Oh dear. Orielle, I must apologize; I feel partially responsible for the large amount of people attempting to swamp you with art trades/requests. Woops. sweatdrop

Hey guys, I haven't been here in a while now.. School work and real life is eating up all of my free time at the moment, plus my computer is still kapoof.. Soo I'll have to put all trades and requests on hold for now. School will finish in only two weeks though, so hopefully things will get better then.
In other news, I got accepted into one of the schools I applied to! It's not in art though, but International Development Studies. And the best part is that the first semester is in Vietnam! So I will be moving to the beautiful little town of Hoi An in August. biggrin
I have to run, but I'll try to come back and look closer at the previous posts here some day soon.. heart

Congratulations Orielle! *hugs* I hear complete immersion is the best way to learn languages anyway.

Thank you! mrgreen
I tried to learn some Vietnamese the last time I was there, but damn it's difficult! With eight tones or so, it's almost impossible to hear the difference. For example there is a marked in Saigon that was called something like Cõchìn. But if you asked for the Cõchín marked in stead, it actually meant 'the p***s marked'. Appearantly the taxi drivers had a lot of fun with that.. xp

Ahhh, yeah, I can imagine it would be pretty hard. I've heard if you're completely immersed in it though, like several hours of lessons per day for a few weeks, and then everyone around you is speaking it, sometimes you're able to pick it up faster. But then again, I've never heard of it being done with a language such as vietnamese.
