Text, "Speech", 'Thought', Other

Having asked whether he could throw it, this caused a smile in response, the girl rocking on her heels as she spoke; Zurinh taking on a more attentive tone, putting more focus on the conversation than the surroundings - in before needing to do so. In not sure whether to intervene, this lack of decision paved out a lack of response on his end; while still paying attention to what was being said. Not having looked after dogs before, and not knowing a lot about breeds in general, other than that they were different, and acted differently - he hadn’t quite known what to expect, but what she said somewhat went along what he knew by general thought. Not as unsure of what to do now; despite not throwing the ball yet; which he was holding up to an extent, that would be an aim soon. What she said didn’t seem to go against what he had seen so far; playing fetch for a while - if it turned out that way - didn’t seem like much of an issue from his perspective. There was an hour until moving off to work would start; that meant some time could pass before getting ready.

At her embarrassment - realizing that was the case shortly, in her next words; he nodded after she introduced herself and Fly. Giving his own name within the following span, he let his arm down for the moment, while not enough that he wouldn’t be ready to go ahead and toss what he holding, when aiming to. “Zurinh.” Letting the fact go by that she had already mentioned Fly’s name, it apparent that she was in a rush, probably from her current tone; it wasn’t more than a few moments before she set down the rock - igneous or not - she was holding, then asking about his name and whether he was from around here. Thinking inward for a moment, his gaze drifting, he then spoke. “I’m not; I’ve been here for about a week and have a job, which could make me a local - not that sure otherwise.” Shifting his attention to Fly, hearing her bark, it took a second to remember what she probably wanted. Throwing the ball happened after a few seconds, Zurinh trying to pick a good direction before he did; aiming it at an area away from the umbrellas and various other objects lining the beach.

                                                  ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~

A sparrow; small, plump, brown and grey with a short tail and a stubby, powerful beak; fluttered whimsically over the streets of Soleil City. A sparrow was the most useful form for which Rista could travel between areas of the city.... Well, technically it was the Pigeon, but Rista was far too dignified to lower herself to the level of "Flying Rat". It was the name the common variety downtown citizens used for the bird. A none too flattering moniker for a being such as Rista. She loved flying and did so often. It was from that view that she could truly see the impact of mortals on the planet. She could marvel at the eternal balancing act between industrial innovation and natural selection.... There in turn lied the conundrum.

Rista was an amalgamation of both fey magic and humanity. She was a being with an instantaneous and unconventional origin. She just appeared. In a clearing in the woods. The nearby campers, that eventually became her parents, heard only the menacing snap of a nearby lightning bolt to wake them, but as they caught their breathe in the middle of the night, the desperate cry of a newborn baby moaned through the sensory onslaught of the downpour. They found her laying on a flat stone wreathed in morning glory and bombarded by the downpour. Her cry was healthy as they returned to their tent. The baby was completely unharmed. Once she was dried and swaddled, peaceful sleep overtook them all. So it was for her human origins.

Twenty years had passed since that day. Since then, Rista had long since realized that she was different. Gifted even. She always tried her best to hide her powers from everyone except her parents, who took it in stride with the gift they had received in their daughter. There were mishaps along the way; each a rousing tale in their own right. However, all but a few quirks aside, Rista had all but mastered her abilities to morph and control plants. It gave her the opportunity to experience her humanity in a way all unique to her own. So with one foot rooted in Mother Nature's nurtured embrace, and the other rooted in the knowledge and guidance of her human family, it was no surprise that Rista often felt conflicted about her place in the world. It had made her a stern and emotionally dry individual in the end; something to work on, she guessed.

Flying was her favorite aspect of her life. In these moments where instincts put her body in auto-pilot, that her mind had time to work out these disruptive paradoxes that tormented her dreams. That was how she had managed to flutter all the way from home in the Etoile District all the way to the Beach without realizing how far she had traveled. It wasn't a problem, as she didn't have anywhere in particular to be. She was still new to the area, and hadn't found a job yet. A day on the beach may just do her some good. Now that she was settled in at home, it was time to meet people and carve her place in this society. She began her decent towards the golden bands of sand below.

