(temporary) star trek reboot (since gais's being weird)

Zepatos and the security gaurds followed in after her, though Zepatos shepherded them over to the door so they weren't too intimidating/ he hung back a little, seeking to help uhura but let her do her thing.

"It's alright," Uhura repeated. "Friend-remember?" She copied Jinx's gesture for friend from earlier. Jinx watched-her tail slowly thudding against the floor in a steadt beat. She slowly raised her hands and did the same hand gesture.

Uhura nodded with a friendly smile and waved her over. Jinx was reluctant at first, but slowly inched her forward with glances to Zepatos to make sure it was alright. Then Utura made hand gestures to go with what she said next. "May I look at the armbands?"

Jinx glanced own at the devices and then looked between Uhura and Zepatos. She point to the armbands. "....out?...." Which for her meant off.

"maybe." Zepatos said, shrugging.
"out soon. But not now." he smiled in encouragement and crouched so he was on level with her.

Jinx's ears twitched and she circled around Uhura with occassional sniffs. Uhura repeated what she just said and tried to get a glimpse at the device.

Jinx obviously still wasn't grasping the meaning as she crawling and sniffed at Zapatos.

Zepatos laughed a little awkwardlya nd then tentatively patted her head like he would a pet. he then inched down to her waist band and gently held her wrist.
"can I look?"

Jinx purred at the gentle head pat but tensed when he took hold of her wrist. "...ook..." she tried to repeat.

Uhura watched on and nodded to Jinx.

"yeah look." Zepatos smiled and gestured for Uhura to come over and examine it herself. he wasn't exactly sure what he was looking at, though it was familiar.
"yeah, a slaving wristband. must suppress her power somehow... but she isn't exactly weak now, is she?"

"Which makes you wonder how strong she really is," Uhura replied looking over the device. "Doctor McCoy might be able to remove it."

Jinx started playing with Zapatos hair and purred. She started licking it as if giving him a bath. Uhura held back a laugh. "I think she likes you," she commented.

"ew.." Zepatos tried to resist wincing away form her licking his hair, in case he offended her. "i can't see why she would." he grunted. Technically he was responsible for her being here, and he didn't think of himself as particularly charismatic to her.
he looked at the wristband again.
"True....well,maybe if she trusts us enough it doesn't matter how strong she is?" he suggested. "I mean, so long as she doesn't attack."
he looekd to jinx and got her attention.
"Jinx, you can go out. But you have to be good. Calm. Nice. ok?"he smiled and then stroked her hair. "do you understand? Be good?"
he gestured to everyone.
"friends. we're all your friends."

Jinx paused in the bath giving. "Jinx....out?" she said looking at the door. The rest of what he was saying was lost to her. Her tail snaked on the floor and her ears twitched. She crawled over Zepatos's leg and crept up to the door but paused when she looked up at the security at the door. "Jinx out," she said again and looked back at Uhura and Zepatos. "Jinx out."

"Yes, in a little while. First - Jinx, are you our friend. Jinx is uhura and Zepatos' friend?"
he stresed that it was a question.

"....Jinx....friend...." Jinx said as she paced back and forth. "Jinx friend." Then she slinked up against Uhura and Zepatos in a friendly manner like cats do when they want to be petted.

"maybe we should let her out. If she behaves herself we can take the guard off her." Zepatos suggested.

Kirk listened in over the communicator, leaning on his hand again and wondering what Uhura woudl decide. he woudl probably allow her release if she wasn't a threat and the security kept closeby.

"The captain said she was to remain in the cell," Uhura replied with some conviction in her tone. Then Jinx slinked back up to her and purred. "Jinx....friend.......Jinx......g.....ood," she purred and started giving Uhura a 'bath.'

Uhura tensed and kept her eyes staring forward. "I....I....um-captain?" she stuttered.

Kirk could hear Zepatos laughing in the background, but had no idea what Jinx was doing to provoke that reaction since he could only hear them.
"Alright, if she's more co-operative then we can let her out if she's accompanied by maximum security. It should give us more chance to study her behaviour and perhaps we can get a computer program ready to help her speak. her wristband stays on until we're sure she's friendly and can understand us."
