His grandmother in particular adored him, taken with his resemblance to his grandfather. In his youth, he was given everything he ever wanted. As he grew older and the older Kinsleys attempted to reign him in, he made use of his manipulative nature to keep it going. Neither his mother, nor his grandmother, can bear to see him unhappy, so they are quick to fulfill any wish he has. His father, meanwhile, believes that, as the male heir, anything he wants is his due by default. Sorin's only vestige of generosity is that he will often take advantage of this to win things for his sister, who never received the same attention.

                                                          LOYAL
xxx»» This trait is reserved for one person in the world, and one only. Sorin would do anything for his sister, would move Heaven and Earth to keep her happy. While she is more than willing to accept others into her heart, and to give them her loyalty, he has none for anyone but her. He'll feign devotion to anyone she deems worthy, as he trusts her judgement implicitly, but at the end of the day, he wouldn't lift a finger for another person if he didn't know his sister would want him to. Still, Celeste's happiness is the most important thing to him. They share everything with one another, and they alone know the truth of the other.

                                                          u s e r n a m e

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking....
Concerned for my sanity?
After you were so concerned for your sister's?
I do admit, concern for another besides yourself is admirable,
However, I do believe you shall prove to be a Kinsley through and through...

Oh wow, the ceiling! It looked like the sky, but indoors! What if it was raining would he need an umbrella? Ferdie followed the other kids his age along, but he was still looking all over the place at the same time. He watched through people to see how the sorting was going to happen. His dad refused to tell him. It seemed simple enough. Put on a hat and it would give you advice then sort you to one of the houses. He wasn't sure where he wanted to be. His dad had been a Hufflepuff, but he didn't have any pressure to be in one house or the other. He was snapped back to reality when he heard his name. "Ferdinand Delacroix" Why his formal name? He pondered as he slipped trough the crowd and up to the stool. He was a little shy now that the entire school was watching. 'Ok hat what's my house?' He thought to himself not knowing the hat could hear him.

As soon as Theo stepped into the Great Hall, he remembered he had to look up toward the ceiling. He gasped when he noticed the twinkling of the stars above. Could this school be any cooler?! He looked around, seeing all the houses in their colors at their tables... It was so fascinating! He sent a little wave toward the Gryffindor table to Aine. He watched the first few sortings, waiting patiently until his own name was called. He was so excited to figure out where he'd be! "Theodotus Ellis-Hall?" His name sounded so formal across the hall! He hurried toward the front, a bright smile adorning his face. Theo sat on the stool, silently hoping for a good house to be a part of. It would be made better if he was with his family... but he was certain he'd make friends wherever he went!

First Year Unsorted
╚════════════════════════╝

xFeeling: Excited
xLocation: Great Hall
xWith: Everyone
xStatus: Single

The Great Hall was a large room that held a lot of people in it and Diego looked around, admiring all of it. This place was like nothing he had ever seen before and everything seemed too perfect. They were formed in a line for the Sorting Ceremony and Diego waited in line patiently. When his name was called, Diego happily took his seat on the stool and let the hat be placed on his head.

╔════════════════════════╗
Out of Character: {Translation: ...}
╚════════════════════════╝

Personality
KIND Diego is nice and caring to all people and creatures he meets. He'll go above and beyond the call of duty for his friends and family. Just about everyone he meets is someone that he likes. He can befriend just about anyone.
NAIVE Naive, childish, innocent... These are perfect words that describe Diego. He's obsessed with candy and playing games. He has a bad habit of spending all of his allowance on candy.
GOOFY Always one with a quick joke or a silly gimmick, Diego tries to be the light of the day. He is silly almost to a fault. He loves to pull pranks, but not mean ones. He greatly loves word puns and silly humor. He'll laugh at just about anything... but don't tickle him because he's incredibly ticklish.
TRUSTING Or, you could say, gullible. Diego believes just about everything everyone tells him. It ties in with his naivety because he believes that everyone is good. But not only is he trusting, he's trustworthy too. He's like a safe for secrets.
CHARMING Easily put, he's likable. He's sweet, kind, caring, and above all else, he's friendly. He can talk down angry people and cheer up the sad ones. He makes friends easily and keeps them even easier.
SUAVE He's a great dancer, a smooth talker and he has great hair... all the important characteristics a suave young man needs. So far, he's used this ability to make friends, but as he has begun to mature, he's seen other uses for this natural air of debonair.

