The Rolycoly popped out of the safari ball; "Oh no! It's still dazed and confused," Jezebel throws a 2nd one. "Fingers crossed."

It escaped the pokeball, "Dang, it seems close that time. Last chance." She said throwing her last ball.

[Upper North Wild Area]

Sol would end up practically throwing the Safari Ball like a fastball, hitting the Eevee between his ears and ensnaring him inside. Between the shock and being too exhausted to keep up much of a fight, he'd be caught with surprising ease; enough that elsewhere in the Wild Area, Aden was probably shuddering all of a sudden.

"You know, I probably didn't need to throw it that hard..." He said to himself, letting Inigo go off to get a few berries to fill his stomach as he picked up the ball. "Now I just have to wonder if Galar's got any weirdly mossy rocks."

He and his Scorbunny would likely continue their excursion soon enough.

"Oh, good grief," Brian said, as yet another Purrloin appeared and went straight for Lu. "Can't we run into something that's actually interesting again? Quick Attack." Lu jumped forward with a Quick Attack, hitting the Purrloin hard, but not before taking a bit of damage from a Hone Claws-boosted Fury Swipes. It only hit three times, but it was still enough to hurt, a lot. Lu cried out in pain and anger, using Vacuum Wave of her own volition before Brian had a chance to call out an attack.

The Fighting-type attack hit the Dark-type harder than the Quick Attack, dealing massive damage, though the Purrloin still had some fight left in it. Brian saw the Dark-type using Hone Claws again, and knew he had to end it before Lu took any more damage. "Lu, Quick Attack into Low Kick!" he barked, and the Riolu jumped to obey, using Quick Attack to get close to her opponent before unleashing a devastating Low Kick, sending the Purrloin tumbling backward, completely knocked out. "Here, Lu," Brian said, handing the Riolu a couple Sitrus berries. "These will restore yer health." Once Lu had eaten the berries, the four continued, hoping they might run into another native Galar Pokemon.

As Odd and Remix continued their search, Odd found himself incredibly lucky when, out of nowhere, a bear trap snapped shut on his leg. Thankful to have his channeling back again, he was glad to see the trap passed harmlessly through his body. "Fisk?" Wait... did that trap just speak?"

Pulling out his SNAG, he'd step away and scan it, startled slightly when it opened again on it's own while still being scanned.

"That would be a Stunfisk, Galarian variant." GRAY provided. "One of these days, you're going to have to learn to actually read you know?" The AI chided.

Odd ignored the comment and inquired further. "Why does it look like an animal trap? Aren't Stunfisk supposed to be aquatic?"

"According to the information at my disposal the Galarian variant is more amphibious than it's Unovan cousin with a preferred prey of... humans, it seems." Even GRAY seemed a bit surprised by that. Most Pokemon didn't actively prey on humans for more than energy of some kind. "It seems they like to hide on land, usually among tall grasses or gravel, with only their Pokeball-colored beaks exposed and wait for curious humans to try and pick up what they believe to be an item storage ball or perhaps a dropped Pokeball and then they attack, like this one did to you. Most humans aren't lucky enough to avoid the attack, however."

Odd chose not to remind GRAY of his partially-dead status or point out that he hadn't actually avoided the attack.

He recognized the symbols on the PokeDex page for it's type and noted that it should be an easy enough fight for Remix if they avoided the Ground-type moves.

"Remix, use Bonemarang." Odd directed as the Stunfisk finished unlocking itself from it's "attack" position. The Trap Pokemon's body glowed for a brief instant before the Bonemarang struck, though it seemed to have prevented quite a bit of damage, as if it had changed it's type.

"You used Reflect Type. Clever girl..." Odd realized, spotting the sex marker on the PokeDex entry GRAY had pulled up. "No clever enough, though." He told it as he directed Remix to attack again. "Shadow Bone!"

"Marow!" The marowak exclaimed rushing toward the animal trap-shaped fish(?) and swinging at it with full force. Stunfisk snapped it's body in half, folding away from the initial swing. With an equally fast snap, it unfolded and launched itself toward Remix with a Sucker Punch the moment the Marowak thought it wasn't going to act again. "Protect!" Odd called, sensing the Trap Pokemon's intention to attack seconds before it made to do so.

