Entry: 65-098 Subject: Jedi Master Zao Status: Canon Capsule:
"The war is already won or lost as the Force wills. We are all leaves blown by its wind."
One of the lesser known Jedi Masters of the late Republic Era, Zao served not the Jedi Council, but the will of the Force as he wandered the Galaxy, following his philosophy that he was, in his own words, a "leaf blown by the winds of the Force." He was and elder of the Veknoid race, and a master Chef who's food was rumored to taste in a manner that reflected the diner's Mental harmony with the Force. Despite his Blindness, he was a deadly advesary, wielding a unique creation known as a Lightsaber Cane with frightening precision.
Details of the Master's life are precious few. His Birth Date, who trained him, and when he died is all unknown. What is known, however, is that he was a longtime associate of the Jedi Master Tholme, who was in turn a contemporary of such Masters as Qui-gonn Jinn, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and the Dark Woman. He aided Quinlan Vos bring down the rogue Anzati Jedi Volfe Karkko and helped his friend Tholme locate the hidden Cloning vats of the Morgukai warriors during the Clone Wars. Despite these actions, he was rather critical of the Jedi Order. He believed that the Jedi should serve the Force and the principles of the Galactic Republic, not the Republic itself which he felt had lost those principles. He also was against the idea that the Jedi should serve as Officers in the Clone Wars, and did not participate in the war actively. During the Great Jedi Purge, he was overlooked as a beggar by trigger happy Stormtroopers on Saleucami, who were insistant on finding traitorous Jedi to kill. He disapeared into the populace, a Leaf blown by the Winds of the Force. Though forgotten by most, his teachings and belief are still held by at least one Jedi as of the Sith/Imperial war, a lesser known Jedi wanderer by the name of Link Darksun.

Entry: 9159 Subject: Lightfoils and Saber Rakes Status: Canon/Fanon Capsule:
Lightfoils
Canon: Saber Rakes, as they are known are rich and priveleged nobles of the Colonies region who have taken a fancy to the Lightsaber. While usually possesing no force aptitude, they carry and settle duals of honor with energy blades.
While they will use Lightsabers if they can find them, their primary weapon is a much weaker knockoff known as a Lightfoil. Usually showy and somewhat unpredictable due to the inferiority of the crystals involved in construction, they are still capable of maiming or killing someone. Saber Rake duals are usually conducted in a manner similar to most duals of honor. They are fought until first blood, or in this case, until someone loses a limb. Death is frowned upon for the most part unless the rivalry is very intense.
Fanon: The Saber Rake fad among nobles of the Colonies is an annoyingly tenacious trend (By the view of both Jedi and Sith). Origionating in the years prior to the Battle of Hoth, Saber Rakes continue the dangerous practice of dueling with the defective Lightfoil and whatever Lightsabers they can find. Schools of the art have even popped up to train gullible young Nobles in the "Art" of Lightfoil fencing.
The style most commonly used is a derivative of Makashi, which lends itself naturally to fencing. Some veteran Lightfoil duelers become so adapt at their weapon of choice that they can even beat Jedi Padawans in combat.
Lightsabers and Lightfoils can be easily told apart to most people by the difference in Hilt designs: Most Lightfoils are rather extravagant designs, focusing more on show than utility. Most noticibly, Lightfoils have cross guards, basket hilts, or some form of handguards near the blade emitter, whereas the vast majority of Lightsabers do not.
Lightfoil blades come in a variety of colors, all of them much darker than a lightsaber blade's brilliant hue. This is due, as stated before to the inferior construction of these weapons in comparison to a lightsaber blade. Lightfoils tap out at usually 89cm in length, and dual phase blades are unheard of.
Often times, these weapons will malfunction at the worst possible time, resulting in the blade shutting off. This possibility, however, obly makes the weapon more apealing to the Saber Rake.
Saber Rakes themselves are usually bored young dilettantes looking for a thrill and or have a passion for becoming a Jedi or Sith but lack the Force abilities to do so.
They can often be spotted by the Lightfoil or overly gaudy lightsaber they carry at their belt. Veteran fighters can be distingushed usually by missing fingers, ears, noses, or cybernetic limbs.
Jedi and Sith have nothing to fear from these fopish youths, and find them somewhat annoying as from time to time saber rakes become so wrapped up in their skills that they actually will seek out a Jedi or Sith to fight against, which usually bodes ill for the Saber Rake in question.
Imperial Knights particularly find Saber Rakes offensive, viewing them as obnoxious wanabes of the highest order. They take great enjoyment in knocking the often overly Arrogant Saber Rakes down a peg.

