Zac Bantock: Interested in Principle
“Yes, I can do it if we need.” He nodded, though he wasn’t sure casting sunny herself into the seal would work as well as people hoped. He had other ideas that he hoped weren’t awful.
With the pendant in the spell already, he wasn’t sure if they’d need a whole foot, or hand… but he was willing to offer at least. He thought a finger would do if it came down to it. You didn’t –really- need a pinkie finger, right? It would hurt, it would hurt a lot, but there was so much that rode on this.
Sunny returning to Sanity, saving her, god if he could save her, save someone he’d…
If he could save someone he’d die for it.
He believed in the tree. He believed in growth, in deep roots and reaching towards the heavens towards something greater. The branches of trees that could offer fruit, and even healing if you had the right tree. They needed healing. He believed in the trinity knot, the symbol that meant not only balances but also control. That was something they needed, everyone and everything needed some form of control. But even with control he believed in freedom. He’d been raised in that thought, that freedom still needed laws, or it was nothing more than anarchy.
Growth, Control, and freedom, to constrain the magic lest it corrupt, but to let it grow, change, shelter and perhaps heal.
He didn’t want to see anyone else die for this; they already broke the cage, when it came down to the bare bones of it.
Not even the enemy, he was tired of other people dying. He knew people believed in what they had done, he knew Jeremiah had, and Shun as well, but it had cut him off from the man who very nearly raised him, and – well, after what happened in the Ball, and knowing what happened to Heliodora.
Maybe it was terrible in it’s own way. But no, he’d rather sacrifice himself, then see people sacrifice anyone else. He wished he could have gotten her home, but he had offered to replace her once before, and earned nothing more than a strange stone in his hand. He had to try, for her sake, for Sunny’s sake. For all the people he cared for.
As for ‘the fourth principal’ – well, he might be odd in that regard. He thought of the stone. The strange glowing rock that had been in that box, if Renard, or Sybil, had thought it important enough to use to cast a protection spell, maybe this was how everything had gone to heck in the first place, and yet….
He traced his blood into the pattern, and prayed.
Sh1brogane Trying for Principal Roll – Zac – Bleeding Heart, Martyr. Principals: Alexis: Feral, aggressive, and Temperance: Healer and Determined, Fourth Principal: The glowy rock… cause why the f---k not. Evidence seems to point that this may be a… not so bad idea IDK.

Shun Kuroda - Principal maybe???
Well s**t. There was Renard himself.
"Oh ******** off Renard," he muttered before vanishing briefly to reappear right where the sigil had been drawn.
Now or never. He glanced at each of the others briefly, thinking about this situation as a whole. Over all, he couldn't really say he liked any of this. While the sigil and intent were different from what the original trio were attempting, a small part of him couldn't help but feel that this was just more of the same thing.
But repairing the world came before defeating the Enemy. And given how the Enemy was now in the ******** room, it was entirely possible that the two pieces were interconnected.
It was just hard to tell what the outcome of all of this would be. And he hated that. It was difficult to calculate such things when he barely knew the meaning of the variables and what they controlled. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to try his damnest. There was no way he couldn't try to fix this. Not after having taken Heliodora's life. He was obliged to do everything he could to ensure things turned out alright in the end. Could this possibly royally ******** himself over in some way? Certainly. That has never stopped him in the past, though. Not once he had his objective.
Do what must be done. By any means necessary.
He set the pendant down where Eve mentioned. If the rock was no good, as Leila pointed out, then they at least had their backup focus. A blade made of pure shadow appeared in his right hand and he made quick work to start drawing his own blood carefully to add it to the sigil. His fingers twitched from the spike of pain that accompanied this, and he closed his eyes to begin focusing.
It wasn't long ago that he could barely do anything with magic. But perhaps Jeremiah's intensive training could be put to work here. This might not have been the same vein of magic, but it was magic all the same. The basics with how to get things to work was still there.
And so he began to pour himself in, thinking hard on what he wanted from this. To bring balance back to the world, to seal the tears in the very fabric of reality. To allow life and magic to grow, but hopefully not uncontrollably. Freedom and restraint in extremes wasn't good. Order and chaos both had their place in the world. He tried to focus this towards Sunny, not Renard.