From a lower angle, she watched the beach-goers. From playing children and sunbathing women to athletic surfers and volleyball players, there was no shortage of diversity mingled about the field of parasols and umbrellas. She landed atop the shingled roof of a life guard shack with a great view. She continued to watch for a few minutes as she intermittently took pause to preen beneath her wings. For those who are not birds, the caveat to being able to fly was the seemingly endless amount of grooming and upkeep it took to maintain flight worthy wings. Each misplaced or damaged primary feather only wasted precious energy to stay aloft. And the delicate and soft down feathers!? Rista was just glad the itching went away when she morphed out of the form.

Once she was satisfied with her preening, Rista took off down towards the beach. She picked up speed. Welling with adrenaline, she dipped and dodged over peoples' heads and in and around umbrella canopies as she zipped along the beach. Each close call only exhilarated her further, coaxing even more speed as she raced along. Waves of endorphins coursed through her body, as joy swept her; this emotion was an easy one. Happiness. In hindsight the following irony would not be lost on Rista, but for now...

                                                  *CRACK!*

Just as she rocketed past her path of obstacles back out into the open, she was struck by an errant flying object she hadn't seen in time. In this form, the impact felt like a freight train. The red ball, as it happened, wasn't particularly dense but at it's velocity took Rista by storm. The sparrow crashed to the ground with force leaving a slowly descending cluster of feathers in her wake. The landing was the worst part. She felt the break of many fragile bones along with the impact, and for a few seconds she instinctively flailed about on the sand in agony before going still. It was difficult to breathe and she was growing dizzy quickly. This sparrow was dying fast.

It was important to note, that her ability to morph into creatures was complete and unforgiving. If she received mortal injury, she could be potentially killed as easily as any animal. It was up to her to identify dangers and avoid them. At a crucial moment like this, Rista had only moments to abandon the frail bird's instincts and take control of herself enough to revert back to human. If successful, she would return to normal with no injuries. It meant somehow pushing the excruciating pain to the back burner so her human mind could concentrate. She laid still for a minute or two as she focused against the encroaching fog of death's embrace. Her consciousness faded to black for just a split second before her body magically transformed in seconds from broken bird, to exhausted human.

She held her left arm over her eyes, completely blinded by the sunlight as her eyes adjusted. She was breathing heavily, fighting through the anxiety caused by the ordeal. She laid there, embracing the warm heat of the sand on her arms and back. She was unaware of her exact surroundings and couldn't see anybody through the glare of the sunlight.

Hayden had just moved to town, out of Canda, and away from the pack that kept him safe for a bit. He decided after moving all of his stuff in he should go walk around maybe go to the beach, he had never been to a beach before. Living in Scotland then in Canada he had only experienced the different country sides it offered, the mountains, hills, trees, grass that sort of thing. Hayden made his way to the beach in a tank-top some cargo shorts and flip flops. From his looks he sort of looked the type that would be out at the beach all the time, with his tan skin and his messy shoulder length hair. He walked with his hands in his pockets onto the sand and it wasn't long before he took his shoes off, finding it difficult to walk in the sand with them. He made his way down the beach and to the water, it was warm. Well warmer than what he was use to, it was sort of odd this weather was not what he was use to, he was use to colder weather, and he liked that weather being a werewolf and all. The heat was not his friend, he was like a husky he loved the cold.

Hayden watched people as they played in the sand and kids as they ran around he threw his shoes on dry sand and left his hands in his pockets as he closed his eyes and enjoyed or at least tried to enjoy himself. After a little bit he sat down with a huff and put his arms on his knees, the heat didn't seem to bother anyone else. He sighed and pulled his tank top off and threw it on his shoes, He noticed a bird of sorts flying around till it was hit with something and came to a crash land. But thats not what surprised him it was the fact that bird turned into a woman. Hayden scrambled up from his spot almost falling over in the sand and ran over to the woman who laid in the sand. He slid to a stop on his knees and looked at her a bit confused,

'Are ya alright ma'am?"

Hayden's voice had a thick Scottish accent to it as he spoke, his head tilted a little bit, he wasn't too familiar with that many mythical beings and such other than himself and some more common ones so he had no idea what she was.

"Do ya need me tu getcha any help?"

