If he said help me kill the president,
                                                        I'd say he needs medicine,
Sick of screaming let us in,
The wires got the best of him.

Arnie offered a small smile and flopped her head against Oliver's shoulder.
"I'd like that quite a bit." She whispered,
glancing at him with a smile. She would love to just wander with him everywhere all night long. It would help her take her mind off of everything.
She wasn't very good at getting over things though... but she had a feeling Ollie would help. It wasn't like her feelings for him had disappeared.
She still liked him, she'd just given up on him realizing he liked her too.
Of course, he figured it out too late. Boys were always late. But now...
well now she liked him, she was a sad lonely dumpee, and he liked her.
A night with him might be exactly what she needed to get over jerkface mcgee.

"I haven't been sleeping well. I dunno. Maybe it's just sadness. So walking around instead of sleeping might make me tired enough to finally get some good rest." She offered another smile and lifted her head from his shoulder, and shrugged. "I'll get over it eventually. I mean he's just a stupid jerk.. Way easier than getting over a good guy."

The wires getting older I can hear the way they're creaking,
                                                        Won't tell me to stop,
Thinks that I should be a little cautious.
Well, I can tell the wires pulled

Timothy had been watching the sorting quietly, noting where people went. However, when the stool was placed away, he stood patiently and walked over to the podium. He looked over the crowd of assembled students, ready to welcome them to the new school year. "Hello everyone, and welcome back for a new school year. For those that are just now beginning their education at Hogwarts, I would like to extend a welcome and hope they are diligent in their studies. However, before we begin the feast and forget what needs to be stated, I must make the usual school announcements. There is to be no magic used in between classes in the halls, and under no circumstances should you enter the Forbidden Forest unless you wish to shorten your lifespan by a number of years. The other school rules are posted for people to peruse at their leisure, but considering these are the most frequent violations, I must bring them up here. Now, let us sit back, tuck in, and enjoy the feast before the evening ends." Timothy took a seat, ready himself to eat.

And I discovered that my castles stand

ARIA SOLARIN __________
Seventh Year, Gryffindor _______
══════════════════════════════________

The feast was well underway. You couldn't hear yourself think unless you tried hard enough. Good thing Aria didn't want to. She had had enough of that in the girls' lavatories. She couldn't get over what happened at the station. What in the world had gotten into Arden? Was he hoping to do something? Something private, maybe? Whatever it was, she was marching down the Great Hall right now to find out.

Two fingers tapped against the shoulder of Arden Strudwick, Aria had found him easily enough at the Slytherin Table. She didn't wait for an answer when she asked, ”Mind if I join you?” Then squeezed herself in. She was quiet as she plucked a chocolate eclair from a tray, devoured half of it in one go then found herself a glass of milk. ”Sorry I missed most of the feast—hey you are okay right? I mean, I dunno—you seemed funny, back at the station.” It was hard to explain and she wasn't even sure how to try. So she chewed on another bite of her eclair trying to find the words. ”Did something happen over the summer?” Or were you going to ask something? Is what she wanted to say. And maybe she should. It had been her intention all along but now that she was here, she just panicked. What if it wasn't what she expected? What if she made an arse of herself? That was the last thing she wanted, especially here and now around so many Slytherins. Later, she told herself. They can talk all about 'feelings' later. For now, she might as well try to enjoy what was left of the feast, even if it felt like all of the Slytherin's had been giving her funny looks.

Arden felt someone tap him on the shoulder as the sorting ended and the fest started. Not that he wasn't used to the speech the headmaster gave out now, but This time he almost wanted to chuckle at what seemed like very simple instructions and about however many first years actually followed them. He glanced up to notice Aria, and gave her a smile and shook his head as she asked him if she could join him. "Oh no, not at all. Though, it looks like you found a seat easily enough." It was light teasing, and he settled himself to actually getting something for himself to eat. There was a brief wonder at how he'd actually managed to feed himself over the summer, but he reminded himself that he'd learned something of how to cook from his oldest cousin, even if Jesse's preferences were... odd.