Temperance Clark - interested in principal
I don't want anyone else to die, she thought. Temperance amended it to be unnecessary death - the magic here felt like it was listening, and everything died eventually. She watched Veronica trace the symbol, burning each one into her mind's eye. The black Sharpie squeaked along the floor, each line coming to life in thick strokes. This was it.
The tree: life-giver, growth, the ability to change and mature and become strong enough to weather any storm. The knot: trinity, cohesion, magic. And the keys with the ability to unlock potential, to open new doors, myriad choices hanging in the branches. She braced the knife along her arm and cut without hesitation. It hurt, of course, but she knew were to cut to bleed and not bleed out. This wasn't a dangerous cut, but a useful one. Quickly, she cleaned the knife. There was always enough time to sanitize. She wished she had a lighter. Then, pressing one hand to her arm, she knelt by the sigil, ignoring Renard as best she could.
Temperance traced a knot into the tree trunk, her blood wet and sticky. The feel of it made her sick. Sunny was the focus; she was magic incarnate, bound up in this, in everything, the air they all breathed - the fourth. The tree to shelter her, the keys to guide her, the knot to sustain her. She swore she heard the wind rustling through branches and then it was around her and apart of her. Like the dancing ribbon from before, it was just out of reach. But Temperance took a deep breath and concentrated. She felt it coalesce, coagulate, spatter onto the ground like old blood, jellied and useless, thick with disuse.
Fix, she though hazily, grow, possibilities. The words strung themselves into a sentence in her mind, always centering on Sunny as if she were the sun. Temperance hoped this wouldn't turn into some kind of Lord of the Rings thing. She just didn't want to have to watch as someone else died. Another person she couldn't save. Some things were fixable, some weren't. She wasn't strong enough, but she tried to pour all of herself into this. The blood began to dry.
shibrogane Sunny is the fourth. Mission: Fix the damages that were done and encourage healthy growth and the realization of possibilities. Nominating: Zac (endejester) - the knowledge/matyr, Alexis (daekie) - the power/wildcard.

Temperance kept one hand on her blood, feeling drained. She looked up at Rabbit and offered him a weak smile. "Of course. I'm sorry - this will hurt a bit."
The clean knife was drawn carefully along his skin - the side of his forearm, not near his wrist. She wished she had gloves as, inevitably, his blood would get on her. More and more blood spattering, dripping, running down arms and fingertips and... She blinked and, methodically, cleaned the knife.
"Let me bandage you after, Rabbit - okay?" Her gaze was a little distracted, as though she wasn't entirely in the moment.

America Jones is up for being a principal
The door opens but America is already focused on the sigil. Holding her arm out to Temperance with a warm, trusting smile, she accepts the wound. Everything worthwhile has a cost, after all. The world wasn't a charity and America, even if she could be kind, was not a charity, either.
Was this worthwhile?
"If anybody needs help, take my hand and I'll help you pour your magic in til' it's fit to bursting," America's voice sounds distant to her own ears.
She doesn't close her eyes this time, the feeling and scent of the symbol now fixed strong in her senses. She's here for Sunny and that's worthwhile, Sunny of the beach, of fishing through waves of magic and keeping her safe from its tides. Of late night texts and translating for scowling birds and early morning visits full of familiar pastries and muffins and shoes scuffing shyly on the dock. She jumped out of friendship and the cause has grown so much larger than that, but if asked, she still isn't here to change the nature of magic or cage some great enemy. She's here for the friend who once said, "I've been to prison. It wasn't that fun." The girl who, frienzied and broken and powerful and free...also looked lost and so very young confronted with it all.
Sunny was more than worthwhile, and America would pay whatever she was able, whatever could be given as long as it was hers to give.
She thinks on that friendship more anything and believes in it, she has always believed that Sunny is the good part of magic, and even now she still believes that. She's thousands of years old and those roots gotta go deep and how has she stayed sane? How does she still find moments of joy and curiosity and love after so many thousands of years?
Innocence,creation, wisdom.
It's a good place for them, isn't it? What better way to grow in this world, to love this world? And grow and grow and grow, but be guided by those three aspects until they're at the precipice of freedom once more, and it's nothing frightening, it's nothing destroyed. It's not a hole in the world but a path leading through it.
Growth, guidance, freedom : to allow magic to more naturally be part of this world.
As she bleeds onto the sigil, America's magic blooms out from her, coaxed and coaxed until she's stretching past her limits and then focuses it all down into her blood and the symbol beyond it.