'Are ya alright ma'am?", echoed over the tingling numb she was feeling. It was now that she realized that she wasn't lying there alone.

She sat up slowly, the sand sticking to her back and arms. She looked somewhat out of place with in her red dress, but since she never planned on being at the beach, her day to day attire had been what she left home with. She grimaced for a split second, realizing she wasn't dressed for a day at the beach, despite her sparrow's enthusiasm. She wasn't so vane as to worry about the condition of the dress. No. She was worried about how much of a lunatic she seemed. Appearing out of thin air, as clumsy as they come.

"No! I'm fine." She asserted, forcing herself up on an arm as she shielded the light from her eyes to look upon the man. "It's my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going, and ruined someone's game."

She glanced about. Her eyes hadn't quite adjusted but she could see the one talking to her. He looked like the average beach-comber, but something about his gaze was hiding something of himself from everyone around. Rista's instincts tingled. She caught on to it immediately; he wasn't human. Though she didn't know for sure, fey magic existed with him and she could sense it intensity..

"My name is Rista.", she said flatly. Introductions where paramount in human interaction; she knew that much. Her eyes adjusted to a point she could see him fully. At a glance, he looked like a surfer, but his scent. It was more telling.

Hayden looked over the woman again now noticing her clothing, odd thing to wear to the beach, but hey to each their own right. He was caught off guard by her sudden responce and her forcing her self up, that he fell back a little before getting up himself and looking at the woman with a slightly tilted head. Hayden stood there bare chested he may have seemed like a pretty normal guy but he did have scars of his past, scars on his wrists that went deep. Scars on his ankles and on his neck, old school shackles will do that to ya. But the fact that he let them showed made him seemed he wasn't ashamed of them, that what ever had caused them didn't bother him, or at leas...he tired not to let that show.

As she spoke she seemed a little frantic and like she was kind of beating herself up about her crash landing. He looked at her with sort of apologetic eyes. Hayden had done something like that a few times when he first shifted into his wolf form, though it was but less graceful. He nodded a bit and gave her a smile as she introduced herself.

"Oh ye, im Hayden. Nice ta meet ya."

He gave her a warm smile as he introduced himself then held out a hand to shake which he slowly dropped a few seconds later. He looked out at the beach at where kids were playing and throwing things.

"Na it wasnt yer fault, kids like ta throw things at animals. Dunt know why but they thinks its funny."

Hayden's Scottish accent at times made him say words differently that would in turn sometimes make him sound like he was illiterate, or dumb."

As Rista climbed to her feet she took note of his many scars. Some from deep, penetrating wounds. When he spoke, Rista blushed slightly. She wondered just how long she had been staring at him. Hayden introduced himself with a kind smile and held out his hand. Rista's head tilted slightly at the gesture. It is correct social etiquette to accept as a courtesy, she thought to herself, remembering what she had read in a book. She noticed his hand begin to drop. She slowly took his hand, as she remembered.

"The pleasure is all mine.", she said without inflection, an unpracticed smile forced on her face. Her mind grimaced. Less than convincing, Rista dear. You look like a fool., she scolded herself in her mind as she held the smile and endured the rest of the greeting. When he let her hand go, Rista's expression relaxed and seemed rather unphased.

When he mentioned the kids, she remembered something else.
"Oh, of course.", she said without emotion as she looked around her near where she landed until, there it was! The red ball that attacked her. She ran the best she could in a gown to the ball and picked it up before turning back to Hayden.

"Would be best if I could return this.", she began, "Surely someone must be missing it. Only..."
She glanced back towards the seemingly randomn arrangement of people at the beach. She had no idea to whom the item belonged. No one around stood out to her immediately.
"Did you see who threw the ball, Hayden?", she asked in a sincere tone.

▻ Moon thought about his name quietly for a few moments. She could easily say that she had never heard such a name before. It was unique! “What kind of job do you have?” She inquired as she rocked on her feet a bit more. She smiled as she watched her new acquaintance throw the ball for Fly. The canine lunged after the red item, barking and yipping as she chased it through the sand, all the while sand was spraying everywhere once more. As the girl watched Fly she briefly thought of when she had first found the pup. Moon had been in a nearby town and a farmer had come in from his property to find homes for a litter of pups. She had picked the “Middle of the road pup.” Not the pup who had run up to her first and not the one that had stayed behind the others. Those who raced ahead were often the pushier types and those who hung back were shy. Moon had wanted a well-mannered pup, and that had been exactly what she had gotten.