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking....
Charming and fun, eh?
You're sure to brighten people's days.
Only one place for you, I think.

U N S O R T E D ~ M U G G L E B O R N ~ H O G W A R T S

Darcy's eyes went wide as she saw the great hall, and her eyes remained that way as she walked in, she felt her hands start to shake from being nervous...and a fear of the unknown. Her stepfather had warned her that such things were normal, but Darcy still couldn't stop the buzzing that went though her head as she saw how amazing everything was.

She was so distracted she almost didn't hear her name being called "Darcy-Roisin Calderwood!" someone called out and she perked up, looking up she made her way to the front and sat down on the chair, looking up at the big, old hat, her fingers wrapping around the rim of the chair out of nervousness.

O O C

▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂

WHERE Sorting WITH Strangers OUTFIT Robe, unmarked MOOD Awestruck, Nervous

ADAPTABLE Due to her upbringing, between the farm and her family and school, as well as taking up extra chores when needed or not having enough time for one thing or another she had grown to learn how to adapt to things quickly and with very little to trip her up. She is able to think on her toes and change things such as how she divides up her time and how long she can be in one place or another.
STUBBORN Despite Darcy's stage fright she is stubborn, particularly when she is given a task. No matter what the obstacles she will overcome them. An example being that she has to present an oral report for class. Darcy will do what she has to do, such as study, make the poster, make note cards, and she will go to class and give her report in an attempt to overcome her Shyness and stage fright, however despite her stubbornness in this example she would still be shaking like a Chihuahua (it is good to keep in mind that she isn't shy, just stage fright)
GOOD Darcy is a good person, almost angelic in nature. Ever since she was a child she never given her mother any problems, and as she grew up she became a kind person toward her friends, helpful, sweet, and always willing to lend a hand.
HARD WORKING Darcy grew up on her great-uncles farm in the country with her mother and father. Doing hard work, pulling your weight, and helping around the farm was just a way of life. Every morning she would wake up at dawn and feed the pigs before heading to school where she would work hard on her studies and stay after school to clean up after the other students in order to help the teacher before she would head home and help with the remaining chores, cooking, cleaning, feeding or washing the animals before doing her homework and going to bed.
PUSHOVER Darcy has easily been coerced into things, from taking on extra chores to doing other peoples homework and in the end it has always left her feeling guilty. On several occasions it would be things that she didn't want to do, such as one time some of her friends pushed her to skip school even though she didn't want to, this has happened on several occasions.
LOYAL To her family and to the friends that she truly has Darcy is without a doubt loyal to them, willing to help them out in times of trouble and if needed take up a weapon in trembling hands and try to defend or fight with them even though she would probably just end up being useless.

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking....
There's no need to be nervous, my dear
It's overwhelming, yes, but you'll be quite alright
Stubborn and loyal suit you well, and adaptability is a marvelous trait.
Yes, I think you'll do quite well in

Rhett Fang Ye
<1st year>

Rhett nodded wondering if the creatures Faina spoke of were fiction or true creatures. They did sound a little scary or at least not benevolent. As he was calling out to alert others of the two free seats tentacles rose from the water looking to almost copy his wave. His eyes widened in awe and he waved to the Giant Squid and said, "Hi! How are you?" The squid did not answer at least verbally though as they soon were on their way across the lake.