He had picked up a forkful of food and raised it to his mouth when Aria asked him if he was all right. He blinked before lowering the fork, recalling his behavior quite easily and shaking his head at it. "Oh, um, no, everything's fine. It's just..." Arden struggled to think of how to phrase it without sounding like a complete neanderthal, but was having a hard time. Instead, he shrugged, not used to being ineloquent. "If you're meaning something happening as in I moved out on my own, then yes. I did want to talk at the station, but that was slightly derailed. Perhaps later though." Arden mentally winced, thinking that sounded completely dismissive. However, he wasn't sure exactly how to word it. "Maybe we could take a trip down to Hogsmeade sometime?" Then maybe Arden would have figured out how to word what he meant better. It certainly seemed like he would be forever sticking his foot in his mouth otherwise.

                                                                ▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

I don't like my mind right now, stacking up problems that are so unnecessary.
Wish that I could slow things down, I wanna let go but there's comfort in the panic.
You say that I'm paranoid, but I'm pretty sure the world is out to get me.
It's not like I make the choice to let my mind stay so ******** messy!

Garnet must have been too stubborn to ******** around the head last year to remember that he was right, Warlow didn't really give a s**t about it at all. That or maybe he was too cynical that he might have ignored that Treva has a point when people weren't always scared of him, just only at the times when Garnet was... in a bad mood. But he was doing his best to control his temper now, anger management and all- Garnet wanted to say that it was an improvement. He did however smiled with a fluster when Treva was doing that spoon thingy to imply that he was nice-looking. Yeah, he guessed he had been overreacting for the last four years- and it made him a mess at that point. However, even if he wasn't proud of what he did to Peter, Garnet still won't forgive and forget. When it was time for him to escort the first years, Garnet sincerely chuckled when Treva gave a dramatic sigh about having to wait for him to escort the freshmen before snogging. He squeezed her hand before letting it go to stand up, "Deal, wish me luck, Treva."

He then fixed his tie and prefect badge, clearing his throat before charming his voice to be louder than usual, "Bonjour, first year snakelets. May I have your undivided attention?" He then set down his hands and crossed his arms, "My name is Garnet; one of the prefects and I'm going to escort you to the common room for the night. The other one is Phoebe and she might be coming here soon. You may ask questions, but please no funny businesses because I may or may not be unbiased enough to dock points at the start of the school year and none of you wanted that." He did however raised a brow on Caleb Devereux, as if daring him to make a snark at him, though it did make Garnet look like a total posh snot. The redhead Richardson and blonde Blodwen looked promising and won't be as bad as the others, the Travers kid on the other hand... Garnet was going to give that one a benefit of a doubt. For now.

ARIA SOLARIN __________
Seventh Year, Gryffindor _______

She snorted, pleased that he seemed to be in higher spirits than when she left him. Aria gave a sideways glance to her friend before mustering a look of coy and intrigue when she said, ”Oh, you should know by now—I always get what I want.” Then held her head high with a preening pride before launching into a small fit of giggles. There was no way in Hell she could have finished that lie with a straight face. Instead she flashed him a grin, ”Sorry, couldn't help myself.”

She was staring at Arden now, even if she tried not to. Her expressions shifted from impatience to disbelief then to something akin to suspicion but really more along the lines of 'riiiiiight, suuuuure.' Then Aria shook her head. ”Pffft, not perhaps, definitely.” She corrected, even so far as to point a wagging chocolate-frosted finger in his direction. She perked up at the sound of visiting Hogsmeade, however, and sucked her finger clean suddenly craving sweets from Honeydukes. ”Oooooh, yes, ******** yes. I could use me some candy, and I do love the park there.” She finished off the rest of her pastry, decided she was finished with the feast (damn bloated belly) and leaned an elbow against the table. ”So... You moved away from your bloody crazy family huh? Where you livin' now? Probably still ******** away from Bristol, huh?” There were a lot more questions she wanted to pry out of him, but now was neither the time or place. She didn't know much about his family, only that he had lived with his aunt and uncle and they were, to put it as nicely as possible, bloody purists. Aria couldn't believe there were still so many of them around, but living to one hundred and fifty might have something to do with that. Old folks are especially crochety in the muggle world, she could only imagine what an extra sixty years, blind ancient tradition, and actual magic can add to that.