▻ Fly sprang after the ball, not noticing it slam into a bird mid flight. Within moments the bird had turned into a human and another human had ran over to help her. Fly didn’t notice any of this and she had lost sight of her precious ball. The canine whimpered and put her nose to the sand in an attempt to track the scent of her absolute favorite toy. It didn’t take her long at all to spot the red ball in the hands of a human. Seeing it, she knew that she wanted to chase it. The dog ran over to the two and began bouncing around them, yipping and barking with an urgent sound emitting from her lungs. She wanted the ball to be throne and she wanted it now!

▻ As Moon waited for Fly to return it didn’t take her long at all to come to the conclusion that something was keeping the dog behind. A worried look came to her face. Sure, there was a small chance that Fly had run into some kind of trouble. However, Moon was worried that she was bothering someone. “I’m going to go and check on her,” she told Zurinh as she turned and hurried off in the direction that she had seen her dog go. It didn’t take her long at all to find Fly bothering a man and a woman. “Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!” She apologized to the two as she hurried over to them and grabbed Fly’s collar.

Hayden shrugged a bit at her question, not really knowing where the ball had come from, he looked around to see if anyone seemed like they were searching for it, and that's when he noticed the dog. Being a werewolf he was sure the dog would be able to notice his dog like scent. Hayden let a large smile form on his face as the dog yipped and barked for the ball. He turned to the woman he had just met and grabbed the ball from her.

"I think the owner found us."

He began to squat down when another woman approached and began apologizing as she grabbed the dogs collar. Shaking his head to her, in a manner of saying no need to apologize he continued to squat down and gave the dog the ball, then stood up once more.

"Oh no need ta apologize, he wasnt hurrten no one."

Hayden seemed like a very warm, a gentle man. His voice sounding kind and happy in all that he spoke, though some of his words might be slurred or incoherent do to his accent, he seemed like a very nice man, and animals even thought the same as most if not all animals did not shy from him, but instead came to him.

Hayden and Rista scanned the shoreline a moment more before the playful yip of a dog approached. The canine didn't have a prominent breed. Terrier to great extent perhaps, if Rista had to guess; nonetheless, the beast was a mongrel to those who cared about such pedigrees. The notion of pedigree disgusted Rista on a personal level. Her Fey-side hated the idea of human's forcefully breeding and experimenting on lineage to produce the "perfect animal". This so called science was an affront to natural selection. To unhindered evolution. This animal approaching her now made her brim with pride and what chaos and chance could muster if left to its own devices....

                                                  ...She was absolutely adorable!

Somewhat abruptly, Hayden snatched the ball from Rista and squatted nearby as the dog, and soon its owner made their arrivals. Rista barely noticed. From the moment she noticed the dog running, she had somewhat zoned out while observing her behavior. Rista's head tilted slightly and her irises began to dilate wildly. To a point that all but a thin, luminescent ring of her naturally blue irises seemed to glow around the black abyss; her gaze was transfixed on the dog. The change would be difficult to see unless one were looking closely at Rista's face, but it was apparent for just a few moments that Rista seemed far away from the conversation as she watched the dog bounce and play around.

Rista probably couldn't explain this ability in a way that it made sense to the average human, but most around here weren't average. A secondary reason she chose this city to continue her research were the rumors that there were many people with unusual abilities or natures living here; a somewhat guarded secret of society. Whether she technically had something to hide or not, it really didn't matter. After all, her "secret" was out as soon as she had to morph in broad daylight on an active beach. What was she going to say to convince them? Oh my! Did anybody else see that bird nearly take my head off!? Wow!... Well, its gone now, so.... Hayden hadn't seemed too surprised by what he saw, so she she figured she was in the clear to use her skills as opportunities presented.