At the boathouse they were greeted by the Deputy Headmistress, a blonde woman who seemed nice enough. Following her lead he entered the great hall and his eyes immediately went to the sky ceiling in awe before looking around the mass of students wondering where he would end up. Would he be a Gryffindor like Faina guessed for him? Or would another house welcome him?

He was impatient to know even though in many ways for him it did not matter. His family was not for or against any particular house and the first Hogwarts student was his sister. She was a Ravenclaw but she herself said she didn't know if that was the best fit for him. After what seemed an eternity (and almost all if not all the other names before him) were called, curses having a Y last name, the Headmistress called "Rhett Fang Ye."

Taking a deep breath and then grinning he headed up to the hat and sat on the stool. "Hi, I'm Rhett, Hat. So where do you think I belong?"

Personality: Rhett is an adventurous child who has inherited from both his parents a love of nature and being outdoors. However, unlike wood nymphs like his mother, Rhett is more prone to pranks and mischief than helping people. He is easily bored and hates to sit still longer than a minute or two. He does have an ear for music and rhythms and when sitting still is usually tapping along to some music in his head. He wants to see everything and isn't afraid to leave the side of people he knows and is reckless in his adventures (already he has broken an arm and lost a tooth from his disregard for safety as he explores).

Ibarra, as much as he despised Hogwarts (and his magical heritage) for being technophobic, was slightly impressed of the castle's interior. It looked like it came straight-out from some video game, and five pounds say that this school has some hidden passages. Though honestly? He found the mind-reading hat really weird, Ibarra wondered if it had some sense of privacy if it's not even Sorting Day and someone wore it.

He was one of the very early students to be called upon, and with his ridiculously short height he was fussing over the stool. Ibarra was aware of the houses, and the hat better sort him to some house that didn't compose of boring people. 'Good evening, as much as I really appreciate your mind-reading skills (I really do), that means that you really know that I don't want to be sorted to a house that will bore me to death for seven years. So please, be gentle to me and my childhood. I only live once, you know?' He politely told the hat with his mind, as the hat was carefully put down on his dark messy hair.

ADVENTUROUSIbarra doesn't define 'adventure' necessarily as 'outdoor activities'. He's down for anything awesome ranging from sports, rollercoasters, and even multiplayer videogames. He's brave to volunteer on anything that would spice up his life, might as well with company- no matter how wild the ride could be. He believes in the saying "You only live once" and he cherishes the adventurous memories for him tell people about, whether they like it or not. If anything, he's willing to take any opportunity to make his life colorful, vibrant, and a great journey without any regrets.

ASSERTIVEBold, decisive, and confident-- Ibarra is capable to standing up for himself and for the other people he cared about. He apparently has the want to get people to perk up and be like him, trying with his ability to encourage people to be confident with anything. He's bold to know what he is doing, but he's not being careless. He may be confident to take the credit he deserves but not boastful. But being decisive ended up with him being stubborn, especially to people who doesn't gain trust from him.

TALKATIVEIbarra is the type to ramble about something he is interested about, even if the people he was talking to probably won't care. His brain probably likes to run around, and generally doesn't see the issue of spouting interesting topics and fun facts. A budding extrovert, he would gladly talk to everyone who is willing especially those with good vibes. However, that gives him the chance to put his foot down to mouth and making really awkward situations.

SENSITIVEAn emotional kid, Ibarra could be easily angered just like her sister- but it was not just that. He has a lot of empathy going on to the people around him that he sometimes has a heart on his sleeve. He's really sensitive to the people close to him and would detect if they were down or anything like that. Well, sure, he does has the ability to suppress his emotions if need be, but doing so would only make him feel worse- that's why he has to express it before it implodes on him.

CLEVERHe may be bold, brave, and adventurous- but fortunately he has a brain to boot. Ibarra loves solving puzzles just as how he loves playing mystery video games, which is basically why he's a fan of RPG Adventure Games and mystery television series- because it involves adventure and solving the unknown, then he gets to proceed into new quests after succeeding. He loves putting gears together and doing anything that has something to do with computers, just anything that makes him think.