Entry Number: 12 Subject: Form XII: Firestorm Status: Fanon; Purely Legacy RP Capsule:
Form XII: Firestorm: Developed by Lord General Leman Calgar, Form XII combines those which were though completely separate: The Saber and the Blaster. It is fought with one Saber and One Blaster Pistol (Preferably a Transcending Reaper) The art combines elements of Makashi and Soresu for unbelievably precise deflections, supernaturally accurate shots, and deadly strikes designed to pull away defenses from the saber attacks, to pull away defenses from other blaster shots, to force angles of openings for blaster shots, or force angles for saber strikes. The Firestorm practitioner is in constant motion, even his basic stance has him moving, unlike the more static stances of the other Saber Styles. More recently, and under the advice of his pupil, Calgar included elements of Jar Kai into the style, using the Cortosis pistols as weapons in their own right, using their emergency blades in the hilt to surprise victims. The number one skill this style advances is deflection. The Firestorm Practitioner can deflect any shot, and more importantly turn it into an attack on his opponent, and even change their angles so precisely as to strike vulnerable areas, or basically put the blaster bolt wherever the warrior wants it. Some of the practice duels fought between Calgar and Seraphim had them deflecting dozens of bolts between themselves. (The most the pair ever got to was 150, and that was described as being among the most beautiful things witnessed by anyone) This styles weakness is it’s use of both hands without a second saber. This can be exploited, but the style is so new, many are unsure how. The only living practitioner of Form XII is Archaras Seraphim.

