Steelix would once again be slapped in the face with his own tail, the motion feeling similar to a slap on the wrist, but with insult to the injury in it being his own tail that was the slapee. This is probably where some people's pokemon would fly into a rage and use a move without being told to do so, and the likelihood of Steelix doing so was amplified by the intensity of his Mega Evolution, but Steelix was a pro. He'd been in the majority of Jasmine's fights, and knew how to control itself and its emotions, even in the heat of battle.
Fortunately, Jasmine was of a like mind and asked him to do the exact thing he wanted so to do. "Oh, dear. It seems that direct attacks will not work against this foe, Steelix. A shame, but I feel that ranged combat is the best strategy here. Please, use Rock Slide this time."
Smirking malevolently, the Steelix would slam against the ground, triggering a trap in the ceiling that would drop multiple rocks that Steelix could use Rock-type energy to control, forcing each of them to drop on Poe's head. Should the Sableye try to dodge, the Steelix would focus his energy to have the rocks follow him, as if they were homing missiles. That's not to say Sableye was doomed to be hit, however, as the move was still somewhat slow. The chance to dodge would be amplified when Steelix, despite his deep focus, was suddenly hit with an odd bout of dizziness which would send the rocks every which way. The dizziness would fade as soon as it came, but by then, the attack was done.

The dizziness would fade as soon as it came, but by then, the attack was done. Both Sub and Poe would see the opportunity presented to them as the Mega Steelix appeared disoriented, surely still reeling from the Confuse Ray earlier. Not wanting to let the chance go to waste the Dark One was quick to exploit it. "Poe, dodge what you can and use Recover!" The trainer commanded his Pokemon. With fiendish glee the Mega Sableye would toss its large gem high into the air with surprising strength. Once the gem was airborne the little imp would do its best to dodge the incoming flurry of rocks. While the Mega Steelix's dizziness did make dodging the bulk relatively simple there were still a few rocks that made contact, Poe getting pelted a few times. All while Poe dodge as much as he could, which was a decent bit, his gemstone would glow brighter and brighter as it tumbled through the air. Once the iron snake's attack ended Poe would land on the ground right underneath his massive gem, catching it with a happy grin on his face as the glowing energy contained in it passed onto him, the Mega Sableye recovering a large chunk of its health and boy did he need it, if a few more rocks had made contact he would surely have been taken down. Thank Darkrai they confused it earlier.

Jasmine gasped when Sableye's health recovered, but the reason for her gasping was because she had no trouble seeing it - the Sandstorm that Mega Steelix whipped up against Sub's Malamar had finally faded. Jasmine could already feel Steelix's desire to bring it back, but she refused. "No. We can't keep using Sandstorm like a crutch. We have to finish this using our own power. Give it a taste of what took down its friend, Steelix. Use Dragon Breath.
Steelix roared, and inhaled deeply before exhaling a fog of Dragon-type energy.

Sub could be seen smiling once the Sandstorm faded, pretty happy about the grainy gale being over with. "Poe! Dark Pulse!" The man ordered, pointing up for some reason, his Mega Sableye seeming to know exactly what he meant as he grinned and nod, turning back around to face the incoming Dragon Breath. The dragonic energy would consume Poe without fail, the imp disappearing into the attack. As the 'flames' swept over the Dark-type his gigantic gem would coming shooting up out of the Dragonbreath as Poe tossed it into the air. Once the tumbling gem reached its highest point it would unleash a spray of pulsating rings of Dark-type energy down upon the Mega Steelix from above, the Dark Pulse aimed to come crashing down on its head as it attacked its sender.

Steelix did the best it could to avoid the waves of dark energy, wiggling its massive body this way or that, as if trying to execute a serpentine evasive maneuver. But it couldn't avoid getting hit entirely, and with the damage it had taken up to this point, he didn't have enough energy left to keep going and wound up fainting, it's Mega-Evolved form fading away as it lost the last of its strength.
Jasmine recalled Steelix and made her way down from the battle arena, walking around it to get to Sub. "Thank you for that battle. It was quite fun!" Jasmine smiled. "Here, to celebrate your victory, please take this Mineral Badge." Jasmine would hold up a Mineral Badge in her hand for Sub to take.

Sub would smile happily along with Poe as the Mega snake writhed and eventually reverted back to its less-than-spectacular form. Victory goes to the Dark One. Once they were sure the Steelix was defeated Poe would revert back to his original form and turn around to greet his trainer with a high five, which Sub met with equal glee. Once their mini-celebration was through the man would recall his Pokemon and take the Mineral Badge from the gym leader. "Thanks, I can now see your reputation is well earned." He complimented her as he stashed the badge away. "I'll be sure to give you a shout out when I become the next champ." He laughed before shaking Jasmine's hand and after a wave at the door the Dark One would set out for the next gym in Mahogany Town, he couldn't wait to face the teacher of his good friend Blizzard. This would be fun.

At one point from Sub's departure of the Olivine City Gym to the Mahogany Gym, Pryce would receive a call from one of the gym leaders ahead of time. In his usual stoic nature, nothing came to him as a surprise, not even the so called contender that was about to challenge his gym soon. "Yes...yes...I know. I was told about him by Blizzard."
"....."
"According to him? No, he didn't. He lost. Sub's apparently the leader for a reason, though I am told that the battle between them was rather close. Really, according to Blizzard, beating him was the reason why Sub was taking this excursion in the first place. Though, Blizzard thinks its just for his own ego instead of any self improvement."
"....."
"I suppose we'll see when he gets here." He said. With a few more words, the wisened gym leader hangs up the phone on his desk in his gym office then turns around in the chair to look out to the icy courtyard at the back of the gym through his window. He then looks over towards a close by shelf, looking past the various achievements, awards, knick-knacks, and so on, only to look on a picture of himself and his apprentice when he was still human, and next to it another one of himself and his apprentice, only the apprentice was the Articuno hybrid all would know with a date...seems to be taken a short while before Team Snagem was thought of to fight against the rangers. "To take you out, he surely must be formidable, ego or not." Pryce said as if his apprentice was still there with him. "I believe some planning must be done..."
Pryce would leave his office and began making preparations for the time Sub would arrive.