Why don't we break the rules already?

Drew was tiptoeing on her boots up-and-down as she was slowly getting excited to be sorted. Her excitable idealistic streak was surfacing onto her once again when she usually considered herself to be pragmatic nowadays. On the other side of the card, she was a bit nervous over the unknown, but she wasn't scared. She liked surprises, and it gives her something to be very curious about. "Drew-Jenna Eide." The Headmistress called out her name to be sorted, like everybody before her, and Drew's grin was both nervous and excited. She glanced at the crowd as she took the seat, only to see Ivar from the Hufflepuff table waving his hands frantically as if he was trying to get her attention. She was just shaking her head as she turned pink, because what her uncle was doing was downright embarrassing. Ugh, relatives...

CURIOUSDrew is a very curious person and she doesn't stop looking for answers. She will read many books in the library to satisfy her raising questions, as well as pestering some information out of the person if Drew had to. She doesn't always keep her toes and nose in one place, and would actually try to sneak in and eavesdrop if she can. This also made her an observant individual, and would try to pay attention some people might miss out.

SMARTAn avid bookworm with good memorization skills, Drew is very well-read and smart. She doesn't see the point of hiding it and thus is happy to search for solutions when being asked. Or even, she will try to volunteer and try to execute the solution once she finally knows how. Additionally, she believes that every piece of information is useful, and legends are lessons to be learned.

FRIENDLYDrew's chances of warming up to new people varies around the average area, but she is a fairly friendly person nonetheless. She likes being surrounded by friends- real friends, mind. She likes being around with people where she can be herself and with them, Drew is willing to give help with her abilities when necessary. However, if someone broke her heart especially when it's someone she trusted, you'll need a real heart-felt apology before going to her and her aggressiveness.

HONESTDrew is well-raised to value honesty, and this is still one of her traits that still clings onto her despite the things that happened to her in her childhood. She is not afraid to tell people the truth and is actually enjoying doing so, but more brutally honest when feeling emotional. But if one compares her to her father, she turns out to have softer blows and has the say-it-or-shut-up tactic going on. As much as she felt comfortable being blunt, Drew is much considerate enough to be tactful to the ones when necessary. However, there is also the time that she will know when to be blunt and ruthless to someone.

AGGRESSIVEDrew isn't a hot-tempered person but when feeling wronged, she can jump to retaliation and she does it big. She was never the one to pick fights nor pull punches, but Drew is into arguing and shouting matches at people. She can snark at people to show how she really feels instead of being distant to them. But when feeling threatened, Drew will never hesitate to hold her own feet and fight back, even if it meant pulling out a wand or making a punch.

Well, some nights I wish that this all would end...
'Cause I could use some friends for a change...
And some nights I'm scared you'll forget me again!..
Some nights I always win, I always win...
But I still wake up, I still see your ghost!..
Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh!..
What do I stand for? Most nights, I don't know...

Galen watched as the sorting was opened, and he almost snorted as a hat was brought out. Almost, up until it started singing. He listened to it, and watched as Theo was called up before him to be sorted. Honestly, he couldn't quite figure out which house he'd go to, but it wasn't like he was particularly cunning or intelligent, so he doubted he'd go anywhere like Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Which, to be honest, left Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. It honestly did make him wonder if this was how Rose felt when she had been sorted, waiting for the inevitable shoe to drop. Nevertheless, he walked up when his name was called and took a seat before the hat descended over his eyes.