Entry Number: 516 Entry Subject: Echani (Fanon) Status: Fanon
Information: The Echani are a race of near humans (or humans, the idea is hotly contested) that are known throughout the galaxy for their excellent workmanship and deadly Martial Arts. Echani are generally tall, lithe, have very light hair colors.
Theories: The Guide’s information on the Echani is sporadic at best. Some Theorize that the Echani lifespans that average between 200 and 250 years, although some of the most powerful Echani masters can live beyond that. Their neurochemistry may also be different from a standard humans.
History:
The Guide does not have a complete history of the Echani. Most of this is gathered from hearsay and stories passed down.
The Echani’s History beyond a certain point is known only to themselves. They were in existence at least 5,000 years ago. Scattered Republic records show that they may have signed a neutrality agreement at the time. The Echani spread across several worlds in the Colony and Rim regions, forming Septs. The Echani soon spread across the mid-rim, and began selling excellently crafted weapons and technology, this much is for certain. They likely remained neutral during the second Sith War, but some of them fought in the Mandalorian wars, which some speculate is the source of the Rivalry between the two subsects of humans.
However after that the Echani probably were content to meditate upon the workings of the universe and produce ever more elegant weapons, which fetched high prices. However, in the late 2800s BBY the Echani probably purchased the worlds they were living on because most of the other inhabitants disappeared. Possibly due to some economic problems the Old Republic was experiencing during that period. The Echani did retire to their worlds, however it is unknown if the other denizens were ismply incorporated into Echani civilization, or if they left.
For some reason, the Echani’s economics slowed, and then vanished altogether. They were still in existence, however, that much is certain. It is unknown as to why. They’ve since then remained neutral.
Then came the Empire.
Palpatine himself arrived on an Echani Sept-World to either make certain their neutrality or destroy them. The Abbots negotiated, and a treaty was signed. In exchange for leaving the Empire leaving them Alone, the Echani would pledge neutrality in the coming rebellion *and* train the Imperial Royal Guard in their deadly arts. Palpatine surprisingly held to the treaty, but many speculate he had too many other troubles on his hands with the new Rebellion against his rule.
The Empire rose and fell, and the Echani were mostly ignored by the New Republic, and their worlds left untouched by many of the crises that engulfed the time period. The Reborn Palpatine was too busy crushing the upstart Republic to worry about the monks of the Echani. And the border wars were too far away for the Echani to be worried by them.
*It is believed that since about 100 BBY several Echani have been given leave to travel the Galaxy, and given the title rangers. The most notable of these is the Legendary Assassin Tal’dras Seraphim, who fought in the Draco crisis alongside Master Mordrana Brunhildt.
Then came the Yuzhan Vong. Almost nothing is known of the Echani during this period. It is unknown if any Sept-worlds fell during the invasion. The Echani may or may not have fought in the conflict. It is unknown.
The Galactic Alliance and the New Empire rose from the ashes, and again the Echani were ignored the Sith and the Jedi fought once more. The only notable thing that happened during this period was that Tal’dras Seraphim may have elevated to command of the Rangers, and more Rangers were deployed. The games of Brinksmanship between the new factions continued for many years, until the assassination of Roan Fel by Darth Krayt in 130 ABY. The Echani have still done nothing. The mystery of whatever they have been doing for years continues to stump the experts on the subject. Only the Echani know what it is they are doing…
Martial Arts: A large aspect of Echani society are their Martial Arts. Every adult Echani knows several different forms of Martial Arts, and Echani Warriors and Masters know many or all of them.
The Echani’s Martial Arts are patterned after an animal, and there are a multitude of forms in existence. A good Echani can switch forms at whim, and combat any opponents strengths and their own weaknesses with them.
An important aspect of Echani and their Martial Arts is the concept of Xi. Xi is a state the Echani undergo when under duress or in Combat that they believe increases their Pain Tolerance, Reaction Time, etc. They describe it as the emptiness of the galaxy, embodied by a person. Echani meditate for days at a time when learning how to go into Xi. However, most Masters can drop into the state at whim, and control how deep they are in it. It does show an increase in combat capabilities when they drop into it, but this may simply be a spiritual effect on their minds.
Scientists and Neurochemists theorize that it may be more than that. Their brains may release a neurochemical that inhibits emotions. This may or may not be true, and if it is, it definitely shows that Echani couldn’t remain deep in Xi for long, as it may lead to serious brain damage or death.
Craftsmanship: For millennia the Echani were praised for their excellent Craftsmanship. Echani Armorers and Craftsmen endeavor to make everything they work on more elegant, while simultaneously increasing its functionality. This is best displayed by their weapons, which are deadlier than their counterparts, and equal to their Mandolorian counterparts, but many describe them as a work of art. The Echani bring art into all of their work.
Echani society: Modern Xenosociologists theorize Echani society is quite simple. Everyone has a job (Martial Artist, Ranger, Craftsperson, Artist, Armorer, Monk, Assassin etc.) and they perform that job to the best of their abilities. The Echani are a happy people, pleased with simplicity and elegance. It is known that they are wonderful dancers and poets, and Echani clothing was very popular before they disappeared, praised for it’s lightness and it’s texture.
All Echani live in a Sept, or so it is theorized, which is an Echani settlement. It is believed that they can range in size anywhere from a small hamlet to a large metropolis. Each Sept should have at least one meditation hall, homes for all of the Echani enclosed, Martial practice areas, and craft halls. Septs that take up an entire world are known as Sept-Worlds. Few outsiders have been admitted into a Sept since the retreat, and those that have compliment their beauty and elegance. Each Sept is believed to be led by an abbot, and there is thought to be some sort of council of abbots.
There is however, a ranking system in Echani society. The following is theory only, as no contributors to the Guide know the actual system. Apprentice: One who is learning their trade Cadet: One who has significant mastery of their trade to be considered proficient in it. Senior Cadet: One whose mastery of their trade exceeds the majority of other Echani. Master: One who has complete mastery of their trade, and can teach it to others. Abbot: One who has mastered Xi to it’s utmost. Leads a Sept.
Rivalry with the Mandalorians: Nobody knows where the antagonism between the Mandalorians and the Echani started. Not even the Echani or Mandalorians know. The Echani blame it on the Mando’ade and vice versa. It can best be described as a cool rivalry, never coming to blows, but one was always trying to outdo the other. The rivalry stopped when the Mandalorians went into their Death Spiral, and the Echani retreated into their Septs. With the new Mandalorians however, the Echani do not know if they will continue the age-old feud, or if they have forgotten.
Their skills however, are comparable.
Echani of note: Master Tal’dras Seraphim: Legendary Assassin and believed to be current commander of the Rangers, Tal’dras is among the deadliest non-force users in the Galaxy. He leads the Rangers like a Scalpel, and the Echani have profited from his leadership. He has one son (Archaras) but was never officially married. His lover disappeared after the birth of his son. It is unknown whether she died in childbirth, or simply left him. Either way he was devastated and spoke only to his abbot and his son in person. He is still in mourning.
Abbot Xi: Abbot of the Sept B’ranna calls home, he is thought to be the eldest Echani alive, at well over four hundred years. If any such Council of Abbots exists, he no doubt sits at its fore.
Archaras Seraphim: Please see the Imperial Personnel Database; Legacy for more.
Master Mir’calo Seraphim: Tal’dras’ Brother, and Archaras’ Uncle, Mir’calo is a Master armorer, and it is debated over whether he is the best Armorer in any Sept. He has gone into mourning for his brothers loss, and during this period his work has been darkly elegant and unbelievably deadly.