Polymorph puts Rista into a trance. When in this trance, she can absorb the instincts and forms of any animal by simply observing them, and when possible, interacting with them. To Rista, the trance seems as timeless as a dream, only stretching on for as far as imagination could take her. There is a connection between her and the animal. An invisible tether of Fey-magic that is harmless, and to Rista's knowledge, undetectable by the target. In moments she is able to take on the very essence that allows that creature to exist. From that point on she can morph into that creature at will. Unlike lycanthropes and other similar variety of shifters, whose transformations can be an grizzly and exhausting affair, Rista's transposition is almost instantaneous and miraculous. A visible, cyan, particulate, energy swirls around her body, obscuring her form and changing her shape.

What seemed like an eternity, took all of about five to ten second to resolve. She was already morphing when Hayden moved to give the dog the ball. In that instance, Rista was veiled and replaced by a dog of equal size and lineage to the other. She wasn't a clone by any extent. Though they had the exact same breeding, down to every scruffy cow-lick, they were definitely two different dogs. Rista had a similar spot pattern but where she was predominately grey, Rista's fur had a subdued, ashy blonde tint. She looked, acted, and even smelled similar to the other dog.

She shook out her fur for a moment, tail wagging. Then she noticed the ball again and the one holding it in her mouth. Her owner had her restrained by the collar, but Rista didn't initially notice this. Instead, she trotted closer to the other dog before dropping into a playful bow with the other dog. She scooted forward slightly. She covered her nose with a paw submissively, accidentally scooting some sand in a nostril in the process. Rista couldn't hold the small sneeze that sent the ill-placed sand in a puff out of her snout. Still she held the pose waiting for the dog to reply.

It wasn't uncommon for Rista to become a little unhinged after adopting new forms. She would blindly follow those new instincts for a time until her human-side was able to manage them. For Sparrow, she was a bird for nearly three days before she figured out how to change back. Chances were it wouldn't take nearly that long for this. She never was able to interact with another sparrow after observing it. Not like she could with a companion animal like a dog. All she needed was to play with her for a little while and adaption would come all the faster.

There was a span before he threw the ball that followed up one of his earlier statements. While he wasn’t too certain about saying where he worked, with the concepts that could follow it - it wasn’t too much if he just talked about it outright. Tossing what he was holding went first despite that: making Fly wait much longer didn’t seem that right either. As he threw the ball, she went off at a run - towards the unoccupied space he had aimed it toward, sand flying as she ran. ...Her name sort-of fit there---? That, that it was unoccupied, didn’t remain true for long. Around the same time it went airborne, a bird - probably a sparrow by what he could see - flew in that direction; somehow colliding and falling from what he had thrown. Picking up that fact after it happened--- he didn’t move immediately, considering the setting as it was right now. After the collision, the bird had struggled for a brief span. Doing something, as they still could be alive, was his next aim; there wasn’t much chance they had been hurt that badly, but--- He wasn’t sure. Either way, his pace picked up from a stand-still for a moment, going a few paces ahead before stopping. Zurinh, looking out ahead still, saw a person appear where the bird had been: and that made him stop. What was happening, he didn’t know, though they seemed to be alright. Going by what he could tell, the person - a woman - raised her hand briefly to block out something, probably the sun. That she was either a shapeshifter or a magic user didn’t matter that much-- he didn’t know what he could do, or could say that he could do much, not having anything--- his phone--- on his person in case she was still hurt.

Instead, someone else ran up and tried to help, which didn’t seem to be that necessary. As she moved off from the sand, Zurinh blinked and looked back to Moon - the other saying she was going to check on the other woman. Letting out a brief affirmation but staying where he was for a moment, Zurinh then started off on a quick pace in that direction; not wanting stay there while someone could be hurt. From a distance, a lot seemed to happen before he eventually stopped a few feet away; between Moon taking charge of Fly and--- something odd, but not by much, happening. "Everything alright?" Aiming that question forward, he didn’t think it was that needed; but said that much regardless. With there now being two dogs instead of just Fly: the person having seemed to take on a similar appearance to her, he didn’t think he could ask much without it being too apparent by what had already happened.

