Agreed. I for one point at the Ak-47. I have read an article written by a GI in which he said they had a captured AK-47 in a locker at a shooting range. They would leave it in there for a month, come back, the bolt was rusted shut, he would kick it open with his boot and then fire it like nothing happened. Worked everytime.

Guns are built to stand up and fight, not get pampered every 10 clips/magazines.

Especially Nagants and AKs.
They're built to be reliable, and the Nagants were built with such low specifications(?) that they were able to still be fired in the Russian winters, that and some special oil mixture they used. I think it was their kind of gun oil or grease mixed with gasoline.
The German rifles were built with such high precision that they locked up in the winters and were nearly useless.

Or so I've heard.

The M16 has a trigger group that allows for burst fire, a heavier barrel to withstand said burst fire, and the sights can't be adjusted. That's pretty much the only difference.

1.5 inch bore....Isn't that a naval gun? Not to mention, wouldn't something that big around be at the very least a very long rifle, with a very long action? Not ot mention the really thick magazine. At 1.5 inches, 300 rounds comes out to what, about 37 feet? Not counting the size of the case, mind you.

It's actually a matter of defying the law of physics.
30 bullets occupy the same space and the magazine itself is a lot larger on the inside than it is on the outside.