Entry Number: 4756 Entry Subject: Starwind Staryards I-CC7 "Sparrow" Starfighter Status: Fanon
Produced by a little known Rim Based yard, the Sparrow was cranked out for service during the Sith Imperial War to serve as a fast, capable starfighter. Marketed to both sides of the war, it was ultimately turned down and ended up upon the civilian market, where it earned a following among Mercenaries and Pirates for it's speed, firepower, and low maintenance requirements.
The vessel bosts sturdy shields and an acceleration that will throw you out of the chair if you're not strapped down. The hull's not the best, but its capable of some pretty impresive maneuverability. Firepower-wise, off the line she comes with a pair of high-powered laser cannons and a pair of Ion Cannons under the nose, allowing her to run down and paralize or pulverise her opponents. She has a pair of Concussion Missle launchers with three missles for each tube, giving her some warhead punch for whatever the lasers dont kill. Starwind Staryards also gave the ship an Astromech plug, allowing the pilot to focus on flying and shooting.
How does it stack against the Crossfire and the Predator you ask? She's as fast as a predator, though not quite as maneuverable, and her weapons hit hard enough that she could down a crossfire if the Pilot keeps her away from the Crossfire's guns. So to sumarize: if the pilot keeps his head on a swivel, he can hold his own against the two more common fighters of the era.

Entry Number: 4756 Entry Subject: Verp-corp T-wing Assault Starfighter Status: Fanon
The B-wing's latest incarnation comes to us by an independant Manufacturer. Verp Corp is , unsurprisingly, run primarily by Verpines, many who once worked for Slayn & Korpil.
More than a match for the Crossfire in sheer offensive firepower, the T-wing has two linked turbolaser cannons, a pair of linked high powered laser canons, a heavy ion cannon, Four six round concussion missle tubes near the cockpit, a pair of auto blasters in the nose, and a pair of heavy barium rocket launchers with a 9 rocket magazine for each launcher. In addition, she can mount four external hardpoint weapons under her primary S-foils. Thats a lot of firepower.
Its got a decent speed for such a big craft, but even with the rotating collar system it still turns and maneuvers like a sleepy hutt and requires a two man crew to control all the systems. Thick hull and powerful shields keep it in the air long enough for it to unload a galaxy of hurt on the target, but its still a wise idea not to leave 'em unescorted.
Despite being turned down by the GA and the Empire, the Bothans have purchased a suprising number of these ships and have purchased a Contract with Verp-corp for steady production of the T-wing, assuring its place in the galaxy.

Entry Number: 0987 Entry Subject: Nubian Shipyards LS-67 "Rocket-sled" Interceptor Status: Fanon
Light, elegant, guranteed to wear well-the LS is a quality product from the Nubians. Its a blisteringly fast interceptor, capable of outrunning Predator fighters with ease and thus earning her the nickname "Rocket-sled".
She lacks in hull and shields, and she doesnt have a warhead launcher, but the firepower of her guns match that of a Twin-tail, so she's capable of taking down enemy craft.
Having only one engine, she does tend to be something of a hangar queen, requireing lots of regular maintenance to keep combat worthy. But this is off set somewhat by her advanced targeting systems and her capablity in Atmosphere. Most starfighters cant keep up with it's aerobatic handeling in atmo, something that makes this a hot purchase for Planetary Defense Forces.
She's also very pretty.

Info: The Talon is commonly considered the successor to the venerable Cloakshape or the Z-95. It is a light, relatively fragile fighter, but bears an almost ridiculous amount of Customizability makes up for it. She can accept anything from a hyperdrive to heavy weapons to missile launchers, and almost everyone does. Most generally have three Laser Cannons, two standard, one heavy, and a moderate shield generator. It is incredibly rare to see a stock Talon anywhere.
The Talon is manufactured by Incom and Subpro, in an arrangement similar to that of the Z-95, and it is uncommon not to see one in a Used Ship lot
These ships are commonly seen in the force of crimelords, pirates and rim militias. They aren’t used by Bounty Hunters too often due to their tiny storage space.
They can be seen throughout the galaxy in all uses and colors. The Talon is a completely ubiquitous fighter, like its predecessors before it.

