Oh, Donella explained it better for her. So, she grew up in the magical community. Good, that meant she was actually useful to Rayne, at least, for a little while. "I'm a Muggleborn. My governor explained Hogwarts a little to me. But I don't know much and I don't like going into a situation without knowing some more about it. Can you tell me anything about this school?" There was almost a skeptical tone to her words, like this was all still some kind of mean prank on her. Of course, she'd seen magic in action, she had a wand in her pocket that could cast spells and she'd walked through a column onto a platform. She'd seen people disappear and appear randomly. She knew magic was real. Yet part of her still believed all this was some mean prank. Good things like this never happened to her. And yet, here she was. ❊𝓢𝒆𝓿𝒆𝓷𝓽𝓱 𝓨𝒆𝓪𝓻 𝓢𝓵𝔂𝓽𝓱𝒆𝓻𝓲𝓷❊ Tessa had apparated herself to the platform with her belongings, glad she was finally able to arrive without one of her idiot cousins escorting her. Nope. She was officially an adult, and that made her happy. She strut to the train, nose in the air as usual. Honestly, she detested being crammed on the small platform with dozens of snot-nosed little first years. She climbed on the train to place her trunk in her preferred cabin, then marched out to stand and wait on.... well anyone she knew to talk to. Thoughts of a certain blonde crossed her mind, but she quickly squelched that thought in order to maintain her prim-and-proper expression. You fall through the trees, And you pray with your knees on the ground. For the things that you need... With your lust and your greed weighing down. And you weaken your love, And you hold it above your head. Success is a song of the heart, not a song of your bed!

Donella felt a bit bad now; Rayne certainly must be ill at ease with this whole thing, even if she sounded more skeptical than anything else, and had obviously met someone associated with the school and been to Diagon Alley. There was much more to the wizarding world than Diagon Alley, after all. "Oh! Well, I suppose first you should know about the four houses," Donella said enthusiastically, without a moment's hesitation. "The school is basically built on them, after all. The founders- Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin created Hogwarts to educate young witches and wizards, and everyone who attends is sorted into one house or another." She wasn't very excited about her own sorting, as she assumed she'd be in Hufflepuff like both of her parents, but that hadn't dampened her eagerness to start at the school. Donella had attended muggle school as a child, but it just wasn't the same, and having to hide a massive part of her life had been a struggle. "For example, both of my parents, and one of my aunts, were sorted into Hufflepuff. People in Hufflepuff are said to be extremely loyal and hard-working. But my grandmother on my mam's side was in Ravenclaw, which is supposed to be the house for the creative and the clever, and my grandfather and two of my uncles were in Slytherin, which is supposed to be for the cunning and ambitious. There's also Gryffindor," she shrugged. "I only have one uncle who was in that house, but it's for the brave and bold. So once we arrive at Hogwarts, they're going to sort us. I'm not quite sure how it's done, because I suppose it's supposed to be a surprise and all." The blonde wrinkled her nose, displeased at not knowing all the details. What if she ended up embarrassed in front of everyone? Donella could just picture Treva cackling in the audience somewhere.
And we all still die, yeah, we all still die- What will you leave behind, oh, we all still die... Marching away from the stream; This tree, it will die without leaves. This tree, it will die, this tree, it will die. And we all still die, yeah, we all still die- What will you leave behind, oh, we all still die...

