being a water bender?

~ Aigavlov Amidatti ~

Aigavlov began clapping jokingly, letting out a slant grin along his ever blank face. ''Hoh, very nice. It's a rare chance for me to see someone use their bending in full detail...without them trying to run me into the ground.'' He muttered the last bit of this sentence with a bit of a mixed expression. With this, he grabbed the smaller, straight stick off to his side and stuck it into the log that he had opened a hole in. ''This is a useful trick you might want to remember if you ever end up in a situation like this again...'' He began rubbing his hands rapidly along the surface of the straight twig, causing it to twist and turn within the small surface of the hole.

after a bit of time, a spark finally ignited from the hole, and a slight glow was seen from the hole. Aigavlov removed the stick from the socket, and began blowing lightly onto the flames, causing it to slowly grow along the log. ''right, we can start putting the other wood around this now.'' saying this after the fire had seemed to be able to be sustained on its own. He didn't make a comment on the whole eye thing, simply because he felt it was out of his area to be questioning someone about their life extensively: ''It may sound nice, but being dogged by every single person there can get a bit...confining. In all honesty, if i had not bumped into you guys, or anyone else that knew the way back i would have gladly just camped out here. Saves me a bit of an ordeal, and gives me time to make up an excuse for being out...''He stated this in a rather bland manner, in response to Mari.

They brought out LSD to control people

Cairo couldn't help to acknowledge that this would have been much easier if one of them had been a fire bender. But, you couldn't have everything you wanted. "You know, Aigavlov, I just noticed that I usually don't see you air-benders living in the city. Aren't you guys usually monks on that island meditating all day? What's your family doing slumming out here?" He realized the comment was probably a cheap shot, but he almost couldn't help himself. This guy reminded him of his past. He didn't much care for his past.

"Oh, wow, I hope I didn't bring up anything sensitive. I just, I guess I just thought..." she stammered. She felt bad for making him blush, but something about his blush made her blush, and then she blushed for blushing. She was being silly and overthinking everything. "N-nevermind." She stared at the ground and focused on the earth beneath her feet. That stoic, unyielding earth that bent to her wishes. She breathed in the scent of grass and felt calmer.

Aigavlov took a quick shot of a glance over to Cairo, he still had a strange feeling about the guy but had no idea what was nagging him. He decided to not give the full story, since it seemed like most everyone here had their own little set of secrets and roughed up pasts. ''Ah...well its certainly not by choice that were out of the island. My family had actually been driven out from the island not to long ago,due to our own...modified... practices in airbending. Some of the elders don't take to kindly to 'Making a mockery of their ancestry'.'' He bit his lip a bit in the middle of his sentence, trying to hold back a very small amount of tearing that he usually gets when talking about the subject. Which would be a very odd kind of crying, since he still keeps his cold expression even when in tears...as it has been a long while since he actually showed uncontrolled emotions.

During this, he had finished collecting the rest of the wood and placing it into the fire, leaving a few of the longer, torch sized branches out for use of lighting for when they went on the move. He took a seat down by the fire with his legs crossed, placing his right elbow along the corresponding knee and laying his head on the same arm's hand. '' Since we had nowhere else to go, and it seemed like no one had a claim to this area..we just sort of adopted it. Outcasted people to an outcasted temple i suppose...'' He let out a chuckle, though he was not sure if it was because he found the irony funny, or the actions people took to get them as far away from the main city as possible.

Smirking at Aigavolv's mock laughing he nodded. "Hmm well then that would be a first for you" Looking towards him with a slight smile. Watching him lit a fire for them. 'Yeah he's right I should learn how to do this encase I get stranded somewhere in Republic City or some far off Island' Thinking to himself as he watched him. Hearing his indication to put fire wood he started putting it towards the fire. After he put some fire wood, he looked towards Mari. She seemed to be blushing at him, he felt his cheeks warm as he found himself blushing. She seemed to be feeling bad about her comment about his eye. Seeming to make her feel bad. Rubbing his neck he nodded. "Mari.. its cool . I just dislike my eye at times, because some people act differently around me when they see it. All freaked out or scared of it. But thanks for liking it" He thanked her, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. Turning to look at Aigavlov, he seemed to be telling about his life. In the tone of his voice it appeared that it was going from cold to a bit sad. "Sorry that happened to you man. But I think your ways might end up going into the future"

Aigavlov nodded over at Kai, he did not really want to ruin the moment with a sob story, so he dropped it there and left it for another time. He definitely wanted to avoid the details of the subject at all costs...as it would bring up old scars that he did not want to face yet even if it did mean unhealthily putting them off.