                                                                ▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

Arden chuckled as he heard Aria's proclamation that she got what she wanted. Not that he doubted her, just that saying that while sitting with Slytherins was actually pretty amusing. He doubted that any of the more snobbish members of his house would allow her even an inch, but if she decided to carry herself in such a way that it was that outrageous, she might be able to get away due to the sheer shock value. "I'm now imagining you saying that to some of my housemates and their reactions. If you catch them right, they might be so flabbergasted that they can't do anything about it."

He cocked an eyebrow at the wagging finger, feeling a lot more amused than he was before. However, when she mentioned getting sweets and the park, he couldn't help but recall that he hadn't really seen the park or visited Honeydukes. He partially blamed that on visiting his cousin quite a bit during those weekends, but considering that Jesse was the closest to a sane member of his family, he doubted he'd really be faulted. "I guess we can make it a date." He paused, realizing how it sounded and suddenly went red. "O-or just, um, 'hanging out'. That is the muggle expression, right?"

The comment about his family being crazy had him rolling his eyes a bit, but they weren't all crazy, just some of them. Or well, more than just some. Enough of them were. "No, right now I'm living in Lancashire. It was easier to get my parents to sign a lease for me since I'm still technically a minor around Muggles. But, at least my uncle has no idea yet, I think." He sure hoped not. convincing his parents was one thing he'd always been good at, convincing Hamnet was another matter entirely.

I'm not angry, I'm just saying...

Aria took the moment now to take stock of the people around her. The Slytherin's didn't look any different from the other students, and to be honest, most seemed rather nice, if a little too serious. There were several intense discussions going on in all directions not that she could make out any of the words, she was surprised to even hear Arden over it all. ”Ha!” she snorted. ”Well wouldn't tha' be fun! It'd probably give your lot enough excitement to last all year—I mean no offense—you mates can be downright depressing sometimes.” Especially so when the Slytherin's are on a losing streak in the quidditch matches. It's like having a quarter of the class filled with nothing but Bloody Baron's sulking around. She'd rather take Peeves over the Baron.

A funny look fluttered over her scrunched up nose and knitted brows. She could see the wheels turning in his mind during that sudden pause, as if all the blood had rushed from his brain and went, well, somewhere else. Then sputtered like a car out of gas. “Sorry, didn't realize there was a wizarding equivalent to 'hanging out,'” she said with quoting fingers then smiled impishly. ”Or, y'know, you could always just ask me out, all proper and like like you'd probably do, then it could be a date? Or, y'know, whatever.” Aria teased him in the rib cage with the poke of her finger, but eventually turned to look away sheepishly. She'd never been so self-conscious of herself before, it was weird. She had never cared what anyone had thought of her before, but she couldn't just put the same expectation on her friend. It wasn't fair. And this was the Slytherin Table, she reminded herself again, probably too late.

After all of that, she was most disappointed to hear the news. Aria stuck out her tongue and said, ”That's bollocks. That's like, three or four hours away from my house. So you're living on your own now, yeah? That's wicked. Can't imagine what that must be like. Peace and quiet.” She got neither of those things here in the common room or at home. Just too many people living under one roof. Especially since her oldest brother moved back home after he spent his first year boarding on campus at university.

                                                      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Rey rushed out of the common room to the Great Hall for breakfast. It was still early but there was going to be french toast today and those ran out notoriously quickly. She took a seat at the Slytherin table and, cheering mentally when she saw a few platefuls of the toast and snagged herself a few before tucking in. She looked up when owls swooped into the hall bearing mail, spotting Artemis among them. The owl landed next to her table, nibbling at her fingers in greeting before held out her leg expectantly. Rey smiled at her and after finishing her toast, she untied the letter from Artemis' leg and offered her the last bit of sausage, which she graciously accepted before flying off. Rey smiled as she watched her go, making a mental note to have some more treats on hand for next time. Recognising her mother's handwriting on the envelope, she pulled out the letter and began to read eagerly.