Wallis stuck his tongue out at his brother, glad to see that Leon wasn't being as grumpy as he had been in the last couple of months. He was still grumpier than he had been, but the younger boy could tell that Leon was trying to be amiable enough to socialize with him. Besides, Wallis had heard a rumour that Leon actually had friends. Wallis was determined to meet these friends, if for no other reason than to find out just how much good they were doing for his brother. Sure, Leon could deny it all he wanted about the idea of having them, but Wallis knew better than to assume that he'd gone his entire life without anyone to talk to. Wallis blinked as he saw Leon slow down and groan. "Oh, fer th' love o'-."
Wallis, never one for being unobservant, saw the older girl approach with someone younger, only for the younger girl to suddenly turn colours and storm away. Wallis blinked, then turned his attention to the taller girl. She said something about her sister giving him the Hogwarts rundown, which had Leon rolling his eyes, as usual. "Yer assumin' tha' bleedin' gi' Jer din' give 'im th' rundown already. 'E figured i' wos 'is duty ta play older bruv or some shite."
"I din' fink i' wos tha' bad, really."
Leon snorted. "O' course ya don'. Ya jus' 'aveta see th' brigh' side."
Wallis couldn't disagree more. Leon was far too suspicious of everyone that came around, no matter how good their intentions. Wallis figured it had more to do with where they used to live as a family than something horrible. Deciding to be the diplomat, he stuck out his hand toward the older girl. "Hi, I'm Wallis. Yer one o' Leon's mates from school?"
Leon rolled his eyes. "She ain' me mate. We jus' don' piss each ovver off." Which was about as good of an admission that they were friends than Leon was willing to admit. He didn't have much time to dwell on it, as another girl, this one Wallis recognized a bit from Jer, walked up with a question about the other girl's sister. He could already see Leon's scowl growing, and he simply gave a wave. "Jus' glad she's goin' th' ovver direction."
Another girl had joined the group, following after Caty, and after giving her own introduction, stuck her hand out for Wallis to shake. Taking it, he grinned, noticing that Leon's scowl was getting deeper by the second. He proceeded to ignore his brother, figuring that if Leon was going to say something, he was going to say it to Wallis when they were alone together. "I'm Wallis McGregor. Me bruv's th' one that's scowlin' a' everyone, an' I fink Caty an'... Di, wite? They're 'is friends."
Leon snorted again. "Yer assumin' too much, as usual." He looked like he was going to say more, but another older girl seemed to storm over and greet everyone before she shot Leon such a look that made Wallis wonder if she was somehow related to them considering it reminded him of the times Joi had scolded Leon over the summer. Leon looked unamused and crossed his arms defensively. "Wot th' bleedin' bells did I do now? I jus' go' 'ere!"

A mind as clear as a cloudless sky... No room for rust, no room for settled dust. A waning wild thrown to bygone days... No room for rust, no room for settled dust. I’m growing black mud up around my veins; And I’m going backwards, shutting out the name.

Di was pretty sure Jer was Leon's older... half-brother? Full brother? Adopted brother? She couldn't remember, but he was at least in some way responsible for the McGregor siblings. "Good on him, then," she said neutrally. "One less thing for you to worry about, huh?" What she immediately noted was that Wallis was either very positive, or just seemed that way in comparison to an older sibling who regularly acted as if a meteor was minutes away from striking the earth and all hope was long since lost. Either way, she firmly shook the younger boy's hand. "Diantha Warlow." At the disagreement over whether or not she counted as a 'mate', she simply tilted her head slightly. "Speaking of people who don't piss you off, I saw Wren in Diagon this summer with his little sister. Very sweet." She didn't see the younger Slytherin anywhere, but she was sure he'd turn up eventually, him and Leon being close.
The brunette was distracted by the arrival of Caty, who she was a little surprised to see with Aimee, and rolled her eyes at the reference to Treva. "She's- well, she had a rough summer." So had Di, but if she could avoid getting into that, she would. Her father's name had been in the papers, so anyone who kept up with the news would likely know anyway. A young girl trailed Caty over, and explained that her father and Caty's were... close to dating? That seemed awfully early for the children of said people to be getting introduced to one another, but Di didn't pretend to know much about adult relationships. Either way, the first year, Anandi, mostly focused her attention on Wallis, and didn't appear to be trying to listen in much, which was good, as Nike arrived, looking fit to be tied, and immediately snapped something at Leon, who had clearly done something to incite her fury. Di was not sure what it was, but was also very sure the ensuing fight would likely be extremely entertaining. God, she was beginning to sound like Treva. Over-exposure, no doubt.
But it’s spiraling, spiraling into something bigger- Is there something bigger? Wide awake, but I am sleeping... No room for rust, no room for settled dust. I’m lying naked, drunk and dreaming- Would it all work at all?