Leila Townhome has a principal agenda
Conversation went back and forth, back and forth, panic alongside the comforting rhythm of ritual and the cringing unease of flesh being cut and blood spilled. As she viewed the sigil, her internal monolog spun away inside her head like herself in professor mode, stalking back and forth across the classroom or lecture hall.
"So are we supposed to- to focus on the whole thing at once, or..." She was muttering at no one in particular to fill space. This was that 'do what comes naturally' part of witchcraft and real magic she always had so much trouble with. It felt like what mattered was putting something of herself into the sigil, and why, and ******** semantics. Semantics were for soil ecology conferences.
Leila figured enabling the Multitude to be connected to this could only help. They were ancient, knowledgeable. Could her blood alone represent them and allow them to pour some of their will into this? Maybe if she kept the thought in the back of her mind. She would have two familiars when her warg training was complete, something no one had in common with her as far as she knew. Maybe that would count for something too. She wanted every bit of her that was different from the others, magic or otherwise, to go into this.
This was really no time to continue ruminating, though.
Start there. At those roots... flowing up and outward, becoming branches and leaves. This visualization played and replayed through her mind as her terribly trembling hand was steadied by Eve's so Temperance could pull it through flesh, so awful but so easy. The pain and the sight was nothing compared to being eaten alive, but the fact she was doing it herself, on purpose, for a reason... that froze her insides.
Her familiar-in-training was too far away for any chance at checking in with her, but she offered Friend space for a thought while giving her tribute. Thoughts could mean everything.
Reconciliation and growth, then freedom: Allow magic to develop naturally and benignly alongside those who may use it.
Blood tapped down into the design, and the whole sight and sound of it felt so boring compared to what she would have expected. These moments were supposed to be moody montages with deep orange candlelight and mood music; instead they all sat around and waited their turn like they were passing around the potatoes at a potluck.

The loud hum from Marcus as he was snapped at was matched with his exhale. It was lackadaisical sound, and his gaze rolled over to Alexis with an expectancy that he had more to say than a general dismissal.
When none came he gave a shrug. He thought in tangents and knew he did. He was still wondering if this was reality and if he was going to walk away from this like last time. Wondering where they had gone wrong, and where had they gone right. No one ever was entirely one way or another.
America got perhaps the most clear answer Marcus could offer. "I'm quite bad at that Jones. And thank you Miss? I'm sorry, it's a poor time for introductions, but yes. I'm not the best at-" his head turned towards the door then towards the woman who was showing all said spoken down, "-all this. I would prefer being home, safe. Ashdown was, is, my home, a place I thought safe but now?"
The thought was left unsaid. He was uncertain if Ashdown could be even seen as remotely safe anymore.
The door was given his focus then, more a curious fixture than anything. Zac was heard as were others then finally, as everything started to, (in his eyes at least), reach a point of fixation, Marcus sat himself down.
"I made a promise." Blue orbs changed to silver as they looked pointedly at Zac. "I keep my promises. As I said in the cafe. She exists. And that is all I need to know. She is cared for and she exists so I will help you save her." Perhaps the context was lost to other but Zac would know the person to whom Marcus was referring. Sunny- his friend. To Marcus, a stranger who was still worth saving.
He smiled, leaning forward onto his arm as he did his best to try and focus on sorting things out in his own head.
Renard's arrival was met with a curious eyebrow quirk.
"Hello."
Enemy or not, you should just be rude for the sake of hostility. The man hadn't done anything to them yet. He suddenly wondered if Gloom was doing alright. The shadows would have been a much more welcome party to have come through the door but- what could you do?

Chester Poole not a candido
The hum of his own heightened magic had stayed with him, and when it was time to end this, Chester kind of... sent the feeling toward the symbol on the floor, feeding power into it much more effectively than he had with the coin. They were meant to think of what they wanted to happen, he supposed, but beyond an appreciation for the first brave souls to step up, and an overarching desire to make Sunny sane again, whatever that meant, he wasn't thinking of much besides his need to live. To go home, and have a home to go to.
He glanced at Temperance—that was her name!—as she carefully sliced open another man's arm, a strangely familiar man, and Chester's nose scrunched slightly. He was committed. He longed for everything to be all right. But he wasn't quite ready to bleed for this. Hopefully what he was offering would be enough.

