Miraculously, he stayed in the water for more than half a second this time. It didn't feel like much of a reprieve, though. The vines were still uncomfortably friendly.

The boar was waiting for him. Because the vines and the mud hadn't been enough. He tried to deter it by looking positively pathetic, but that just seemed to encourage it.
