Night Wonderers

Ewan suddenly stepped out of the woods and cut a diagonal slash in the soul that was held in check by Fenrick. The fragile spirit dissipated immediately and whooshed back into a very lifeless Brigitte. There was still a dark, evil looking aura in place of the soul that made Ewan feel dispirited just looking at it.

"Watch out!" shouted Ewan as the evil aura dispersed into hundreds of small specks and flew straight at Lutia. Except it wasn't intent on taking over Lutia, it was making a beeline directly for Akia, the angel holding Lutia high in the air.

"No! Lutia!" shouted Ewan as he saw his little sisters dilemma become suddenly exceptionally dire.

Akia looked down to where the shout was comming from, but it was too late for him to dodge the spirit comming towards him. His wings turned a deep black and his eyes red. He now had, not the look of a heavenly angel, but a fallen one receeded into the darkness. "I could kill you right now Lutia." He said, "And let you plunge stright to your death." He cackled deeply.

Robin sighed, while she wanted to storm out into the middle of everything and shout at the top of her lungs; "THIS IS QUITE ENOUGH!" she wouldn't. It would be against who she was, and on top of that, it wouldn't get anything done except perhaps start a shouting fest. Instead, she walked down the ladder from the kitchen loft, and through the halls till she got to the door. Reaching it, she paused for a moment, composing herself, before she opened the door to the spectacle that awaited her in front of her inn. "May I ask what is going on here?"

Lutia tried to look at the now fallen angel, but she could not maneuver her body to look him in the face. Now all she cared about was how far away the ground was. She tried to call out, to scream, to make her present situation known to the others, but no sound would escape her mouth. She just was there, in the angel's grasp, not being able to do anything to get away.

She had to do something, though. Lutia raked her mind quickly of all the minor enchantments she knew she could do quickly, but in her current predicament, she could not remember much. Only one possibility presented itself. However, she might not live to see the conclusion of her plan. She had to get the angel to release his grip on her. Only then would she be able to do anything. She took an arrow out of her quiver on her waist and stabbed the angel in his forearm with as much strength as she could muster.

The angels eyes flickered in color as he screamed in pain, but he was still taken in by the darkness. His will power was not enough to fight it. He let go with the one arm he had been stabbed in. He smiled, "You think I care if he lives or not? His death has nothing to do with me." Though he smiled, there was a venomous look in his eyes, not at all happy. It was clearly evident that whatever possessed him wished her dead. He flew up higher and higher, holding Lutia by only one arm.

"That," A wind started to whip at Robins skirt. "Is quite enough!" She shot a fist into the air, so that a large gust of wind slammed into the fallen angel. "You will let her go." Her voice was a whisper, and yet, there was something in it that made you hear it, no matter how quiet it was. "You will let go now, or I will force you to let go."

Lutia's plan was not going as she had hoped. Now she was being brought even higher, and Robin's whispered threat seemed to have little effect on her adversary. There was no way she would survive the fall to the ground. Unless...

"Just drop me already!" shouted Lutia to the possessed angel as he carried her farther and farther upward. She could see him clearly now, and his image alone was enough to set the hairs on the back of her neck on end.

As she looked down and saw the others just become specks in the darkness, Lutia realized that the farther she had to fall, the more time she had to prepare an enchantment. Maybe she would land in the trees and survive the fall.... She knew it was wishful thinking, but what else could she do?

When she looked back up at the angel pulling her still higher, she felt herself become a bit lighter. Then she realized it was because her arrows were falling out of her quiver to rain down on the people below her! She was able to hold three in it with her free hand, as her other held her bow and was being held by the angel.

After securing the last three arrows in the quiver, Lutia looked up at her soon to be murderer and noted that they were slowing down. Here came the drop....

He used of wind to help him get even higher. The killing of the girl would be exciting, but the frightened look on her facemade him wish to go higher and higher. But now it was time to drop her. He knew she would be comming up woth some sort of plan to save herself. "Burn in hell!" He let his hand slowly slide down her arm, his hand cold as ice. As he was just holding her by his hand, his eyes flickered to their origional color, he mouthed the word sorry, but then the possesor took him back over again. He let go of her hand, leaving it cold as ice.

"Oh dear." After bringing a tiny tornado around to collect all the otherwise dangerous falling arrows, Robin frowned. This was not going well. Biting her lip, she looked up. By using the air as an amplifier, she was able to see what was going on up further than she coudl usually see. She sighed, it seemed as if the angel was simply going to drop Lutia. That woudl be no problem. "Hey Lutia. Don't worry. Just fall." She sent the tiny message up the pillar of air that she was spying throguh. It woudl reach her ear momentarily, the only problem woudl be gettign her to actually listen.

A groan left Brigitte's mouth as she opened her eyes. If she hadn't been the living dead, she would have thought she had died perminantly. She hurt everywhere, but remembered clearly what had happened to her. She turned her head to see Akia in the sky with Lutia... ready to drop her. Her eyes widened. No! This can't be happening, she thought. She jumped to her feet, her body still hurting. Her wings sprouted from her back as she prepared to launch herself at Akia as soon as Lutia was safe with Robin.

Lutia screamed. It was not at the timing of the release(she had expected that), it was not at the chilling feeling in her hand(she had no idea why it felt so cold, but it would not hinder her in any way), but rather the sudden realization that she was going to quite possibly fall a long time to her death. While still screaming, she heard a voice tell her not to worry, but she thought she was just hearing things due to her sudden dire straits. Of course she had to do something. She took the last of her arrows and shot all three of them into Akia's torso simultaneously. Not looking to see if her arrows had hit the mark, Lutia shouldered her bow and turned herself over and spread her limbs so she would slow her face-down fall to the ground.

Her hair was flying crazily behind her as she fell, and her clothing was pressed against her. Her face contorted oddly with the rush of wind that greeted it, and she had to keep blinking so her eyes wouldn't dry out. She decided to put on her eye covers(goggles, basically without the air tightness. Look at her picture on page... 3?) and waited for a little while before taking out the last Stone of Slowfall from it's pouch on her waist. The enchantment only lasted ten seconds, so she had to time it perfectly. She held the stone in one fist and waited for the time to come...

Akia was able to push the possession back and regained control of himself for the time being, his physical appearance turning back to normal. "Wings, scatter!" He shouted. The arows pierced him, but that didn't matter. He had to save Lutia before she crashed to the ground. He started to fall fast, but his feathers aimed toward Lutia to catch her.

Fenrick shot Ewan a brain wave that momentarily paralyzed him.


He then took off into the air and was making a spike of darkness realm. He took it in one hand and flew straight for Akia. He thrust the spike of darkness into Akia.

The soul came out and was in Fenrick's control.

He swooped down and held it there.

"NOBODY MOVE!"

Brigitte launched herself into the air, but instead of aiming to kill, she aimed to save Akia. She rose silently and steadily to Akia, gathering him to her before he could fall. "I'm not about to let you die," she said softly, looking at the spike in Akia.

"Thank you, but save the girl." He said before he passed out. The feathers aiming to catch the girl just stopped the movement and then fell like weights to the ground. He was bleeding heavily from the arrows that had pierced him. He was close to death.