◊ WILLFUL Gale is quite stubborn when he wants to be. He doesn't like budging from something if he knows he's right, and refuses to back down when someone challenges him. He also will act contrary to whatever someone else wants if he finds that he doesn't like the individual.
◊ PROTECTIVE Galen is actually quite protective of those he cares about. He'll step into any fight if he sees someone harassing his friends and family, and won't hesitate to stand his ground when necessary. He always tries to help get people out of bad situations he might see.
◊ FRIENDLY Galen is quite friendly and won't hesitate to try making new friends. He's usually the one to crack jokes to break the ice, and always offers a helping hand when people need one. He doesn't see the need to be rude or belligerent, though there can be times he is to people he doesn't like.
◊ PLAYFUL Galen's actually pretty playful when he's hanging around friends. He doesn't mind goofing off or acting silly, even going as far as to make jokes often. He also doesn't see how he has to be serious all the time, as he'd rather have fun than act as though everything was all-business.
◊ QUIET Galen's pretty quiet when not around friends or family. It's not that he's shy, he just doesn't see the need to draw attention to himself unless he has to. He'd rather not be the one to start fights either, instead working to find a more peaceful solution first.
◊ INSECURE Despite everything, Galen's actually pretty insecure. He's not sure about how people react to him at times, and he's especially not sure about if he's good enough for anything. He hides this quite well behind smiles and false confidence, though at times it can bleed through.

Akira entered the Great Hall, already sceptical about this whole thing. His scepticism reached all new heights as he saw a hat brought out, sat upon a stool, and the hat started singing. Apparently they were going to be sorted by some stupid hat? How exactly was that supposed to work? Akira didn't think the hat had anything like an AI or even remotely had anything like some kind of algorithm built in that could determine where everyone was going, which he had a hard time believing that the wizards had anything like an AI or enough computing power reduced to such a small size to even place into the hat. Unless... Well that was a concept. Maybe they had something kind of like a chip inserted into the hat that detected what the deputy headmistress was saying, and it had preprogrammed into it a list of the houses that everyone went into. That made more sense to him than a hat that somehow could read people's minds. Satisfied that was a logical answer, Akira proceeded to look around the hall, immediately taking in that there was plenty here that could be either replicated by, or replaced with, technology. The floating candles? Obviously mag-lev in action. The ceiling? Had to have a high-definition screen built into it. because there was no way that the ceiling actually could change to look like what the sky looked like. It was with these things in mind that Akira was finally called up, and he crossed his arms and waited for the hat to descend. "And this is where the automated system activated by the professor's voice comes in and spits out the house I'm in."

◊ GENIUS Akira has a genius-level intellect, showing itself at an early age. He knows how to work well around problems that stump everyone else around him, and learns at an incredible rate. However, his intellect is also a bit of a problem, as he is also socially awkward as a result. Not many people can relate to him, especially when he can think levels above most people.
◊ ENERGETIC Akira is constantly busy, working with his hands, or getting into things to figure them out. He seems to have an endless supply of energy as a result, and bounces from one project to the next. His family as a result has a hard time keeping up with him and constantly had to find new ways of keeping him busy lest they find themselves with half of their appliances dismantled.
◊ CREATIVE Akira is highly creative, able to think outside the box. Not one to settle for mediocrity, he prefers to think up new and imaginative ways to apply what he knows, and often can be found tinkering with things to satisfy his creative nature. He also tends to have notebooks filled with ideas that he has come up with himself, often haphazardly strewn around his room.
◊ WILY Akira is also quite cunning in his own way, able to con people into getting what he wants when he wants. He's able to see variables in things he's up to to figure out what would be to his advantage, and often uses it to get around rules he finds 'boring' or too constricting. It is this trait alone that gets him into the most trouble, as he can oftentimes get in well over his head and need to be bailed out of trouble.
◊ FOCUSED Akira, once he gets started on something, can have a single-minded focus that blanks out everything around him. This focus has helped him many times in the past during school and working on projects, but it also is a detriment as sometimes he can become too absorbed that he forgets to do things like eat and sleep. Oftentimes, his older brother has had to drag him from projects even though at times, he too can suffer from the same mindset.
◊ RECKLESS Akira doesn't consider the consequences of a lot of his actions. While he can think his way through problems, sometimes his solutions create more problems for him in the future than solve them, and he often gets into trouble as a result. While his family has tried to curb his reckless streak, it has persisted and sometimes resulted in Akira coming to bodily harm as a result.

