Pratchett writes humor: Discworld is a fantasy world where the wizards hang out at the Unseen University (and its Librarian is a wizard accidentally turned into an orangutan who prefers being an orangutan), a witch named Nanny Ogg checks under bed in case a man's there (never know when you might be lucky) and Death once took the place of the Hogfather, Discworld's answer to Santa Clause. Oh, yes, there's tee-totalling vampires called Black Ribboners, the Ankh-Morpork City guard has a werewolf, golem, dwarf, troll, gnome and just recently a vampire among its ranks.
Igors are originally from another country, Uberwald. They all tend to look alike (except for the position of the hump) and make great surgeons.
It's a wonderful series. |