Remix conjured a shimmering blue-green shield between himself and Stunfisk just barely in time to stop the Dark-type assault. "Bonemarang!" Stunfisk responded by using Iron Defense, hardening it's flesh against the physical attack. "Fire Blast!" Odd's call for the second attack came before the first had even finished. The flower of flames was spit forth fast enough that Stunfisk failed to transition between moves, becoming consumed by the flames before it could respond with any kind of defense. When the smoke cleared, both figuratively and literally, the Pokemon was laid on the ground, unconscious.

Larrimore stopped in his tracks as they passed by a small meadow of flowers, eying the buzzing Combee with great curiosity. His Pineco, hopping alongside him, looked confused by its trainer's interest in these common bees. Any other time they encountered them the hybrid didn't even bother to pay them a second thought but now the man seemed completely focused on them. Larrimore would slowly crouched down as to not disturb the Combee as they went about their buzzy business, slowly and quietly scooping up his Pineco and putting one finger up to his lips to inform the bagworm to be quiet as it looked up at him.

Taking a few steps to the left and getting into position, Larrimore would point out a specific Combee that was now directly in front of the, the bee perched on a large flower as it happily collected its pollen. The Pineco at first didn't see what they big deal was, it looked like all the rest, the bagworm looking up at its trainer with a confused look again. Larrimore, knowing good and well what Pineco was trying to convey, would take a finger and draw an imaginary upside down triangle on his forehead and then point to the Combee again. That was when Pineco finally understood, that specific Combee was different from the others with the red triangle on the bottom face. Must be rare for its trainer to be so interested.

Now that Pineco knew what the target was, Larrimore would rear back with the Pineco in his left hand, the Pokemon knowing good and well what this meant and prepared to be tossed and executed whatever command was given. Larrimore would freeze for a second as he waited for the Combee to drop its guard and soon enough he would find that moment as it turned its back to them to fiddle around with another flower. Seeing his open he would chuck his Pineco in that direction and shout a command. "Gyro Ball!" He cried out, all the Combee whipping around to see what that was and starting to flee immediately.

As Pineco flew through the air he would begin to spin rapidly, a shimmering silver energy consuming him as he executed the Gyro Ball. The female Combee would attempt to flee but as Pineco quickly closed in it would find its self flying backwards, getting caught in Pineco's Gyro Ball pull. As Pineco landed he would begin to spin even faster, Combee getting snatched directly into the Pineco finally, its own speed greater than the sluggish Pineco thus making it a prime victim for the move, Pineco grinding its rugged body into the bee as spun in place.

The Gyro Ball wouldn't last for long and the angry Combee would finally pull its self off of Pineco and promptly begin to flap its wings with great vigor, conjuring up a strong wing as it sent the Pineco rolling backwards with a Gust attack. While super effective it wasn't particularly powerful, Combee preferring to flee anyways as their battle prowess were naturally not great, ths why they traveled in numbers. For a second Larrimore expected the bug to immediately flee once Pineco was distracted by the Gust but it didn't, instead it appeared ready to see this battle to the end. The Pinsir hybrid liked what he was seeing in this lady bee.

After Pineco finally stopped rolling and righted its self Larrimore would give his next command, hoping to wrap up this capture quick. "Payback!" He ordered, running up to the Pineco and punting it in the direction of the Combee. With a devious snicker Pineco's body would give off a sinister black glow as it summoned forth its feelings of revenge against the bee for that Gust it suffered energy. The bagworm would then slam right into the hovering Combee, knocking it out of the sky as it unleashed its Payback upon the bug. Landing safely the Pineco looked at the downed Combee with great satisfaction. Whoever said revenge wasn't rewarding?

Flapping its wings erratically as it fluttered back off the ground the Combee re-positioned its self to face Pineco again and let out an angry buzz, the Combee then looking around as if it expected something to happen. That was weird, Larrimore would ponder what that was all about for a moment before it hit him. This particularly Combee was destined to be a queen. While male Combee could never evolve female Combee, in nature, weren't always guaranteed to become Vespiquen, they had to be raised in a specific manner and given royal jelly for that to happen. Trainers would supplement these required nutrients but from what Larrimore saw at La Ruche it was never the same. A natural Vespiquen was always a step above. This excited him further.

The Combee would swoop in upon Pineco and deliver a triple Bug Bite, all three faces taking a n** at Pineco. Growing annoyed by this pesky bug on it Pineco began to glow, as it preparing to Self-Destruct, as Pineco do when bothered. However Larrimore would step in and instruct the bug otherwise. "Use Counter!" He cried out.

