Fear Loops

There are always rumors about Sims games before they are released. There were tonssss of rumors before Sims 2 was released.
Some of them came true with expansion packs, some of them did not.

In this case, it's probably true.
Their (Maxis) is to create a game as realistic as possible.

The thing is, everything I've heard has come from gaming magazines, and one of the big ones was the aging neighborhood. I wouldn't pay attention if it were just a rumor, but when a gaming magazine makes a big deal of something (which they did) I tend to pay attention to that. And most everything that's been in the magazines has not excited me about the game.

Just one more month!

EA is driving me nuts, they keep uploading videos onto the official Sims 3 site... OMG, Sims 3 looks so awesome.

Just one more month....

Anybody had a go with the SimSocial game yet?
http://simsocial.thesims3.com/popup
I'm quite enjoying it actually but I can see a lot of people would find it boring.

Ok so, I've heard that it's leaked and that a lot of people are verifying this. If I had any courage or risk-taking-abilities, I would totally go search the internet for it.
Oh and SimSocial is pretty addicting

In the video Gaia posted in the Sims 3 Announcement it mentioned something about the guy's sims still aging while he wasn't playing.
I don't really like the idea of an aging neighborhood, either.

Oh man, I am SO EXCITED about the personality traits feature!

Also, I was thinking - what do you think will be the first expansion pack for The Sims 3? I'm hoping it'll be something like "The Sims3: Enchanted." They can put in fairy tale aspects, likes Kings and Queens, Fairy God Mothers, etc. That way, there can still be a magic segment just like Makin' Magic with the original Sims, but it'll be revamped like crazy to where people can become Fairy God Mother's or Father's as a career and such. Not to mention all the cool objects and architectual designs that would be included. wink

That actually sounds like a fabulous idea! Like, if you have a kid they could have a fairy god parent, and the kid could wish for certain things kind of like a genie but purely for children. That could be really really fun!

I wouldn't mind a remake of Superstar. The Sims 3: Celebrities.....

I really wish I had the funds for it. crying

It would cost $120 for me.
Because I'd be getting the Special Edition (of course!) and I'll need a new graphics card to play it...

I reckon I'd need a whole new machine to play it. sad

Ditto. I don't think my laptop can handle it and I need a new video card at least for my desktop (since I can't play regular sims without the blue screen).

Unfortunately I'm paying for a wedding in August so I don't have any disposible income sad

Are you guys talking about Sims 3 not working? (assuming you are)
System specs, copied right from the sims 3 website.

FOR WINDOWS XP
* 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* A 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
* Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games

FOR WINDOWS VISTA
* 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1.5 GB RAM
* A 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least:
* Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above
* 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
* 0.5 GB additional RAM

FOR MAC OS X
* Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
* Intel Core Duo Processor
* 2 GB RAM
* ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100.
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space, with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
* This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.

Windows Supported Video Cards
-----------------------------

NVIDIA GeForce series
FX 5900, FX 5950
6200, 6500, 6600, 6800
7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
9300, 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
G100, GT 120, GT 130, GTS 150
GTS 250, GTX 260, GTX 280, GTX 285, GTX 295

ATI Radeon(TM) series
9500, 9600, 9800
X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
2400, 2600, 2900
3450, 3650, 3850, 3870
4850, 4870

Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA)
GMA 3-Series, GMA 4-Series

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly.

Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants may default to settings that are higher than what would be optimal for them. Graphics settings can be lowered to improve performance.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

MAC OS X Supported Video Cards
------------------------------

NVIDIA GeForce series
7300, 7600
8600, 8800
9400M, 9600M GT
GT 120, GT 130

ATI Radeon(TM) series
X1600, X1900
2400, 2600
3870,
4850, 4870

Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA)
GMA 3-Series

So I ran "can you run it" and got a pass (Not High but middle of the road)

Can you Run It?

I'm not sure if I believe it thought, what with problems already with the video card with Sims 2, unless they've fixed that.
PostPosted: Thu May 28, 2009 8:23 am
I'm pretty sure I can run it.. just need more RAM which isnt that expensive. Cheaper than buying a whole new system (which I might just do n sell my current pc). *shrugs* It'll work on my fiance's pc anyway, lol.

@ Iris - CONGRATS!

Well now I KNOW that my machine can't run the game. I fall flat on RAM and graphics card.
Always good to know I have a sound card installed though, lol.
