"From what I know of the Comebuys, they are not." Lavern answered Blizzard as she approached the broken chandelier. "Cheating? How so?" Lavern asked as she began to pick up larger pieces of gems, hoping that maybe they could be salvaged.

"A lesson about hybrids, Ms. Lavern." I said. "Hybrids come in various degress...some of the more extreme, such as myself, and those where...you can't really tell at all. But regardless of the circumstance, chances are they do have some innate traits of a Pokemon, not saying just using Pokemon attacks like Ice Beam and such..." I started sifting through the wreckage, trying to find the source of the chi that I felt earlier. "...things such as what their species are known for. For example, say canine based Pokemon. One thing they mostly have in common is heightened hearing and smelling. You know, the kind of stuff that you'd probably learn in school in one way or another. Birds, such as myself, has a bit of a sense that can pick up special kind of signatures." I would really go into the specifics about Chi at this point, but I would probably best to summarize it. "Most species of birds, such as Farfetch'd or Wingull...you know, heavily migratory birds, use this sense to keep up with their migration paths, and how they should coordinate, especially say if there's danger ahead of them, like say a bad storm. During the battle, I was feeling something coming from this chandelier, something that was helping Comebuy from I assume from start to finish. It was helping that Tyrantrum of his, that was for certain...I nearly lost Porygon-Z over it..."

"Pory..."

"Ah geez, you're exhausted, aren't you. Just hang on and I'll help you out in a bit..." I said, looking back through the wreckage. "At any rate, I think it was one or maybe even a combination of these gems...I don't know...uh...what do you have there?" I asked Ms. Lavern. Leaving nothing to chance, obviously.

"That's actually very interesting." Lavern said to Blizzard, her face lighting up as she listened to him talk about hybrids. Her intense concentration on the hybrid was broken by the question he had ask, the maid now looking down at the shards of gem in her hands. "Oh, well let's see here...I think this is part of a Fire Gem, and this one a Psychic. I'm not sure what this one is but it's the biggest chunk I found." Lavern said as she held up a chunk of brownish gem.

The gem appeared smooth but its texture felt very rough. It was brown and translucent and on the inside you could see smaller bits of hexagonal minerals. Blizzard would know without a doubt this was the center piece of the chandelier, and now that he was closer to it he could sense it had some Rock based chi to it but there was something else, something that made it stand out from a regular Rock Gem, or even a Hard Stone. The chi coming from it was too strong, too pure. This was not just something someone dug up out of the ground one day.

"...here, let me see this one..." I said, taking the gem in question, staring at it pretty intently. "...this was it." I said. "This was the thing Comebuy was using. Though...this doesn't look like anything I've known to crop up in the Pokemon world...some of these other things look like say the element gems that are pretty commonly found in say Unova...but, this here..." I shook my head. "I don't think I ever seen anything like it...where did this chandelier come from, do you know?"

"The chandelier? It has been here for as long as I can remember. That said, I never saw that particular gem on it before. The chandelier only had eighteen gems on it, one for each Pokemon type. There was never anything at its center. Comebuy must have put it there. Maybe his father would know where it came from, he is a noble in this chateau as well. His father is a Marquis however and strickly goes by tradition so I doubt he'll talk to you unless you defeat him in a battle. Even then, you need to rank up once more before he would consider it." Lavern explained to Blizzard. "That is if you really wanted to find out about that gem."

"...tch...figures." I said, handing back the gem. "Meh, it was his father that actually gave him the gall to ask for a rematch, and I'm willing to bet also that he put him up to cheating just to kick me out of the Chateau. The lengths people will go through to preserve their pride. Alright...well, no sense in lamenting over it now. Geez, here...eh...let me help you out with this mess...I can't leave you alone with this...I did after all bait Comebuy in destroying his crutch. Though if it were up to me, I'd make HIM clean up this mess...make him actually do some work for a change, and at the very least make him pay for trying to cheat like that..." I said. "It makes me cringe, ugh...sorry, gym discipline again showing..."

"Thank you, Blizzard." Lavern said with a smile as she proceeded to clean up the mess alongside her master and friend.

It would take the pair almost an hour to clean up the mess, and several other members of the help had come by to take the pieces of the chandelier away for repair. Per chateau policy no one would be held accountable for its destruction or the payment to replace it, as many valuables get broken here due to the climate of the chateau.

Now Lavern stood in the now clean ballroom with Blizzard, her Spewpa helping by 'sweeping' up some rocks that were left behind, it liked to help. "That seems to be the last of it." Lavern said cheerfully as Spewpa crept its way back to its trainer. "The day is still young, sire. Do you think you'll get in a few more battles before lunch?" She asked Blizzard.