For a moment, Rey wasn't sure she'd read the letter correctly and she read it once again, slower and more carefully this time. Her world narrowed down to the words that were shakily written on the parchment declaring that her father had died last night and she didn't want to believe it. If it was from anyone else, she'd have readily called it a cruel joke and disregarded it, but it was from her mother and her mum didn't lie, especially not about something like this. The letter was blurry and her hand tightened, nearly crumpling it but Rey didn't notice, too busy trying to keep her breathing steady. Her dad died. Her dad died and the last time she'd seen him was months ago during the winter break. He'd spent most of the last night telling them godawful jokes that had Rey's stomach aching with laughter and suddenly, she wanted nothing more than to be back home in his arms even though she always complained about how tight he hugged her. He'd never do that again. She'd never see him again because he died and she wasn't there.

Up until a few minutes ago, Rey had been starving, but now, even the sight and smell of food made her nauseous and everything she'd already eaten churned in her stomach, refusing to settle. Her eyes had been watering, but she could let the tears fall, not here. Not in front of all these strangers who didn't have a single clue about what happened; she needed to get out. She got up on slightly unsteady legs, head bowed and grabbing her bag robotically before she started to walk towards the doors. She was slow, but her pace quickened with each step and she left the hall in a run, almost crashing into the oncoming students before rushing away without pausing or an apology. She just ran through the hallways, barely paying attention to where she was going and soon, Rey found herself in an empty corridor, looking blankly at the suits of armour. Her back hit the wall, her knees finally gave away, causing her to slowly slide down to the ground. She chanced another glance down at the letter still clutched in her hand and she saw the words declaring her father dead once more. The tears she'd been holding back finally spilled over and she curled into herself with a quiet sob.

However, it looked as though it was about time for him to stand and make his usual announcement. The school year had gone smoothly, with the usual hiccups regarding arguing in classes and the like. However, he was hoping that this year, there wouldn't be any sudden surprises waiting for the departing students. Standing, he walked over to the podium and cleared his throat.

"Well now, we find ourselves at the end of another year. For those who just joined us, congratulations for making it through your first year, and for those now leaving, we wish you the best in any endeavors you may pursue in the future. As such, the standings of the cup should be announced." He looked over the tables before looking back to the students. "The house cup standings are thus. In fourth place, with 150 points, is Ravenclaw. Third place, with a total of 165 points, goes to Gryffindor. Second place, with a total of 175 points, goes to Slytherin. And finally, in first place with a total of 475 points as well as the Quidditch Cup, goes to Hufflepuff! Congratulations on your wins. Now, let us tuck in, enjoy the evening, and prepare for your trips back home for the summer."

Caleb Devereux
Second Year Slytherin
Middle Child

Location : Great Hall - Slytherin Table

Caleb was not impressed with the way he spent his summer. Locked up in his room as a result of failing to attend his classes. His parents were furious with him. He should have expected that would happen when he returned home. Being back at school however, was a much needed relief from the lectures he had received. Course he spent his travel back to school alone for most of it. His brother only crossed paths with him once which he was happy for.

Arriving in the great hall Caleb hoped no one would bother with him. His brother especially given that he was the new Slytherin Prefect. He rolled his eyes at the thought. Julius was hardly of any interest to him even with the stupid badge. Taking a seat at the table, he found himself growing increasingly bored at the waiting game. Why were older students meant to watch the sorting? He hardly cared who ended up in his house. He’d rather eat dinner and go to bed. Then he could go about his own devices for the week until Quidditch tryouts started up. That’s really all he was waiting for.

With a sigh Caleb looked to the front of the room. He was only half watching the sorting he had no interest in. How many Slytherin’s would they get anyway? Not that he cared about it. Even if they made into Slytherin were they even pure. He doubted it. He’d gotten lucky with his year. Treva snorted and rested her head on his shoulder. "So heroic of you." Sometimes (not often, but sometimes) she did admire her boyfriend's self control. While it could be annoying as hell, at least he wasn't get brought up on charges of abusing his power as a prefect. Which she would totally do, although she'd try not to get caught doing it. Luckily, the Head of Slytherin had enough brain cells to rub together to realize that her as a prefect would be a bad idea. Especially after this summer, although hopefully no one knew about that. "You'll never know," she said in a sing-song tone in reference to the obnoxious third year, and then arched an eyebrow at him at his question about what they'd be 'doing'. "You guess," she snarked. By that time they were into the castle and at the Slytherin Table, and Treva was less than pleased with the newcomers. What kind of weak turnout was this? Slytherin was supposed to be a power house! "This is bullshite...," she muttered. "Ugh, look at Julius' arsehole brother. Can I jinx him? Just once?"