After hearing its trainers command the Pineco would resist its instincts and instead began to give off a brown glow before spinning rapidly. unleashing the pain it suffered from the Bug Bite and throwing it back at the Combee two fold, with extreme pleasure. Man, Pineco was really in a vengeful mood today.

The Combee would sail through the air again before slamming on the ground, still conscious but very weak as it attempt to get its self off the ground again, finding it incredibly difficult to do so. Seeing his opportunity Larrimore would quickly conjure up a Net Ball from his bag and without a second of delay would chuck it at the grounded Combee. The bee would let out a cry as the ball bounced off its top right head, the device popping open to create a 'net' of energy which would encase the Combee and pulling into the confines of the ball. The Net Ball would then immediately slam shut and fall to the ground, the ball proceeding to tilt from side to side as the Combee inside attempted to resist capture.

To Larrimore's utmost surprise the Net Ball would burst open right after the third wobble, the Combee looking as if it caught its second wind as it gave out a very angry buzz. It must be mad over Larrimore's attempt to capture. With what Larrimore could only describe as fury fueled by offense taken from the attempted capture the Combee would give off another Gust, this time flapping in the direction of Larrimore, the Pinsir hybrid grunting as he stood firm to resist the Gust, though he had to admit it did sting and felt like it had much more force behind it than he what he expected from a Combee.

Once the Gust ended and Larrimore could regather his wits he would turn to Pineco and consider what to do next. He needed to incapacitate this bee, it had a whole lot of spunk in it, spunk he wished to have for himself but for now it was presenting a problem to him, one that he wanted to solve sooner rather than later after having wasted one ball already. Taking out another Pokeball, this time a Heal Ball, he would turn to Combee and call out to his Pineco and give him another command as he readied to throw the device in his hand.

"String Shot!" He called out to his Pokemon. The Pineco would gladly obey as it took a deep breath and pointed the top of its head at the Combee before spraying a surge of strings of silken thread at the Combee, the String Shot quickly wrapping around the Combee and binding its wings to its body, causing it to fall to the ground with a thud, finding its self momentarily tied up. Ordinarily Pineco could only produce a modest amount of silk, just enough to adhere its self to branches to hang from, however Larrimore met a Move Tutor in Johto that helped him teach Pineco how to produce much more and utilize as String Shot.

With the Combee now grounded Larrimore would take his chance and hurl the ball at the bug, the ball bouncing off of its head like last time, a flash of pink light resulting as the bug was sucked into the ball. The device would shut like before and begin to wobble on the ground, again like before. Let's see if it was a success this time.

The ball would stop shaking this time after the third wobble, the button giving off a capture confirming slow blink before ceasing any movement of light. Combee was caught.

Walking over to the Heal Ball Larrimore would bend over and pick it up, promptly stashing it away on his belt. He was content in knowing that not only did he procure another Pokemon for this challenge but also one that was immediately healed thanks to the device used. He was going to need everything he could get for what he had planned.

Recalling his Pineco Larrimore turned his attention to the Wild Area at large, pressing the button on his Challenge Band to remove the protective field of energy to indicate that he was finished with the Safari Contest. He had wasted enough time here as it was, he had places to be a person to see after all. It was time to address a few unresolved grievances. With that Larrimore executed a Quick Attack and ran off into the wilds towards his target, whoever or whatever that was.

Brian and Elio both frowned when another Chewtle appeared. "This is getting old," Brian said, shaking his head. The Water-type made to use Bite on Brian, but Lu was quicker, slamming into the Chewtle with Quick Attack. The turtle-looking Pokemon drew back, then lunged forward with a Headbutt, hitting Lu hard and sending her skidding backward. That had apprently really hurt, as the Riolu cried out in pain when the attack hit.

Struggling now to stand steady, Lu looked to Brian, who nodded. "Screech," he ordered, and Lu let out the loudest Screech attack he'd ever heard, even causing him to wince at the piercing noise. The Chewtle tried to bury its head in the dirt, but it was fruitless, and when Lu finally stopped her attack, it seemed a bit disoriented. "Low Kick," Brian commanded, and Lu ran forward to deal a hard blow with her Low Kick attack, sending the Chewtle into the air. Brian knew this was their chance to end it, and he gave Lu another nod. "Finish it with Vacuum Wave!" he said, and Lu fired the attack into the air, hitting the Chewtle on its belly and sending it flying a short distance away to land on its back, knocked out. "I think we'll take one more look around, then head back to the others," Brian said, and Elio nodded in agreement as they chose one last area to search.

((This is my last post for the Safari Contest, unless I can make the catch.))

