Well, let's see if I can come up with a plotline for Gardenoli:
Well, Gardenia assumes the role of pacifistic loner type of Kite's dossier. Unlike Marlo, who seems largely unappreciative of any help, and Moonstone, who is almost complete silent though highly respectful of Kite, Gardenia seems stoicly demanding and alienating when around Kite. Remember, the condition for acquiring her address demanded that Kite must accompany her whenever she requested his assistance. In this respect, Gardenia may seem to assume the role of a more passive Haseo in Atoli's eyes.
On the flip side, Gardenia admittantly has a delicate side. The areas where she demands Kite's attendance are heavily laden with flower names (you meet her at Soft Solitary Tri-Pansy, a hint towards her personality). Plus, the area where Kite finally builds enough gall to ask her why she chooses field with flower title, she responds something to the effect of:
"The life span of a flower is extremely short. But in that brief moment in time, it lives with all of its might."
Most notably this would appeal to the suicidal side of Atoli, as she knows how it feels. Depending on when she met Gardenia, she could mention Sakaki's help or Haseo's. Plus, the two are similar in that they apparently respect the design of the world; remember, Gardenia mentions that if she knew she were going to die tomorrow, she "would want to lie in a field with flowers and quietly wait for that time to come." Atoli likes playing with the things in The World.
In the end, Atoli would try to get Gardenia to feel better and open up, much like she did Haseo. Gardenia would probably resist her at first but would eventually succumb (no pun intended) once a happenstance meeting in a field revealed the two's appreciation for nature. Something like that, maybe.