"So this is Blizz's old kicking grounds, huh?" Sub said as he stood just a few feet away from the Mahogany Gym's entrance, just enough so that the automatic doors didn't register his presence and open. "Man, how low do they keep the thermostat? I can feel the cold just a few feet in front of the door and it's the middle of summer!" He continued, loud enough so that those passing by could hear him, probably on purpose. Without another word he stepped forward, the doors parting open as he did. As soon as the doors parted a chilling wave of cold air swept over him causing the man to instantly shiver. "Screeew that!" He said in protest as he stepped back so that the doors closed. No way could he handle that cold and battle the second strongest gym leader, at least not completely focused. Was a little cold really going to stop his journey? "I got this." He said to simply, immediately running towards the PokeMart. ----- "Hey! Cold One senior! Sub is in the house and looking for a battle!" Sub declared as he returned, now dressed in a thick Piloswine fur jacket and matching boots. Hopefully the PokeMart clerk didn't realize he swiped the gear before his battle was over. Despite how cold it was in the gym he was way overdressed, humorously so, but he didn't care, he was warm and ready to battle.

He looks towards the entrance to the battlefield...though unlike Sub, the senior was dressed in his more casual wear instead of his more outdoorsy, more formal wear of a overcoat and scarf. In this case, it was a striped T-shirt, shorts, and sandals. "...you must be Sub." Pryce said, standing up for the moment. "...um. Not...what I expected. Are you daft? It's summer. Why are you wearing that?"

Was it just him? No, couldn't be, this was an Ice-type gym after all. "...because it's cold in here ...to me...I think." Sub said, mumbling quieter and quieter as he became increasingly unsure of the temperatures his body was sensing. Maybe he had been drinking too much tea after all. "Never mind my outfit!" He shouted, trying to reassurance himself that he was still sane (Ha. Ha.) and it was indeed cold. "Don't know if my old pale Blizz has told you about me but my name is Sub. If you have heard about me then don't believe everything you hear." He chuckled. "Either way, I would like a battle."

Pryce said to him, making his way over towards the gym leader position of the battlefield. "Victory achieved by party wipe or surrender. Clear?"

"If you're anything like Blizz then I won't have the luxury of playing around. I'm going to need to break out the big guns from the start." He said with a cocky smile as he prepared to toss the ball but before he could a beam of pink energy came exploding out of his pocket and hit the field, the energy materializing into a certain green feminine creature. "I wanna battle Blizzy's grandpa!" Gardy telepathically cried out as she appeared, the Gardevoir making some exaggerated 'karate' movements as she prepared for battle. "...well there goes any attempt I had at making a good impression..." Sub sighed, putting his Dusk Ball away as he resigned to using Gardy. "I apologize in advance for my Pokemon, that's all I'll say."

"I apologize in advance for my Pokemon, that's all I'll say." This was going to be a long battle, the veteran gym leader thought to himself. Its only been two minutes and already this has reached levels of weird he hasn't seen in years, and he had the feeling this was only the start of it. "Very well then." Pryce said, looking on at what he had to contend with. A Gardevoir. While he was very well familiar with this Pokemon thanks to his apprentice being known to have a couple in his possession, this caught him a little at surprise, due to being told that Sub did favor Dark types. That said, he was also told that he was like his apprentice that he didn't limit himself to them when it came to it. This must be such an occasion. The old man pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it out on the field. "Froslass, come on out!" Pryce calls out. The Pokeball lands on the icy field and from a burst of light comes a Froslass. Unlike his apprentices, this one was considerably more composed, not giving out any sort of ghastly cackling wail upon exiting, but instead a bit of a twirl, being as lofty and graceful as a winter's wind. "Froslass, Hail!" Pryce commands. "Laasss!" The ghost calls out. Winds started to kick up in the gym, and amongst all logic, a hailstorm started to bombard the field.

Blizzard120 "Laasss!" The ghost calls out. Winds started to kick up in the gym, and amongst all logic, a hailstorm started to bombard the field. Both Sub and Gardy would wince as the hailstorm was conjured up, bits of ice pelting them both except the trainer was a little more prepared for this than his Pokemon. "Ha! I knew I wasn't crazy for dressing up like this!" Sub declared, thankful that he picked up this thick coat as he pulled it up over his head to protect himself from the hail. "Gardy, I need you to be completely focused for this battle, no craziness. Use Calm Mind." The Dark One ordered his Pokemon, he needed a calm Gardevoir right now, not one that is borderline insane. With an annoyed sigh the Gardevoir would reluctantly agree to the attack as she begrudging closed her eyes and put the palms of her hands together as she began to focus. A cool wave of light blue energy would sweep over Gardy and become absorbed into her body, not only increasing her Special Atttack and Special Defense but also settling her usual hyperactive mind, for now the Gardevoir was calm and ready for battle. "Voir!" Gardy shouted, with her actual mouth for a change, as she opened her eyes and stared down her opposition, her disposition now completely changed, the Psychic seeming far more serious than before.

If Sub thought it was already justified to dress for winter early, he hadn't seen the worst of it yet. Despite it, however, Sub actually fell for a little trap. "Froslass, Psych Up." The Froslass gave a icy, piercing gaze towards the psychic Pokemon, a blue light overcoming the icy Pokemon then settled into the Pokemon and enhancing its special capabilities.
"Laaaaasssss..." The Pokemon spoke up.