Entry Number: 458778 Entry Subject: Aratech HT-74 Military Hovertruck. Status: Fanon
An Army moves on its stomach. This is the same no matter where you go. And thats why this particular piece of equipment is so vital throughout the galaxy. It carries the food. And the ammo, and the fuel, and the parts, and the medicne and about everything else.
The HT-74 is a durable, affordable, military cargo truck thats known for its incredible durability in the field. Capable of hauling around several tons of cargo from place to place in fairly short order, the vehicle is eqiuped with sturdy armor plating and a rotary blaster canon in an open air turret, allowing it to operate in combat contidions and even take a few hits.
The sturdyness of the design is legendary among military forces around the galaxy and for over twenty years it has reigned supreme among military ground transports. In a bewildering variety of climates, the HT-74 has operated steadily and reliably and can take some pretty impressive abuse from her handlers without a loss in performance.
This Vehicle is in frequent use among the Empire, the Galactic Alliance, and most military forces accross the galaxy. Aratech produces a variety of custom kits for it, including a sensortruck kit and both a treaded and wheeled modification kit that replaces the vehicle's sturdy repulsorlift hoverpods. Theres even a Civilian version that comes without the turret gun.

Entry Number: 38473948 Entry Subject: Kuat Drive Yards All Terrain Infantry Walker Status: Fanon
Long since the days of the Old Republic have walkers been in use. The need for a small, light, anti-infantry recon scout was never deemed necessary by the empire, and due to the failure of the AT-PT, much of the effort put forward found itself in decessication.
A revival in the need for newer ground forces has put forth a new breed of scout walker. While the AT-CT performs flawlessly in the role it was designed for, its sheer size still makes it somewhat annoying in tighter situations or stealth vehicle operations.
The AT-IW breaks into a new type of fighting, one which turns the soldier into a mobile weapons platform. Standing just over 5 meters tall, this little walker is not meant for taking on fixed platforms or anything with a shred of armor. It does, however, pack a pair of blasters on each arm which are designed to tear infantry apart. With a short recycle time, coupled with independent or linked fire, it is hard for normal footsoldiers to get a lock on. The AT-IW also has a "spray and pray" form of fire, which is capable of delivering enough firepower downrange to either mow down a large number of exposed infantry, push the assault by forcing heavier weapon platforms to take cover, or provide a wall of plasma for a needy retreat. This option bolsters energy requirements out the roof, however, making the sensor suites next to useless, the jammers pointless, and prone to overheating. Along with that, the communications have been known to be useless while firing, making calls for backup sometimes very hard to recieve.
Compensating for the heat, a pair of twin vents can force air through and cool the system down in less than fifteen seconds. These fans jokingly provide a fair amount of backwash, making supporting infantry hard to advance, due to winds kicked up. However, these fans provide another means for disguising movement, and guerilla tactics have been known to be used with heavy application. Sandy terrain and large openings create havoc on the systems, allowing infantry to disable the system quickly with a mere grenade, and mechanics still curse the dust.
It is complete with a jamming system, allowing it to disappear from active radar and forcing the enemy into combat. The sensor suite is powerful enough to relay real time data back to a commanding post and allowing up to date real time information for war strategies.
The downfall of this walker comes at its size. While it runs fast and shoots quick, it barely can take on a single standard tank, and a rocket trooper can down it in about two shots. Maneuverability and speed are pivotal in the attack, deeming it a nickname of the "falcon" due to its shape and battle tactics.

Entry Number: 458781 Entry Subject: Starwind Shipyards MN-9G "Vynock" Combat Airspeeder Status: Fanon
Starwind Shipyards' breakout into the airspeeder market, This air superiority airspeeder holds its own against much else in the air, save for a heavily shielded starfighter.
Its nickname comes from the atmosphere capable Mynock subspecies that raises hell in the Corellia home system, and it's rather aptly named.
With two high powered rapid firing Blaster cannons and and a pair of guided rocket pods, she swoops down from the sky and tears through enemy Armor and Infantry formations, then swoops away before anything can chase after her, much to the anoyance of the groundpounders. In addition, her large bubble canopy gives her an excellent field of vision, and she posseses superior maneuverability, allowing impressive dogfighting capabilities when the enemey finally catches up to her.