Eve
The werefox allowed Temperance to assist with her blood tribute -- her focus was on Sunny as well, and on restricting her (and magic) the same way one would a developing teenager, with the expectation both could grow and develop into full autonomy after recovering from the damages of the past. Renard be damned, let him have his freedom, it wouldn't empower him for long.
"When everyone is ready, I'd like to mark the moment of casting with a cup of tea for us all," she announced, having already summoned up an ebony tea tray (being in a space of boundlessly simple magic was enjoyable, far too enjoyable) and set to work preparing a small (but of course bottomless) pot of the darkest, earthiest, strongest pu-erh she could possibly imagine. Strong and dark enough even for Jeremiah and Algernon to tighten their lips suspiciously at and so, in Renard's case -- "Mr. LeRoux here isn't a fan, but I'm sure he won't mind."
Once fully prepared, the tray and pot would float around the table for those interested to pour an ever-available cup, and even add some cream or sweetener if they desired. Eve would take hers with a flash of sugar and only a touch cooler than boiling hot.

Renard rolls his eyes. His feelings about finding them there seem to be the same feelings they have as to finding him trying to get in.
He sees the stone and from that moment his eyes (blue--taking on a more violent sheen of purple as he steps closer to the stone) are riveted on it. He reaches out towards it, towards Jamie, and then he stops.
"Be careful with that," he says. Gives the stone one last lingering glance, an expression of aching, awful need in his face.
then he opens a vein in his wrist and pours his power into the sigil.
Those who have added theirs feel a groundswell beneath them in this magic-wrapped void, buoying them up, up, up--
--a feeling America, at least, knows, because Sunny has shared her powers this same way, like a parent lifting a child to their shoulders--
and it's------
it's-----

Juniper Wilcox up for Principal role
It was a turning point. Things were about the happen. Juniper wouldn’t stand there and say she was the most knowledgeable about what had been happening to all of them. Hell, she felt like a child compared to some here, but she had thrown herself into all of this head first. There had been no regrets in learning what she could, in experimenting with magic, and meeting all of the people involved. How could she? It was very much a part of her life now. So this looming challenge that they all faced was not something that she was going to turn away from.
There were too many people she wanted to protect. Hell, she wanted to keep those she had never even met safe. After all, why should anyone be harmed over something like this?
And poor Sunny, sure she barely knew the girl, but to fall into what seemed like a madness was heartbreaking.
Nope, Juniper was damned determined to throw her all into this. She even wanted to save Renard, the so called ‘Enemy’. His mistakes in the past were just that, in the past, and though she believed strongly in Karma, she also felt the man had paid for his ‘crimes’. Why should he have to face a possible death? Why should any of them?
She’d quite happily pay the fee of flesh if need be, if it meant an end to the continuous pain for so many.
She believed in the growth and knowledge that the tree represented. The balance that the knot entwined within it, and the key that promised a way to unlock freedom and understanding.
When it came to the fourth principle, Juniper hesitated a moment in her thoughts. There were multiple players for the role. Sunny, though it felt wrong to force her into the position, would it only harm her more in the end? Especially if something disrupted their intent? Renard also, but he had been forced into it the first time, perhaps a change would be good? There also was the stone that seemed to be connected to all of this somehow. Was there something or someone else they were missing?
She bit her lip, but made her decision. It felt wrong to force a person into such a position without their being there. Plus, she trusted Zac’s intuition.
The stone it was, and she poured her belief into that decision. No turning back now. A slice of the knife. Thoughts focused. With care and a determined look on her face, she poured her magic into her blood and into the traced sigil. She wanted everything to come together. To balance itself out and create a cohesive, tight-knit bond among everyone involved. This way, everyone can live safely.

Jamie Delacroix | 19/19
The revelation about the stone he'd found made Jamie's heart sink. Essence of Bad, that's what Leila had called it. The fact that he'd thought for a second his efforts in retrieving it were something that could help and not hurt made him feel almost achy with disappointment in himself. With a small sigh, he pulled the stone closer to him again, away from the prying eyes he'd offered it to only moments before. Wordlessly, he withdrew from her.
In his hands, the stone pulsed a new, even rhythm. It didn't feel bad, but then again Jamie knew very little about the magical world they inhabited. In the long run, he was truly uneducated. Eyes downcast, he nearly missed Renard's approach. Only the hand was enough to startle him from his stupor. Looking up, he locked eyes with Renard for only a moment before he turned away.
Jamie couldn't understand why he looked that way, either. He hated this feeling, the feeling of being so wholly ignorant and powerless.
"B-But... what is this?" he asked Renard, sounding almost desperate as he held the stone tight, unsure whether he'd turn back from the sigil or not.