Enid Lambert née Brewster
Half-Blood Slytherin First Year Adopted

Location : Great Hall - Slytherin Table

                                                Slytherin!

Enid blinked in response to the sorting hat’s words and decision. She hadn’t expected to be in the house of green and silver. As she got off the stool and walked to her table, she gave it a bit of thought. Sitting down at her house table she found herself alright with it and shrugged it off. Though she may not have thought herself a possibility for it, she had nothing against it. Enid supposed it gave her something to write home about and something to tell her cousin Mira. They were after all the only Slytherins in the family.

The first year snake found the sorting hat to be interesting. It spoke the truth something she supposed was rare among hats as they normally didn’t speak. Enid liked that about the hat. She noted that a boy before her had been sorted into Slytherin house as well. However, she didn’t really want to socialize. He probably wouldn’t want to either. Turning her attention instead to all the other first years yet to be sorted she waited for people she recalled. Like the blonde kid she shared a boat with. Mal had been sorted into Ravenclaw it looked like. When Joellen went up she was sorted into Hufflepuff. Enid wondered if she really would fit in among the students in her house.

Garnet and Treva rode to the castle together, which was uneventful aside from some humorously snarky small talks. He did point out jokingly was he cannot describe himself as heroic while also saying that "if that's what you think, I won't stop you I suppose". And now they were sitting together in the Slytherin table, watching the Sorting until Garnet looked at his girlfriend, who looked less than pleased about the weak turnout of Slytherins. Garnet normally didn't mind, but at the same time he was bothered by the sorting, too. "So many Gryffindors.. and Hufflepuffs, don't you think?" Garnet commented, "Rowena willing, I wonder if this means that Gryffindor will have another flux of Quidditch reserves. They just don't seem to run out of them. He then raised an eyebrow when Treva expressed the urge to jinx Caleb, Rich's cousin. The sight of him made Garnet sigh in exasperation, "Every time I look at Caleb, I look at Julius and wonder how the hell they're brothers. And then I remember that Rich's relatives tend to be... condescending," he said, "Wait for him to make a wrong move. If you jinx him when he was just sulking in the corner doing nothing, I would be forced to dock five points." Garnet said this with a regretful tone because sometimes, he wanted to give Caleb an earful, too. "Besides, watching him sulk in misery is a bit satisfying on its own. Serves him right for being a typical pureblood a*****e." And this was coming from Garnet, who was from a pureblood family.

                                                      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The past summer was the most miserable one Rey had ever had and she'd never been more relieved to come back to Hogwarts, although the relief was also accompanied by guilt. Back home, she'd been helping her mum and Gemma and when she could make the time, she helped at her grandparents' bookstore, which barely left her with enough time to deal with her own feelings let alone anything else. There were still moments when she'd forget that her father wasn't there and called out to talk to him, only to remember and bring down the mood in the house even lower than it was. At least her uncle and aunt finally came back to help, even though they tried too hard out of guilt, Rey thought. She did get the head girl's badge though, which was a nice surprise.

Organising and running the prefects' meeting during the train ride was a different experience, but Rey was glad to have Ivar along with her. She wasn't surprised by his appointment, not at all, and she knew that he'd do a good job. She didn't say much during the carriage ride up to Hogwarts (although Arnie's absence could definitely be felt) and when they arrived, she took an empty spot at the Slytherin table, looking around occasionally for any potential troublemakers. There was Rich's cousin who was annoying at best and a t**t at worst, but he wasn't doing anything yet. The Sorting was uneventful so far, but Rey couldn't help feeling a little dismayed by the turnout of Slytherins this year. That meant fewer people possibly trying out and the Quidditch team really needed more players, especially with the absence of Oliver.