As they reached the final area to search, a rather familiar Pokemon walked forward, though this one didn't seem too aggressive, at least not yet. Brian and Lu stared at the Normal/Fighting-type, wondering if it would attack, but it didn't seem interested, instead looking up at him with a cute look and a tilt of its head. Brian wasn't falling for it, knowing how some Pokemon stole food from trainers, and he turned out to be right, as the Stufful suddenly lunged forward, intent on trying to latch onto Brian's bag. He was quick to jerk back, leaving the Stufful eating dirt as it landed face-first. "Let's try to make the most of this battle, Lu, it'll be our last in this area," he said. He only had one Pokeball left, and while it was meant more for Water-types, it might just work to catch him a new Pokemon that he could train.

Lu was ready, having restored some of her health with another Sitrus berry that Brian had given her. She kept her eyes on the Stufful as the two started to circle each other, and Brian waited until the Stufful lunged forward again, using Brutal Swing, before calling out an attack. "Dodge, then use Quick Attack!" he called, and Lu dodged the attack, albeit barely, still tired from so many battles, before running forward and landing her Quick Attack. It sent the Stufful skidding to one side, though it came back and tried to use Payback to deal more damage than Lu had done to it.

"It won't do that much damage, but it'll still hurt," Brian said, half to himself, then called out another attack. "Again, Quick Attack!" She wasn't quite able to dodge the Payback, and took some damage, though not nearly as much as if she'd used a stronger attack, she still managed to land her Quick Attack, sending the Stufful rolling this time, having taken more damage than before, thanks to a critical hit. While it was still trying to get its bearings, Brian took his final Pokeball and threw it, hitting the Stufful in the head as the Pokeball opened and sucked the Normal/Fighting-type inside in a beam of red light. Popping shut, the ball landed on the ground, and Brian and Lu waited to see if the capture would be successful.

((Freaking heck....dumb dice really don't like me for some reason.))

Brian growled in frustration as the Pokeball popped back open, releasing the Stufful and ruining his last chance to make another catch. The Stufful, angry at him trying to capture it, lunged for him with another Brutal Swing, but Lu jumped in front of her trainer, taking the hit square in the chest and crying out in pain as she was dealt quite a bit of damage. Angry that the Stufful had tried to hurt her trainer, she unleashed her most powerful Screech, running forward as she did so and landing a Low Kick, sending the Stufful flying backward to land on the ground, out cold. As soon as the battle was over, Lu dropped to one knee, panting heavily from having so many battles. "It's alright, Lu, ye did well," Brian said, kneeling down beside her and laying a hand on her shoulder. "Take a rest, alright? We're going to catch up with the rest of the team." Having said this, he picked the Riolu up and put her on his shoulders, with her hind paws hanging on either side of his neck as she grabbed the top of his head with both front paws, resting her head on his as she promptly fell asleep from exhaustion. Brian smiled as he felt this, then looked at Elio and Torracat. "Let's head back and rejoin the rest of the team," he said, and the boy and Pokemon nodded in agreement as the four of them headed out of the Safari Contest area, hoping to catch up to the main force quickly.

As they were getting ready to rejoin the rest of the team, something lying on the ground caught Brian's attention, and he looked down to see a Pokeball he'd only seen once or twice before. "What in the world is a Repeat Ball doing here?" he asked. "Whoever left it here either doesn't know what they lost, or left it here for someone to find." After a moment, he gave a shrug and placed it on his belt, then looked at Elio again. "Let's give it one more try," he said. "After that, we'll rejoin the rest of the team."

"Seriously?" Brian said, his shoulders sagging as yet another Purrloin moved to meet them. He'd met enough Purrloin and Liepard to know just how tricky they could be, so he wasn't about to let his guard down. He shook Lu gently, waking her just long enough for her to see that there would be one last battle. Not amused at having her nap interrupted, the Riolu jumped to the ground and immediately fired off a Vacuum Wave, though as tired as she was, the Purrloin dodged it somewhat easily. A Scratch was landed on Lu, though she shrugged it off and came at the Purrloin again with a Quick Attack, which it couldn't dodge in time and took square in the chest.

"Vacuum Wave," Brian ordered, and Lu obeyed, hitting the Purrloin this time and sending it reeling again. Taking the Repeat Ball he'd just found, he lobbed it at the Purrloin, hitting it in the head. As it was sucked inside and the ball dropped to the ground, Brian was hoping that this time, he might be able to make the catch.
