.:. Motherly Shrinekeep .:. Username: Zero and Below Lioness's Name: Kivuli Mkaazi Meaning: 'Shadow Dweller' Personality: Kivuli Mkaazi was once a kind sweet female. To many she still is to this day, but she has a lot of pain in her heart. Sorrows from her dark past and even some anger. However through all her emotions she tries to not let it affect others, for she is like a mother to many and a teacher.
She knows it is her duty to make sure the future has to learn the spirits and Loa's well and that they are always gifted, respected, and called upon properly.
History: After falling in love with an unsteady male her life turned around when her first and only cub was stolen in her sleep and killed by her own mate. She revenged her daughters death and still continued to be a Shrinekeeper for her pride.
Prompt Number: 1 + 2 (mix)
Prompt one It's raining quite hard, but the rain does not keep you from visiting your cub's Hounfor, as is your daily custom. All the way there and while you're there, you think about how he/she died. What do you bring as a gift, what do you think about, and what do you say to your cub's unseen spirit?
Prompt two This is mostly a free-thought prompt, but it should answer the following questions: what happened to your mate? How do you feel about what happened? Do you ever think about finding a new mate? Prompt Response:
The rain poured hard, she could only hear it hit the earth in pitch dark. Her mine settled on the place she would visit soon, like she did every night. But her mind stopped and started to slip into her past memories, the memories that were as dark as this very night.
'Ever since Kivuli Mkaazi could remember she was a part of this pride, and ever since her cub died she visited him every night. She had always been motherly like as she taught the young and new Shrinekeepers and finally the time came when she actually became a mother. She was a proud mom of a beautiful daughter and the mate to handsome male. However her mate was always known for being aggressive and hostile. Many doubted their relationship for Kivuli Mkaazi was always very sweet and kind. Many thought a male like him would need someone to match his hostility and tempers. And they never really approved of his courtship. Never did he exchange trinkets or try to impress her. People doubted his true feelings for her but she ignored them and continued to believe it was real.
After finally delivering a beautiful female cub her whole world changed. Her daughter was frail and weak, they hardly thought she would make it through the night. She never gave hope though she cared for it all day watching it carefully. However the thoughts of doubt on her and her mates relationship seemed to prove true. He was so upset, so angry with what had happened. Not only did she have a cub, but to a weak fragile female that shouldn't even survive.
All day she spent by the side of her daughter, praying to the spirits to keep her alive. Her mate had stormed off after seeing what Kivuli Mkaazi had birthed into the pride.
When Kivuli Mkaazi fell asleep at night with her daughter her own mate returned. He returned not being the same, not realizing what he was about to do. And when she woke, she woke with horror. Screams of panic and sorrow were heard as the sun rose. The pride woke and fled to the scene, and there was Kivuli Mkaazi, and by her side a empty spot.
Kivuli Mkaazi shot up and pushed past her pride after the few moments of hysteria. Anger pulsed through her body, she could hear the blood pounding in her ears. The den smelt of her mate, and the smell of blood. She could still smell the stench. She followed the trail to where she knew she would find her daughter. She was however sure of what she would find, she just didn't want to believe it.
Finally she came to the sight, it made her fur stand on end. Her mate was sitting there with a fragile body torn and shredded at his feet. He was staring at it with teary eyes, blood covering his muzzle. Kivuli Mkaazi almost felt his sorrow and regret for what he had done, he always let his emotions get to him. She pushed that away, h was no longer her mate but a murderer. "You vicious KILLER!" she shouted angrily as she ran at him and leapt.
She remembers seeing his eyes only glance at her for a moment as she attacked then back at the body. He knew what was happening and did not try to fight back. Finally she felt her jaws clamp shut on his throat, her teeth cutting into his neck. Blood, his blood, flooded into her mouth and seeped down her throat. She felt him give his final struggle and heard his last breathe. She finally let go of him, his body dropping to the ground in a big heap.
She looked at him, he killed her only cub, and she had now killed him. She could not help but to feel responsible for her daughters death. She took the remains of her daughter back to her den and honored her by putting her bones on her necklace. So many thoughts of regret and what if's ran through her mind. She did what she did, nothing would change what happened.'
Her thoughts drifted back to sleep and brought her back to reality. She looked down as her own little pool of tears has begin to collect below her. She shook off the last tears in her eyes and headed to the Hounfor, to her daughters shrine, taking with her a few gifts.
The walk there felt treacherous, the rain soaked her fur flat but she had to go. Finally she came to the stone shrine of her daughter, covered with light moss and sticks placed in patterns. Past gifts laid there surrounding it. Kivuli Mkaazi approached it closely and laid down her offerings. She knew all the loa's and each gift to offer however her daughter never got the chance to establish this. So her mother brought her many gifts. Flowers, to honor the kindness she shared and the normal life she should have been given instead of taken away so young. Bones of some prey for the anger towards what had happened. Some water for the avenged deed of her father killing her. Claws and teeth to give her daughter the strength she never had and was sadly killed for. And finally an extra bead of her own necklace so that they may always be connected.
"My beautiful daughter, you were born so weak but with such a strong heart. Your life was taken to early..." Her words turned to whispers as she closed her eyes.
She thought about her mate, her daughter, her only family she had. Gone. For once since her daughters death she actually thought about the future. Would she ever have a mate again, or even cubs? she asked herself this.
Maybe one day. It would take a while and a lot of healing but it was possible. Kivuli Mkaazi knew her daughter would want her to be happy, it was just a matter of herself letting her be happy.