He picked himself up from his seat by the fire, and looked over to Kai. '' That's the plan anyhow, a lot of us ended up loosing quite a bit to get to where we are...some more than others. I'm one of the...more fortunate cases.'' He was obviously lying to get past the subject, but he was hoping that would be overlooked in some way. '' Well, since were on the subject of telling stories by the campfire...anyone else have something to toss into the mix? maybe something a little less filled with dread?...'' he found his own statement to be a bit pointless, as the rest of the conversation from his point of view was likely to turn into a mix of storytelling between the group.

'we may very well end up spending the rest of the night out here like this..' he thought to himself.

Even though Kai may have been secretive about some things. He nodded. "I guess I could share some things. Well umm where to start" Thinking about his life so far. His mind began to run through pictures in his head of his past. Looking towards Mari. He knew what to tell a story about. "Well you know how I mentioned earlier about my eye being an accident. When I was about 4 that was when I became a water bender. You see I was a very stupid child" Oh he could remember the times he made several mistakes as a child. "So I decided to go to a lake near by my family's home. I started water bending from the lake, shooting water pistols up into the air. I fired a few rounds. But when it started to get cold my hand clenched up a little when I fired the last pistol. The water from the pistol turned into ice shards. They got lodged into my eye" Laughing to himself abot this, he could remember the freezing icy pain those shards brung with them. "So then I was screaming and crying out, but I bended the water out of my eye just in time. My Dad came out and helped me with the bleeding from my eye. It took about 7 days for it to heal. When some days passed my eye started changing from my normal blue to this red I have now. And I guess that's the story of why my eye is like this"

''That...must have been a very difficult time for you, to not only have your own eye pierced but to be partially blind for a few days. I've made screw ups in my own bending practice...but never anything like that.'' He then began to think back onto his own bending practices, recalling the several times he was scolded by a slue of instructors and praised by his peers, and vice versa.''Then again i was constantly hounded by monks...so it was hard for me to make any physically threatening mistakes...'' he mumbled to himself, while bringing his hand up to his right eye from under his hair. He rubbed his fingers along the scarred tattoo that ran along the rim of his eye, proof of the trials he went through as an airbender. Getting the tattoo was itself an ordeal on several levels...but nothing like what happened to Kai.

Kai looked back on it as he listened to Aigavlov comment on how hard it must have been to go through that. "Once I look back on it. Yeah it was hard going through those days, without eye my left eye. But I'm glad it was only partial lose of my sight" Thanking the gods up there for making him lucky to get his eye fixed. "Then the monks are good teachers, you don't want to go through what I've been through" Warning him of how much pain it was to get his eye messed up. He was lucky that it was nothing too serious. Like losing an arm or leg.

They brought out LSD to control people

Cairo thought about opening up like the others had. It probably wasn't even a big deal, so what he was from a big family name? So what? That wasn't him anymore, he wasn't just some Jan clone. The ones who see what is convenient and ignore what isn't. He could finally quit playing around and ignoring his past. Tell Mari what she deserved to know and probably wouldn't make a big deal of. But something about telling her that, their gang that. He did everything he could to get away from his father's shadow. He became ruthless, he terrorized people. He'd been called a monster for the things he's done to forget who he was. Admitting who he was now, even glancing back to acknowledge it. It seemed like admitting guilt for crimes worse than those he'd commited. If anyone had been looking, they'd see that anguish in his eyes.

So instead he shrugged, "I got nothing. I'm in a small gang. I water bend. That's pretty much my life's story."

Mari chewed her bottom lip as she listened to everyone opening up about their lives. It was pretty brave, she thought, opening up to complete strangers right away. She felt she owed them something in return.

"Once I had this friend, her name was Neveah. As soon as I have memories I can remember her, she was like the sister I never had. We'd bicker, share clothes, gossip about boys. She's a non-bender, but she never seemed to have a problem with me being an Earth bender. I mean yeah, bending is important to me, it's apart of who I am, but it doesn't define who I am. Well, anyway, she met this boy when we were 16, and he didn't like benders. Any of them. I could never understand it. It was like not liking someone because they had darker skin or green eyes. Silly, you know? But she really liked him, and when I tried to tell her how bogus that was she would just defend him Told me he had a bad run in with benders." Mari sighed then and looked up at the sky. She didn't talk about this much. Well, ever really.

"Then one day, I was waiting for her in town, like we usually do for the weekend and she was late. Real late. Four hours later she comes up with her boyfriend. Only now there's a ring on her finger and they're engaged. She tells me she can't be friends with a bender anymore. Tells me that I'm no good, just a freak with a power to abuse non-benders like her. That people like me were just trying to boss regular people around. She broke her friendship bracelett off, right in front of me, and threw it on the ground. I couldn't even get a word in." She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes, and took a few breaths. She was NOT going to cry over this anymore. "I couldn't understand it, you know? I'd never hurt anyone. It was me. She knew me. But he convinced her that I was a demon, and she never even looked at me again. Like I was dirt." And with that, she decided, show and tell was over.