Due to the damn intense heat wave, the half siren didn't really feel like going out today. She was off from work, so she could've just explored more the city like usual, but it was too hot, even for the summer loving woman like her. After a few hours, the day was slowly starting to turn into night, so the heat wasn't nearly as blistering since the sun was going away. Mi-Yeong thought it was the perfect time to hit the beach. The crowd would have been gone, and the sun would have been finally setting. To her, there was always some sort of calming effect she got whenever she watched the sun either rise or set at the beach. The sound of the crashing waves, and the soft cries from the seagulls were enough to remind her of home back in Busan. The beaches weren't nearly as nice as the one in Soleil, but that didn't mean she didn't love them any less.

As she made her way over to the beach, she decided to send a text to Vermont. Maybe he was up for watching the sun set at the beach? A soft smile crept up onto her face as her thumbs typed up and sent the short message to the tall and dark-haired male. Once her feet made contact with the sandy shore, Mi-Yeong wiggled her toes slightly, allowing the sand grains to fall between them before she carried on, taking herself closer to where the waves were rushing and flowing over the sand. The second her feet made contact with the ocean waters, the fish-fin like webbing began to appear in a light aquamarine color with gold flecks. Since there wasn't anyone on the beach at this time of night, she didn't have to worry about freaking out about her fins. After a short while, she slowly began to walk deeper and deeper into the waters until her head was fully submerged. At this point, she had a few scales running up her arms and legs, and around her ears, the same webbing that came between her fingers and toes appeared.

♛It was a regular day for the somber male, just fixing up a few things over at the bar before things could go wrong without his management, as his time was being used well in different things from work. Vermont was a considerably busy man during most of the day, dealing with paperwork and question from his workers, as a new type of system was being applied to their whole organization. See how it would pan out, what needed to be improved, that kind of thing. It was on by the end of his shift that a message came through, his phone's screen glowing amidst the dim light of his office with Mi-Yeong's name shining on the pop-up. Scanning through the contents of the message, a faint smile crept through his face, an amazing thing as some joy was able to penetrate all that gloom and considerable stress with only a mere invitation. Once all things were set, checked, finished, all business, the manager left his work and went straight towards the beach area, stride fast to reach his desired destination as fast as possible, meet with the sole one he felt a thing for.

Strangely, by the time he arrived, the beach's scene was clean, not a soul in sight. The man scratched the back of his dark haired dome, glancing around with those ghostly orbs, the breeze comfortable as the search for his interested continued. After a few seconds, perhaps minutes, the top of a head could be found in the middle of the waves, recognizable to the vision of this cold individual. All he would do was wave to the marvelous siren, from afar, hoping she would see him standing there in fast enough time. All this, unaware of the transformation occurring with her physically, his human mind still not completely used to the fact supernatural creatures of various ranks of power existed, walking between people and having their fun like regular people.♛

The light swim that she took was pretty relaxing. She knew that the sea was always a good way to calm her nerves. For a little while, the Siren had kept herself afloat on her back, the waves slightly rocking her body as her eyes stared up into the gradually darkening sky. She was almost lost in her own thoughts until movement from afar on the shore caught her attention. Looking over, she saw a waving figure - Vermont! He was finally here! Mi-Yeong was genuinely glad that the busy bar manager could even make it. She knew how hectic a bar could get sometimes, so she could imagine the workload that came with managing one. As she was about to swim back to shore, however, one of the waves grew a bit larger than the normal calm waves and crashed down onto the unsuspecting Siren. It wasn't the first time it happened to her, but it was still surprising to say the least. Good thing she could breathe underwater, too!

Getting pulled under, Mi-Yeong had wrestled with the current and the movement of the waves over top before the sea had spat her back out onto land. Of course, she just had to be covered with thick layers of seaweed. The woman honestly looked like something pulled out of an old-time horror movie. With webbed and scaled hands and feet, along with the "fins" that adorned her ears peeking out of the marine vegetation, it was a bit of a scary sight. " ********' hell...! " Those were the only words the poor Siren could muster as she peeled off the seaweed with the look of disgust and embarrassment on her face. That...certainly wasn't a very attractive greeting. Good thing no one else seemed to be around either. Long-lashed eyes darted over to the male before her, an awkward smile showing through the seaweed that had dangled in front of her face. " Heh...Hey, V...! "