spaceThe first person's approach already had him on edge; Vince didn't like people, dammit, and he really ought to get a t-shirt saying so, which he would wear at all times for the rest of his bloody life if he had to. The fact that the boy's opening line was a comment on the weather of all things only made him glare. At least the older boy had asked if he wanted help, rather politely, and left it open for Vince to refuse. Which he was just about to do when another person, this one a girl, approached as well. He ground his teeth at the sudden intrusion, eyes narrowing. "I'm not having trouble with the crowd," he muttered. "I can shove people just fine on my own." Christ, the girl wasn't even big enough to help! Unless she was secretly bloody Wonder Woman or something, he would bet he was stronger than she was. Of all the stupid things to offer!
spaceAt the arrival of two more people, he very nearly screamed. It was only years of dealing with his obnoxious siblings that kept the sound from escaping. This one, at least, seemed to've approached, not out of some moronic desire to help him, and instead because she'd noticed the first well-meaning person who'd tried to help him. They must be friends, he thought. He honestly didn't care a lick about her or her brother, but the boy was apparently his age. An idea struck, and he gave his full attention to Daniel. "I'm Vince," he said. "I'm going to the train, and I don't need any help," he directed this towards Garnet and Jilly, "but I figure if we're both first years we might as well ride together. Wanna come?" Hopefully, the fact that he wasn't abandoning them all to go off on his lonesome would prevent either of the pair from insisting on helping him. And hopefully the older sister was willing to let her brother go without her. One person, his own age, he could manage. Multiple older students, he had no interest in dealing with. He wasn't used to attention, and having that many people suddenly hovering over him was already making him antsy.

𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝚜𝚙𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚛 muggleborn │ fourth year │ gryffindor
Esther came through the barrier with her sister in tow, looking rather determined. She was going to play Quidditch this year, and she wasn't going to worry over every little thing and what her parents would think. The summer hadn't been awful- she always enjoyed seeing her brothers- but it had been a reminder of how different things were at school. At Hogwarts, she didn't need to worry about Dad or Mum thinking she'd 'lost her way' or that she was any less of a Christian for carrying a wand... or wearing lip gloss.
Of course she loved her parents, and she wanted to respect and obey them, but did that mean she had to give up things that made her happy to appease them? Surely God wanted her to be happy. And there was nothing wrong or sinful about wanting to play a sport, wear trousers occasionally, or wear a little makeup, surely. She could do all those things and still behave like a proper Christian woman. Essie continued to be lost in thought as they approached the train, until her younger sister cleared her throat a little.
"I think I should ride the train by myself this year," Lydia said reluctantly, glancing around at a bit of a loss. Essie felt for her; she wasn't exactly Miss Popular herself, but she wasn't entirely friendless, and Liddie, who was usually a social butterfly, had retreated into herself last year.
"If that's what you want," she said reassuringly. "Why don't you go find some people you recognize from your year?"
The younger girl slowly wandered off, looking a bit ill at ease, while Esther scanned the crowd for Rich, or even Darian.
Every move we make will trigger another; And every small mistake will be a messenger... Our lives are weaving like a thread; Within each other, faithfully... Sharing in our joys and miseries.

✮Sєcσηɗ Ƴєαя✮RανєηcƖαω✮Rєѕєяνє Sєєкєя✮ Dris was having an issue of being both very happy and very sad about the upcoming train ride. Yes, he loved Hogwarts with a passion... but he'd also miss his family. It had been a busy summer, including getting a new cousin -that was actually his own cousin- and rescuing a very fluffy cat. The morning of the trip, Dris had packed the last few items he'd need into his backpack, then gently coaxed Lumi into her new carrier. He was glad that his dads could apparate, if only to spare a forever long drive to London. Upon arrival onto the platform, Dris said his goodbyes, enduring tsks about his being covered in paint. That morning had been loud on the news and he decided he didn't need a clean up, because he was just going to cover up with his robes anyhow. So he left his parents and sister and trekked deeper onto the platform in search of a friend. He stopped off by the train to leave his trunk, but decided Lumi wasn't too heavy, and he wanted to show her off to all his friends anyway, so he'd carry her around for now. Garnet wasn't dense, he could feel from his cynical senses that the blond boy didn't want him around, which made his polite smile disappear like a bubble. He understand that, he was used to some people not wanting him that around, but even if there was he would simply be treated as an object of pity, he thought. The Slytherin was going to say something until some girl who looked really younger on him decided to play like a Messiah and straight-up told the blond like she's radiated with sunshine and rainbows. Garnet never like those sort of optimistic people, those lot tempted him to pop their bubble with his bitter needle. He wanted to say something again, but he simply turned away and bit his lip to stay silent until Lucy came in the scene.
Honestly, sometimes Lucy indirectly annoyed him with her... lazy attitude. But, she didn't outed him and she certainly didn't drag him around, unlike Clara bloody Bautista who tried to pester him in an attempt to "cheer him up". Ugh, Hufflepuffs... They always generalize that rainbows and sunflowers can fix everything. "Hey, Lucy." He greeted with just a slight nod, but he still didn't smile as he turned to the boy named Vince, "I'm Garnet, pleasure to meet you," then he tried not to sound bitter when he told him that he didn't need his help, "Mm. I understand, I guess. Go ahead." Garnet shrugged before finally turning to Lucy, giving her a brief half-hearted smile, "Sorry, anyway um... My summer is okay, I guess. I stayed in Norway most of the summer with my grandmaman. It's all good." He shrugged before adding on, "what about you? Did you do anything Gryffindoric or something?"

