" Know you any, Hero?" He says.

"None, my lord," Lizzie replied, trying to keep from grinning. Saying her lines with Jake didn't feel very serious.

"O, what men dare do! what men may do! what men daily
do, not knowing what they do!" Jake thought about what he just said. "Um, that was kind of weird." HE said with a smile.

"Yeah, it was. How now! interjections? Why, then, some be of laughing, as, ah, ha, he!" Lizzie prompted, reading Benedick's line.

((Got to go...back later.))

"Stand thee by, friar. Father, by your leave:
Will you with free and unconstrained soul
Give me this maid, your daughter?" He says.

"As freely, son, as God did give her me," Lizzie said.

Jake smiled "And what have I to give you back, whose worth
May counterpoise this rich and precious gift?" He looked into her eyes.

Lizzie blushed a brilliant shade of crimson and grinned stupidly at Jake. Finding her place in the script again, she read Don Pedro's line: "Nothing, unless you render her again."

((That is weird. On an unrelated note, guess who gets to go see The Taming of the Shrew this Friday? ME ME ME!))

Jake took a breath and begun his long line:
"Sweet prince, you learn me noble thankfulness.
There, Leonato, take her back again:
Give not this rotten orange to your friend;
She's but the sign and semblance of her honour.
Behold how like a maid she blushes here!
O, what authority and show of truth
Can cunning sin cover itself withal!
Comes not that blood as modest evidence
To witness simple virtue? Would you not swear,
All you that see her, that she were a maid,
By these exterior shows? But she is none:
She knows the heat of a luxurious bed;
Her blush is guiltiness, not modesty."
He sighed. "Dang that was long."

"It's long, but it's important," Lizzie pointed out. "There are lines even longer than that in other Shakespeare plays." She ran her finger down the script and found the next line. "'What do you mean, my lord?'"

"Not to be married,
Not to knit my soul to an approved wanton."
Jake shrugged and looked back at Lizzie.

Lizzie grinned. "This is absolutely my favorite scene in this whole play," she said, looking at Jake. Clearing her throat and looking back down at the script, she read, "Dear my lord, if you, in your own proof, have vanquish'd the resistance of her youth, and made defeat of her virginity--"

Jake smiled. "I know what you would say: if I have known her,
You will say she did embrace me as a husband,
And so extenuate the 'forehand sin:
No, Leonato,
I never tempted her with word too large;
But, as a brother to his sister, show'd
Bashful sincerity and comely love." He looked into her eyes and set down his script. He leaned over and kissed her.