                                                  People call me Gabby...
                                                  I'm 11 years old...

                                                  Location: Great Hall

Gabriella enjoyed the boat ride with Nath, Theo, and Galen. They weren’t a bad bunch. Not in her mind at least. They seemed to know about muggle things, which was a relief considering she knew nothing really about magic except minor details. They may have known more or just as little as she did but at least they knew about her ‘normal’ stuff. The squid was interesting not to mention pretty big. Gabby thought it had to be pretty rare even for magical world standards. Though what did she know really.

Being guided to the great hall by the deputy headmistress many looming eyes stared at them. Was it necessary to have all eyes on them like they were the main attraction? The school seemed to think so. The hall ceiling was interesting what with the night sky, never mind that her school was a literal castle. She had no idea how this sorting thing would go especially when the hat was brought out. "Is that a talking hat…?" She questioned in a whisper. When Nath’s name was called she looked to him then watched and waited for where he might land. Then it was Theo and then Galen.

                                                  “Gabriella Stanford,”

It felt like forever before her name was called and Gabby was the focus of the room. Walking up to the stool the orange haired girl took a seat and waited for the hat to be placed on her head. ‘I cannot believe I’m listening to a talking hat right now… The next thing I’m going to hear is it reads minds or something…’ She thought to herself. She had no idea that it really could read what was inside her head. Boy was she going to get a surprise.

                                                      ■ GENERALLY UNHAPPY I'm the complete opposite of happy… that’s not saying I’m miserable twenty four seven I’m just not super happy and hyper all the time if at all. Maybe it’s because of how my life turned out…? It’s a tad complicated… I don’t have any girl’s in my life. It’s just dad and I. Okay, so it’s not exactly complicated… Whatever… it doesn’t matter… I try to enjoy myself.
                                                      ■ DAREDEVIL Anyways because it’s just the two of us I’m kind of a tomboy. I like doing dangerous stuff people might call crazy cause it's fun that way and I’m up for anything any guy can dish out. Hope that’s not a problem. My dad thinks that like, all the time.
                                                      ■ REBELLIOUS I’ve been told I have authority issues and I don’t take nonsense well but it’s not my fault people think they’re so smart when they clearly aren’t. Not that I’m about to talk back to my father or a teachers cause I’d never do that but a fellow classmate sure. They don’t know everything… then again neither do I… at least I’m willing to admit that right?
                                                      ■ OUTSPOKEN As you may have guessed I'm pretty outspoken, being direct and at times very candid about my opinions. That especially goes for when I'm annoyed or irritated as I'm easily agitated. That’s usually why I get angered so easily. Now, I don't sugar coat my words as I don't see the need. Don't get me wrong I can hold my tongue when I want too. I'm not a mean person I just prefer speaking the truth and at times my mind.
                                                      ■ CYNICAL I have a hard time trusting people. Makes sense when you think about how my mother was never there for me and everything. That's why I don't hold my breath since people only do what they feel benefit them. We're self-motivated beings there's no escaping it. My skepticism is the reason I'm so negative all the time. Then again I'm a pessimist believing the worst will happen instead of the best. What can I say I'm the opposite of being optimistic?
                                                      ■ RESILIENT Despite my doubts and cynical behaviour I'm quite resilient. I won't back down and I never give up not without a fight. Even when I'm down I'm never out. I can take anything anyone can dish out. Like I said earlier I'm not a happy or optimistic person but giving up is not in my vocabulary.

The Professor set the hat down carefully on the student's head. For a moment the hat was silent before speaking....
Such a perceptive young girl!
I do read minds, in fact, and in yours I read...
Ah! Youthful rebellion, a strong backbone and a loud mouth
Well then, that makes it easy.

Gryffindor!