I recalled Porygon-Z for him to finally rest in the ball and went on to help Lavern with the cleaning of the ballroom. After it was done, I was pretty satisfied with the job we done. I had to admit though, it was cute seeing the Spewpa trying to help as it can. I looked back at Lavern then crossed my arms. "I can try..." I said. "Not sure who all will be ready to go against me, though...Comebuy was the only one ready to try to come at me today, but that was only a vendetta he failed to fulfill."

"I'm sure you'll find someone, sire. Just take a walk around the chateau and I'm sure someone will jump at the chance to battle the Cold One." Lavern said with a smile and a wave before leaving the ballroom with her Spewpa. Wait, did she call Blizzard the Cold One? He hadn't used that title here and the only one who came close to calling him similar was Wulfric when he called him 'strange one'. Seems that name follows him organically.

It took a second to register, but then I took a quick glace back then thought for a minute. "Huh..." I gave a couple silent laughs then walked off out of the ballroom. As soon as I made my way out of the room, I started to walk the halls again, a hand in my pocket. Well...this was one way to start a day...

Blizzard might have to walk around for a bit before he noticed another trainer, it was early after all. The trainer he found was a middle aged gentleman in a blue suit. He looked like he was in his thirties and seemed to be enjoying a morning cup of tea as he sat at a table in front of an arched window, his Pokemon, a large pink blob that looked like a cupcake, standing next to him as he fed it Pokepuffs from the table.

The man would notice Blizzard and wave at him. "Cold One, I presume." He shouted to him.

I took my time, to be sure, as I traversed the halls. The more I walked around, the more I got to know the place...and the more I felt out of place, really. I grew up in a simple place, under tough, yet simple, conditions. A lot of these people tend to take for granted what they have here and it rubs me the wrong way. I've only found a few that actually have a level head on their shoulders, fortunately...I wish more of them could have been like that.

Over time, I found my way back in the hall full of paintings...I never really did get a good look at all of them. One painting after the next of famous battles that took place in this chateau. A reminder to many, and perhaps a warning, to those who try to rise in stature.

I continued down the halls, eventually coming across some source of life in this chateau. Though that one apparently wanted my attention. "Only a title many figures up on their own..." I said, stopping. "It seems to follow me wherever I go, really, and all I do is battle and share some insight. And who do I have this pleasure of speaking to?" I asked.

"Name's Christophe, Earl Christophe. My great great grand daddy was the creator of Pokepuffs and I, as well as the rest of the men in my family am a five star pastry chef. No one in all of Kalos makes Pokepuffs better than I, other than my daddy over yonder." The man said with a laugh. If this guy was a person in the real world one would be certain he was from the deep south.

"So, you be the Cold One. Can't say I fancy your kind too much but from what I heard of you, well boy you are simply fascinating. Please, why don't ya'll sit down and enjoy a Pokepuff or two, I think we can be civilized to one another." The man said to Blizzard, taking a sip of his tea. "Then afterwards we can have ourselves a battle so that I can see for my own self whether or not a hybrid can live up to its hype." Such an odd mixture of manners and rudeness.

"I'm not sure if I should be wary or relaxed now..." I said to him. However, I wasn't going to back down from this person...if anything, I was out to make a statement, even if that statement was a cover for a bigger thing. "So what kind of hype are we talking about? I'm assuming negative hype, considering what I've been dealing with since I got into the region. I'm almost inclined to believe tourism is overrated. I've only met a handful of people in this region that were actually accepting...I've gotten some insight as to why though from a nice lady here yesterday, but eh..." I gave a shrug.

"They say you're particularly strong, which I reckon is flattering. They also say you've been making a mockery of our traditions and have disrespected the chateau, that's not so flattering. But as my daddy says, gossip is Darkrai's radio. So I'll just see how you are for my own self." The man said as he sipped his tea.

"Do onto others, sir." I said, sitting back in my chair. "Really, its not so much as me making a mockery, just more of me questioning...a lot of things really, as for as justifications. I've pretty much seen negative impacts both in this region and from my own just how 'traditions' blind people. This place here is a nice place. People took time to make it a marvel that people can look at, even from afar back on Route 7. If anything, it looked really good in the travel brochure I saw this place in...but in turn a lot of people I find take this place for granted. They don't want to accept that this place was made by people who were willing to get their hands dirty to make a marvel. I look from a outsider's perspective; I see...oppression, subjugation, and any other 'gations' that you can imagine. I've got a maid, Ms. Lavern, that has been left to me by a lady here, Ms. Ayla...the maid, I think she's in culture shock right now, because I honestly don't think she ever had a friend beyond the maids and butlers here. I'm left to question if some people around here appreciate what they got, or how they got here. Geez, sir, just a while ago, I made a guy who thought he was all high and mighty leave in tears and embarrassment. Yea, he's not going to have a fun time breaking the news once he gets back home."
