"They're really quite delicious." She looked over at her son and chuckled. "How about a fruit salad hmm?? You need something more than just bananas." Looking up she grinned. "He loves fruit.. mostly bananas and oranges though."

"Has Onges mommy?" He had a hopeful sort of look on his face. "Onge.. Num. Nanner... nuuummm..." He patted his tummy with a giggle.

She nodded. "Oh I'm sure they can.. Other wise he'll pick at the other fruits. He'll eat grapes.. but he won't make a piggy of himself with them." She smiled reaching out a free hand to Kadar from over the table. "Think we should spill the pomegranates on Aahlada now? or wait a little bit?"

He'd gone back to distracting himself with the wooden boat, his body language obviously more at ease around the new man. Looking up, he gave a slightly quizzical look to his mother's question to the other. What was she going on about?

She gave the matter a little more thought. "You make two very good points.. If we tell him now.. he might not take to the idea and pitch a royal fit.. but should we wait sooner or later he'll know something is up and it might scar him worse than if we were honest from the beginning.. Even if he doesn't take to the idea right away he'll grow use to it... but feeling betrayed because we tried to wait and spare him... it might just be the worse of the options..." She fell to silence for a moment. "I think it might be better to let him know now rather than later."

He was staring flatly at both the the adults now, looking at them like this was all some sort of secret code that plainly flew right over his tiny head.

Kadar was right in this. Smiling, she turned her son to see her. "Aahlada.. You like Kadar so far?" She waited till he gave a small nod. Smiling even more she continued. "Well he's asked to become apart of our family.. He'll never replace your daddy.. but.. he can be another father figure for you. So, you and your brother will be special in that you will have two daddies..."

Aahlada blinked a few times trying to let this all sink in. the wheels were turning in his mind, that was for sure. Finally he turned so he could see Kadar. Giving a small nod, he screwed up his little face. "Mmmmm... kay.." He thought he understood. Whether or not he really did was another question.

She watched her son a moment. Some how she didn't think this had fully sunken in. "For now at least.." She gave a small sigh. "I think this might come up again later.. but all we can do now is show him a happy home, right?" She hoped she was going about this the right way. Her parents had been happily married when she came about so really this was uncharted waters to her.

He gave both adults a childish grin full of mischief before he went back to his boat, his tiny tummy giving a small rumble. Every now and then, he'd glance up and watch Kadar as he played.

She nodded to his words. "It'll be good for him to have another male role model.. I fear he spends so much time with me and so little with his father as is.. that.. he might start to feel slighted as he grows older. With you there, he won't have to worry so much though." She gave him a genuine smile and gave his hand a small squeeze as their order was finally brought over.

Once the bowl of mixed fruit was on the table, his boat was momentarily forgotten. Using his hands, he picked out first the slices of banana, popping them into his mouth and chewing them slowly, all the while making small yummy noises as he ate

She couldn't help the slight smirk that formed on her face as her son ate. He was always such a noisy eater and when he wasn't trying to share messily. As her pastry was set before her, she picked it up taking a small bite. The filling was apples and cinnamon today. Apparently the cook had found a decent barrel of apples today at the market.

Once all his banana slices were gone, he started picking out the orange pieces. It wasn't long and he had orange juice dribbling down his chin.

"I thought we were going to browse around for a new place before I had to take leave to see the queen..." She took another bite of the flaky pastry. Chewing as she thought, she wondered where in the city would be the best place to start their search. "Any ideas of where in the city to start our browse?"
