Why don't both parties offer an apology(hopefully heartfelt) and just forget this ever happened? Everyone makes mistakes and it should be alright as long as you recognize them, as hard as it may be.

I vouch for open-mindedness, it'll help a lot with these occurrences.
(I've had this happen before to me, I know what I'm talking about)
