"It's time to leave now, say your goodbyes..."

"As a cub I was often looked down upon, punished for things I did not think I could help. My sister and my brother, the never cried as often as I did. It was seen as a big weakness, and it was shameful. Expected because I was female, but shameful all of the same." Her voice was quiet, calm with a slight throaty quality to it that spoke of something foreign and exotic. Her words retained no bitterness towards what she was saying, her past spoken as though it was composed of simple facts. "You see... I saw things. Visions, I suspect one like yourself would call them. But being so young... with how often I saw things and could not understand them... they were terrifying." She paused a moment as if to elaborate on the subject, then changed her mind. "My beatings were not hard, the pain was easy to accept and get used to. My tears? Harder to hide... but often I tried." A soft chuckle, though little amusement was contained in the melodic tingle of bells that was her laugh. "Something I owe to my pelt... perhaps." A shrug equally soft as her laughter, carefully calculated to come right at the exact moment she meant it to. "By the time I finally learned to hold in those tears, that I realized crying did nothing to sway the emotions of those more cruel and powerful... well by then it was too late. My mother had come for my brother and myself. My sister... she was left to her own devices with my father. Stuck in the clutches of those... devils." Her last word came with a slight purr, an almost-quirk to her maw that suggested something of enjoyment. "You... you've met these devils, haven't you? Poor, innocent baby." She cooed, her words meant to offer comfort and solace but her tone suggesting sick enjoyment.

"The darkness won't hurt you. There now, close your eyes."

"We learned of my mother, of her status in the world. Something more significant than you or I. She was a goddess, a being not easily understood by ones as insignificant as us. I'd wager I knew a little more of them than you, though. The gods... we did not meet them as often as the strange mortals. They came and they went, as we came and went. We travelled often... monsters are all over the world, you know. It does not take horns or fangs or blood splattered pelts to identify them... often it is much harder than that." She sighed softly, her voice had returned to it's softer, less emotional state. "It was a learning experience, I would wager a guess. We remained rogues, always, but we stayed for short periods of time with this pride or that one. Strange customs some of those prides had, too. Prides who used their paws and mixed mud and flowers and berries with rain water, who used the mixtures to decorate walls and themselves equally. Prides who sacrificed whole litters to those gods less merciful than my mother. Or perhaps to gods who did not listen at all. It's queer what we as mortals due for attention, no?" Her gaze drifted, seemed to lose touch with what was going on around the lioness. Only for a moment, though. Then it returned, her pale eyes were hard and clear once again. "There was one stranger though... he was like us. My brother and I, I mean. He saw things, though different from my brother and myself. It's hard to explain to one without the gift, so I won't bother making your brain strain itself in this state. I was still young when he first came into my life... not quite a juvenile but still yet to obtain any sort of adolescent status. It didn't matter, I was smitten with him by the second night he stayed with us. Looking back it was quite silly... and something that was not meant to be." She did not look upset or heartbroken over this, rather she looked contemplative.

"He had a mate, you know. A pretty little thing, fur the color of freshly spilled blood. Her eyes were as blue as the sky during the hottest days of the savannah... she was fit and witty, charming." She gazed steadily at you, her eyes seemed to cut through whatever she was looking at, seemed to hold secrets that no other could even begin to guess at. "That did not last either, the traveling, the gods, the strangers. He didn't last, nor did his pretty little mate." A pause, stretched until it seemed she would no longer speak. "Perhaps it was my mother that did not last, she went her separate way and my brother and I were expected to do the same. It was a confusing time for me... what was I to do with my life if my mother was not by my side? Further more it was when the visions came back to me... strange, that. As though my mother's very presence calmed those sights, rid them from my being. But who can say?" A careless little shrug, a mystery that would go unsolved. "Weeks went by and eventually the answer came to me... all of the horrible things I kept seeing... I realized what they were. I probably knew these things to be true even as a cub... I must have, how could I mistake that figure for anyone else?" The way she spoke danced in riddles and inspired more questions, but she seemed content to wait. Perhaps to let you piece it together, perhaps because she wanted a bigger impact upon revealing the true answer. "So I went... I went to where I was supposed to go. The first visit was to my love, the only male I will ever love, I think. Well... he was second, admittedly. His little mate, she was the first." She seemed to purr the words, tail idly flicking.

"I found her hunting, alone like a fool! But it worked out well for me, stalking her as she stalked her prey... sneaking and maneuvering myself. It's very difficult to hunt with a pelt as light as my own, you see." A slow smile crawled across her maw, but did not touch her eyes. "When I fell upon her I don't think she realized what was going on at first. I... I lost myself, I admit. When I came back to myself... the amount of blood..." She shivered and shook her head. "And then it was his turn. But he... he had been expecting me. That is the trouble with this gift, interacting with those who also have it... no matter. He was half broken... he knew that I'd killed her before I ever opened my mouth to tell it true myself. His death... the mercy I offered him... I remember that one. It was much less of a bloody affair than his little mate." She shrugged, again as though these were just little facts in her life that no longer mattered in the larger scale of things. "You haven't figured it out yet, have you? It was me in those visions! The things I have done... the things I will do! But to avoid it... to try and restrain myself... why should I? We're all monsters you know, all of us."

"Really I am offering you mercy, there is no other way you should view it."

She looked again to the small juvenile she'd found in her path... it'd been a long time since she'd confessed her life to anyone. It was good to cleanse herself sometimes... and a half-broken audience was always a most willing audience. She could not bring herself to feel sad for the little thing, life was cruel and if you weren't also cruel than life would get the better of you. It was simple, wasn't it? Though she would need to leave the area soon, she had no wish to run into the Nergui at the moment. Later... later when it was time. That was when she would return to her sister, return to her fellow monsters. "Close your eyes now." She purred the words, her voice more pleasant than before. "This will hurt quite a bit... but it will be over quickly. I imagine you've been in quite some pain." And without another word she moved forward, paw coming heavy down on the other's face to block the breathing passages. Her other paw came slashing across the neck, claws out. She held the juvenile down until he was still, and then took a deep breath herself and stepped back. "Such pure creatures... they do not belong in a world full of monsters." Her voice was now cold, completely free of any other emotion. She stared down at the body for a moment before turning and looking in the direction the pride must have went. "Another time, sister." She whispered, before turning and trotting in the opposite direction. She had another lion to see... another tragic end for a stranger and all at her paws.