Kai looked towards Cairo. But it seemed like he had nothing to.share with the group. Nodding back. He turned towards Mari. Listening to her speak of her old friend Neveah. Hearing her mention that she was an Earth Bender, he wad alright with her. So he didn't feel the need to put up his protective wall against her. Listening to.her full story of how her old friend was really close to her, not liking benders, and suddenly get proposed to this guy. He noticed his hands starting to freeze up around till it got to his wrist. His canteen was open making him water bend the ice towards him hands, collecting the water back in he capped it. He was angry now because of that story. Looking towards her once more, he noticed that she was upset over that memory. "I hope she feels regret about losing a friend like you. Even though I've only gotten to know you for a little bit Mari. I can say you're a very nice sweet girl. That could make friends with anyone. If people like your old friend dislike you, then its their lose" Speaking the truth about what he really felt about Mari, to try and make her feel better.

Aigavlov took a bit to ponder on what Cairo said. He wasn't exactly a psychiatrist, but years of meditation and examination of human emotion, among various other minor topics, from his childhood led him to believe that there was more to his story than Cairo portrayed..Of course the look on Cairo's face when he shared his brief story told much more than his words would. ''Well...if you do happen to find something, you can feel free to share it...if you feel the need to that is.'' He had hoped that the way he worded his sentence would show that Aigavlov guessed to more of the story that Cairo told... whether there actually is, was entirely up to Cairo.

He then veered his attention to Mari's story. Taking it in deeply, she was definitely more open than most of the group...including himself. He felt a bit bad that he had hid small parts of his story to them, but he had his own reasons. Thinking over this, he actually regretted saying what he did to Cairo moments ago. If his suspicions were right, then Cairo would be in an ironically similar position as himself at this moment.

He did not dwell on the thought for long however, as he continued his train of thought from Mari's story.'' Wow...that's. I can't even imagine what its like to be in that sort of situation...My family and acquaintances are extremely close due to our circumstances. So i can't even begin...'' He shut his mouth right off from there. He realized he had been taking to much of his own life and comparing it to others, which was a bad habit of his and would tend to tick people off. Instead, he simply nodded in agreement to Kai's statement towards her and left it at that.

Cairo listened to Mari's story and realized he hadn't heard the full story yet either. He wondered how she managed to stay so positive sometimes. He couldn't even manage to live with himself sober, and she just grinned and bared her pain everyday. "Wow Ri, I had no idea that crazy stuff happened to you," he almost whispered in awe.

Mari waved her hand dismissively at Cairo's sympathy. Maybe to everyone's. "Well, much worse has happened to better people. Besides I heard she was very unhappily married," she added with a mischevious grin and sighed. "You know what? I feel better for sharing that!" she exclaimed and stretched. "Anyway, enough foolin' around! We gotta go take our new friend to the temples! We're wasting that beautiful torchlight we just built!" And with that she began walking away, which she realized was rediculous because she really had no idea where she was going, so she turned around and looked at the boys. "Uh, you guys lead the way," she said and laughed at her foolishness.

'' Yea... it is rather late...just as a suggestion, if you all wished to stay the night till morning i could arrange some living quarters for you... though you might have to deal with some cautious looks for a bit.'' he said, veering his gaze between the others. He walked over to one of the larger sticks laid out for use as a torch, and picked it up. After which he walked over to the fire, holding the tip of the stick along the flames causing it to ignite. Luckily the branch was top heavy, so it would take quite a bit of time in order for it to go out. ''Everyone grab an unlit branch, we will light a new one when this one begins to run out.'' Aigavlov walked over to Kai, seeing as how he was the only one who knew the way at this point. He held the torch daintily over his own head, as to not allow any loose flames from igniting either the floor, or the groups clothes.'' Welp, lead the way Kai...and we should probably hurry. its best to not be caught in the forest around the temples at night, since the wildlife is left... unchecked.'' He seemed to be saying this from personal experience, as there was a bit of worry in his voice. Though it was not enough to spark and real worry, but just enough to get the idea into everyone's head.

'Serves her right' Thinking to himself as he listened to Mari talk about what happened to her old friend. Indicating that they should go now, he saw him offer the torch towards him. Nodding he took it. "Yeah we should probably get going. But if anything pops out, we'll be armed" Getting up he thought about Aigavlov's invitation and nodded. "Sure if it's not a problem or burden to you. Accepting his invitation to sleep their for the night til morning came. 'I could also tell Kana about the temple so why not' Thinking to himself as he decided it was time to go. "Alright let's get going" Walking forward he held out the light. The glow from the flames really did help him as he looked in front of where they were. There was a path, with trees aligned on the sides. "That's a path towards where the forest is that leads to the forest in your estate" Kai told them the indication they were going to go in. Walking along the path steadily as he looked onward ahead.