Clara rushed in through the barrier with her father and her little brother Ibarra, who looked just as sour ever since the day he found out that he was magic. It was so ironic for someone who would rather want to be a squib than a wizard, but Barry has his reasons; he said that the fact that he has magic meant that he will never be a hacker like he wished to be, which was something Clara felt bad about. Poor Ibarra, he probably can't be a professional gamer of Starcraft because of that.
Ibarra glowered at the people with crossed arms, not being subtle about it. Not one bit. Their father Marcus opened his mouth as if he had an urge to scold his youngest son, but he closed it seconds later and merely shook his head out of sympathy. Their dad was somehow like that, perhaps his patience was the result of working as a psychiatrist for the wizarding community. Their mother Helena looked like she taken back by how Barry literally said that he would rather be a squib last week, since well... she is a squib. After depositing her stuff to the train with the help of her dad, they exchanged farewells before the two of them disappeared in the crowd.
Fiddling with her new necklace, she was searching through the crowd and she slowly paced around. The first person she saw was Mercy, but again it wasn't that hard to spot her bright blue hair. If she was there, that means Alby had to be there, so she counted at as a real bonus. Smiling, she simply approached the pair and blinked as she spotted a boy younger than them. Clara would love to introduce herself to said boy but her gut feeling told her that it was a bad idea. The guts weren't wrong though, Alby didn't look like he was the happiest man on earth- but Merc looked a tad cheerful as she watched her play her blue braids and slapped it at the young boy.
Nevertheless, she approached her friends and smiled, greeting them with a fingergun as if she was holding a revolver- a substitute for waving at people, "Hey-hey, you two! Can I join the party? Because looks like someone needs a dps." Then, she looked at Alby and gestured her head at the stranger boy, giving a nonverbal message of "also, who is this kid?" Normally, she would straight-up greet him, but there was just something with the boy... it's so weird.

Esther smiled brightly at the sight of Rich. She hadn't gotten to see him all summer, as she'd been busy with chores and church events and choir- she was beginning to suspect her parents were doing everything in their power to keep her inside and occupied as much as possible during the summer holiday, probably to keep her away from the magical world. Not that it mattered much, since the Yaxleys were close by, and they were as magical as it got. Even if she didn't always agree with them. She hadn't even mentioned the fact that her best friend was a boy to her parents- Dad would be fit to be tied, and Mum would work herself up into an anxious mess over Essie becoming less of a young woman or something silly like that. They were probably just worried she'd do something really bad, like date. Essie thought boys were cute, but she had no interest in dating any of them, and she certainly didn't think of Rich that way. "Hi Rich," she greeted him happily, and the cross around his neck didn't escape her notice. The blonde gasped a little, clapping a hand over her mouth in glee. "Did you really get a cross?!" She knew Rich had been... receptive to her talk of God and Jesus and what it meant to be a follower of Christ, but she had always wondered if perhaps he was just humoring her, unlike the rest of their classmates. "What did your family say?!"
Every move we make will trigger another; And every small mistake will be a messenger... Our lives are weaving like a thread; Within each other, faithfully... Sharing in our joys and miseries.
